I was looking forward to this as a nice stay, at the halfway point of a long trip. The valet was very friendly and helpful, but overall we did not love our stay. We had booked a ground floor for ease with our large dog, and were put on the third floor. The towels and robes were in rough shape, and our carpet was damp. The AC didn’t work well, and to watch anything on TV besides public access channels you had to pay. It would have been $25 to watch Moana. It was not a welcoming vibe overall. Despite advertising their pet friendliness, there was nowhere to walk our dog. It was a 15 minute walk to a nearby park. At this price point, and in this area, I would recommend finding somewhere else.

I don’t write public reviews often and I want to be very very clear - the staff was wonderful and none of my issues with our stay were their fault at all. They were lovely and kind - but their hands were tied. We were on the 5th floor. Adorable room, small but very clean with a fireplace and all of the normal amenities. And the hotel was quiet and quaint. Here is my warning for other guests. The thermostat will not go below 72. Ever. For any reason. And the A/C struggled so much that wasn’t able to get to 72 during the day. It was never below 75 and it was usually 76. We were on the top floor, and I’m assuming that is why our room did not go below 76 except between the hours of 5am and 9am. I appreciate the attempt at energy saving, I really do. I just run hot normally and I’m menopausal so this was terrible for me.

For quick night away this hotel checked all the boxes. Close to great restaurants, all within walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was an event on site but it didn’t impact our stay in fact it added energy to the evening. The Study Bar was a great place to end the evening with craft made cocktails.

Stayed one night here after a conference nearby. It was the perfect choice. Quaint, quiet, and the staff was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. My room was on the top floor, very clean, could open the window and enjoy breeze. And very walkable to the area. I absolutely enjoyed it, and every staff member I encountered made the hotel even more enjoyable. Will be back!

I had an excellent experience at The Morrison, thanks to Monique at the front desk. From the moment I arrived, she greeted me with genuine warmth and professionalism, making both new and returning guests feel welcome. When I discovered that three of my employees’ reservations had been unexpectedly canceled during a busy corporate travel week, Monique immediately took action—rebooking one room and even helping me secure accommodations at a nearby hotel when The Morrison was fully booked. She handled everything seamlessly while assisting other guests and managing calls, truly going above and beyond. As a Human Resources Manager, I recognize exceptional service, and because of Monique, we will absolutely continue booking The Morrison for our corporate lodging needs.

Unique location that hides a hotel under the facade of classic house, complete with a sitting room with the check-desk hidden behind. Live piano music at the bar some of the nights? Count me in! And a great bar with unique drinks

My stay at Morrison House Old Town Alexandria, Autograph Collection was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment you walk in, you immediately feel that this is not just a hotel, but a carefully curated artistic experience. The design blends historic charm with a refined boutique style, creating an atmosphere that feels intimate, sophisticated, and full of character. Every space feels thoughtfully styled, almost like staying inside a living piece of art. The location in the heart of Old Town Alexandria is perfect, yet the hotel somehow feels peaceful and tucked away, like your own private retreat. Spending a few days here truly feels like a small piece of heaven. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that my wife asked if we could extend our stay, which says everything about how comfortable and welcomed we felt. What made the stay especially memorable was the genuine care and hospitality we experienced. Many staff members were warm, welcoming, and attentive, always ready to help and quick to make guests feel comfortable. While no place is ever perfect, the overall service truly stood out. I would especially like to recognize the manager, Miguel, who went above and beyond to ensure everything was handled with professionalism and grace. His attentiveness, leadership, and sincere care for guests made a real difference and elevated the entire experience. He has a rare gift for making you feel personally valued and truly looked after. The restaurant was also fantastic. Breakfast quickly became one of our favorite parts of the day, and the team even kindly prepared a special breakfast sandwich just for us, a small but thoughtful touch that made us feel right at home. The rooms are elegant, comfortable, and beautifully designed, with luxurious touches that make it easy to relax and unwind. Everything feels intentional and high quality. If you are looking for a place that combines art, history, comfort, and heartfelt hospitality, Morrison House is a wonderful choice. I would gladly return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Alexandria.

As a Marriott Ambassador, I've stayed at a variety of hotels, some great, some good and some awful. Only a handful are exceptional. The Morrison is one of those exceptional hotels. My room was a suite with a seperate living area, beautiful furnishings and very comfortable bed. Location is superb and right in the center of Old Town Alexandria. Above all, the staff deserves high recognition. Monique checked me in and exhuberated enthusiasm and knowledge. After a long day, she welcomed me with a smile and energy that radiated. Nancy and Sam were friendly and welcoming. As for the room, I changed my flight to later so I could stay longer in the room!! Highly recommend and will be back!!!! Kuddos!

Well run, Marriott affiliated small boutique hotel in old town, in walking distance to the waterfront. Very dog friendly, reasonable fee. Cool little bar/restaurant hidden behind the lobby bookshelf. Cozy spaces to sit in the lobby by a fireplace. Bed was comfortable, and bathroom had nice finishings. Did all the basics well. Would stay again!

We recently stayed one night at Morrison House. The main reason I am writing this review is because my experience was very different from another recent review. A recent review complained about their room being "old, basic, and rundown". We did not have that experience. Our room was recently updated with modern amenities like an electric fireplace. There may be a mix of older vs updated rooms available. The hotel was older but updated in a modern style and beautifully decorated for the holidays. I personally like the character of older hotels. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful. To get in the front door requires climbing stairs. I do not know if there is a separate handicap-accessible entrance. I would call ahead before booking if that is something you need. The location was perfect. The hotel is right in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. There is plenty of shopping and restaurants to walk to. Others have complained about parking. We took advantage of the valet service, so we didn't have any issues on that front. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
