The Phoenix Park Hotel receives generally positive reviews, primarily due to its convenient location near Union Station and friendly staff. Guests appreciate the hotel's historic charm and accessibility, but some have experienced issues with noise, limited room space, and unexpected fees.
Small but comfortable and clean. Friendly staff. Good value. Only bummer, we were winter stir refugees and when asked for second night they said they had nothing available, then later called and said they could accommodate us but the room cost was 5x what we paid for 1st night. Late stage capitalism strikes again.
Decent Hotel. Close to everything we came to DC for. Price was not too bad. Went through Trivago to get super cheap deals. Really Friendly staff. The Dubliner restaurant on the ground floor cooks a lot of seafood, so the fish aroma permeates the entire place - if you dont mind those smells in the lobby and elevators, you should be fine. The seafood smell does not go into the rooms. The bathroom in the room did not drain quickly, so you might be in a puddle while you shower - I dont know if it is the same in other rooms, but it was the case in mine. Beware of an undisclosed "Facility fee" post your stay, for every day you stay there. Altogether, a Historic Hotel, Close to everything and friendly staff.
I stayed at the Phoenix Park Hotel this past weekend and had a great experience. The staff were welcoming from the moment I arrived, and check?in was quick and easy. My room was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet given the central location. The hotel has a classic, historic charm, and you can tell it’s well cared for. Every team member I interacted with was friendly and attentive without being over the top. The location is also a huge plus—right by Union Station and an easy walk to the Capitol. Overall, a wonderful stay. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting DC.
Great location right next to Union Station! The staff was super friendly and my stay was great. It can be a little loud at night with the single pane windows, so I'd advise using the hotel provided ear plugs. I'm knocking one star off because the lobby smelled super strongly of the Irish restaurant next door. It grossed me out every time I walked through there.
Very happy with this Hotel. Even though our double Queen room was extremely tiny. So much so that it was actually difficult to get around the beds. However it does come with a refrigerator which is always a bonus. In room safe and umbrellas along with dry cleaning pick up bag. The bathroom was also small but well-appointed and functional offering a good size step in shower with great water pressure. The only downfall was that the toilet took several flushes to clear. The building is old with extremely tiny old fashioned elevators. We had to ride up separate from our luggage. But the luggage was taken up to the room for us by the same great doorman that brought us in. He even loaded it into the room for us. This is not always a customary service even at newer 4 star hotels. I felt welcomed and taken care of as soon as I stepped foot on the property. We walked from Union Station and as soon as we were spotted the doorman came out and took our luggage from us. He graciously welcomed us to the Phoenix Hotel. As I waited to check in the same gentleman that was taking care of our luggage also informed me of the hotels amenities, furthering that welcome feeling. The front desk staff was also kind and accommodating. In fact I would consider everyone I encountered downright delightful. I will definitely be staying again. Two suggestions would be to upgrade the TV setup just streaming and maybe offer some different pillows, pretty stiff pillows but the bed and linens are comfortable.
I normally review a Hotel after checking out, but I don't want to forget to write this review. Firstly, I came by early to drop off my bag so I could enjoy my day in DC. Shockingly, they checked me in at 11am. I'm a Front Desk clerk and this is rather unheard of. Most notably, Robin was so pleasant, efficient and helpful. She assigned me a nice room on a top floor with a view of Union Station. As a rail fan that was much appreciated. Most importantly, I'm leaving at 6am tomorrow to catch the Acela, so there is no more convenient hotel. Additionally, the price was great. Finally, I have a very large clean room. Perhaps, the decor is a little dated, but I really enjoy this place. Can't wait to use my free drink coupon at their Irish restaurant tonight. Hoping for some good food there as well.
This hotel is in a great location for a decent price. It is an easy walk from Union Station and the Metro for the enlightened people who enjoy mass transit. For those that insist on driving, they offer valet parking. For the cheapskate drivers, you can park at the Union Station parking garage and walk to the hotel. For bar hounds, there is an Irish bar next door with an entry from the hotel lobby. Genius! Now for the negative. The walls are not sound insulated, so the street noise comes right through. Comically, the room comes with ear plugs...but I passed. I want to be able to hear just in case.
My aunt and I were in town visiting during the shut down. The location next to union station was great! Super convenient. We were not too far from any of the museums we wanted to see (not that much was open!) My aunt has some mobility issues and they got us into a great, accessible room. She absolutely loved the shower as it was easy for her to get into, and had lots of grab bars. The staff was super helpful, answering any questions we had and helping us with our bags so I didn’t have to coordinate getting all of our stuff upstairs. The Irish pub that is attached to the hotel had delicious food and drinks, and live music every night! 10/10 experience and we would absolutely recommend this hotel.
Really nice Hotel, honestly I wasn’t expecting much as I had a prepaid deal, which made it a very reasonable option for the area. Location was fantastic as I was using Union Station. Rooms were clean with good en-suite facilities. I made use of the laundry room which was good. The Coffee Facilities were good with lots of options from espresso to long black. My daughter loved the Hot Chocolate. All the front of house staff were super friendly and polite.
We spent a couple of nights at the hotel while exploring the city. The location was great as we could walk to the metro and many of the museums and attractions. The room was spacious and very comfortable, especially the bed. We had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The complimentary coffee bar was nice so we could have a latte each morning. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
