The Phoenix Park Hotel consistently receives high praise for its excellent location near Union Station and the Capitol, coupled with friendly and helpful staff. Guests appreciate the hotel’s historic charm, comfortable rooms, and convenient amenities like the on-site Irish pub. While some rooms can be small, the overall experience is considered positive and value-driven.
Beautiful old hotel. The service is as good as it gets in DC. Rooms are small like most old hotels, but updated and very clean. Can’t beat the location if you have business in the Capitol Hill area or want to be near Union Station.
Very nice hotel with a cool historic aspect to it. Staff are super nice and the rooms are cozy and comfortable. Add3d bonus is there is a free self serve washer/dryer available to guests as well when you stay. Nice Irish Pub is also in the building that is a must try when you stay here. The food is amazing! You are extremely close to Union Passenger terminal for Amtrak so it is ideal to stay the night here. You can see the Capital building from the end of the canopy.
I can't say enough good things about the Phoenix Park Hotel. My girlfriend and I stayed here while in DC for the Warped Tour, and from the moment we arrived, the customer service was absolutely top-notch. Every staff member we encountered at the front desk, regardless of the shift, was friendly, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about making our stay a great experience. The hotel went above and beyond by allowing us to check in several hours early so we could get settled and make it to the concert on time. After checkout the next day, they also let us keep our car in valet until 11:00 PM because they knew we were spending the day at the festival. That level of flexibility and customer service is rare these days. What really stood out was that around 10:30 PM, the hotel actually called to make sure everything was okay since we hadn't returned yet. That simple gesture showed how much they care about their guests. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and in a fantastic location near Union Station. As an added bonus, The Dubliner is connected through the lobby and served one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had in a long time. If you're visiting DC, do yourself a favor and stay here. The Phoenix Park Hotel has earned a customer for life.
this hotel is in DC, so it's pricey. but, it's a deal, compared to other hotels in DC. an old building that has been cared for well, the rooms are clean and nicely appointed. and offer some decent views. you get a free drink at the Dubliner when you're a guest, too. they do not have dairy alternatives for coffee offered in the lobby, but it's a nice place to sit and read. the coffee is ok. the staff are all friendly and efficient. book confidently!
I had a great stay at the Phoenix Park Hotel. The location is excellent, right next to Union Station and within walking distance of major attractions. The staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful throughout my stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained; the only minor downside was that it was a bit small, but it didn’t impact the overall experience. A special highlight is the The Dubliner Irish pub inside the hotel: excellent food, very tasty dishes, and a great atmosphere. It really adds extra value to the stay and is a big plus for the hotel. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.
Small but comfortable and clean. Friendly staff. Good value. Only bummer, we were winter stir refugees and when asked for second night they said they had nothing available, then later called and said they could accommodate us but the room cost was 5x what we paid for 1st night. Late stage capitalism strikes again.
Decent Hotel. Close to everything we came to DC for. Price was not too bad. Went through Trivago to get super cheap deals. Really Friendly staff. The Dubliner restaurant on the ground floor cooks a lot of seafood, so the fish aroma permeates the entire place - if you dont mind those smells in the lobby and elevators, you should be fine. The seafood smell does not go into the rooms. The bathroom in the room did not drain quickly, so you might be in a puddle while you shower - I dont know if it is the same in other rooms, but it was the case in mine. Beware of an undisclosed "Facility fee" post your stay, for every day you stay there. Altogether, a Historic Hotel, Close to everything and friendly staff.
I stayed at the Phoenix Park Hotel this past weekend and had a great experience. The staff were welcoming from the moment I arrived, and check?in was quick and easy. My room was clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet given the central location. The hotel has a classic, historic charm, and you can tell it’s well cared for. Every team member I interacted with was friendly and attentive without being over the top. The location is also a huge plus—right by Union Station and an easy walk to the Capitol. Overall, a wonderful stay. I’d definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting DC.
Great location right next to Union Station! The staff was super friendly and my stay was great. It can be a little loud at night with the single pane windows, so I'd advise using the hotel provided ear plugs. I'm knocking one star off because the lobby smelled super strongly of the Irish restaurant next door. It grossed me out every time I walked through there.
Very happy with this Hotel. Even though our double Queen room was extremely tiny. So much so that it was actually difficult to get around the beds. However it does come with a refrigerator which is always a bonus. In room safe and umbrellas along with dry cleaning pick up bag. The bathroom was also small but well-appointed and functional offering a good size step in shower with great water pressure. The only downfall was that the toilet took several flushes to clear. The building is old with extremely tiny old fashioned elevators. We had to ride up separate from our luggage. But the luggage was taken up to the room for us by the same great doorman that brought us in. He even loaded it into the room for us. This is not always a customary service even at newer 4 star hotels. I felt welcomed and taken care of as soon as I stepped foot on the property. We walked from Union Station and as soon as we were spotted the doorman came out and took our luggage from us. He graciously welcomed us to the Phoenix Hotel. As I waited to check in the same gentleman that was taking care of our luggage also informed me of the hotels amenities, furthering that welcome feeling. The front desk staff was also kind and accommodating. In fact I would consider everyone I encountered downright delightful. I will definitely be staying again. Two suggestions would be to upgrade the TV setup just streaming and maybe offer some different pillows, pretty stiff pillows but the bed and linens are comfortable.
