The ARC Hotel in Washington D.C. offers a generally positive experience centered around its convenient location and affordability, particularly for visitors seeking proximity to Georgetown and the Metro. However, recent reviews highlight significant inconsistencies regarding room conditions, maintenance issues, and staff responsiveness, creating a mixed picture of value and quality.
Would give no stars. Looks are deceiving. Somewhat recently remodeled modern vibe, the location is cramped into a mehh feeling area and it gets better... No air in March, because they only have heat in the winter? So it’s 79 in the room and yeah, the windows don’t stay open either, the “engineer” will bring you something random to prop the windows open after asking first if you have something already. Nahh, I didn’t bring a spare block of wood with me this weekend. Would not return, do not recommend, stay away.
Honestly, I didn’t expect much given how affordable the room was, but I was pleasantly surprised. The room was extremely clean. I usually wipe down surfaces at the start of every stay, and the wipes came back spotless. Housekeeping also put my belongings back exactly where they found them after making the bed each day, which I really appreciated. Dana at the front desk was fantastic. She was funny, kind, and answered all of my questions with ease. The location is another big plus. It’s within easy walking distance of Georgetown & GW. I would definitely stay here again.
Sad to see all of these bad reviews below but here to share our experience! I was a bit hesitant honestly for booking a hotel so far from all things Capitol Hill but to save money we decided to book the Arc Hotel. In maps I saw the metro was only 2 blocks away so figured as long as we’re close to the Metro we’ll be ok. It was better and waaayy closer than it seemed and we were shocked. The hotel is in the cutest historic neighborhood! As soon as you get off the Metro there’s a Whole Foods one way and a 7 eleven we walk past to get to the hotel. (If there’s a Whole Foods and university hospital you’re prob in a very nice area) also, Very very safe neighborhood as people are always walking even late at night. So if you’re staying in DC to do all the things, please use the subway system. We are glad we chose to do this because renting a car isn’t cheap and neither is the nightly parking at the hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted with all smiles. Dana had the best personality for the front desk and was very hospitable. Super sweet! The room—spacious, CLEAN, modern & comfortable. Also, quiet hotel and the ac/heat was blasting. Very very very happy with this hotel. We will always choose the Arc when we come back!
This was a lovely hotel that was very simple and not overdone. The place was super comfortable and it would be the type of place I would love to go and just crash out and sleep for several days in. People who work the desk were very nice and made sure I was comfortable and they really were about hospitality. Job well done
While visiting D.C. I had the pleasure of meeting Shante Parker, at Georgetown, She was so nice, and polite. I was greeted every day she worked at the hotel with respect and courtesy daily. My stay was for 3-4 1/2 days there, and she made my experience great and warm. Any questions or suggestions I had she answered, and gave suggestions on where attractions were.
The place is ok. Unfortunately, I feel the ownership, a very large group of investors, do not care enough to sink some money into the place to make it nice. Bad heating and cooling system. Doors that don't reach the floor so you get a draft from the hall and hear noise. Our room had a broken entry lock, so it was loose. When I opened a window, it almost fell out of its molding, it is so old. The sink drains so slow it is kind of gross. Use some draino! No restaurant, no bar, just overpriced water and packaged foods. ($5.00 for a small bag of chips, one of the other guests told me. Really?)Mattress was old and hardly had any cushion, stiff foam pillows. As owners, with alot of cash to invest, try harder. ( shame on you) You could charge more and people would pay it, if it was nicer. It is just a 3 star motel, not a " hotel". We only stayed there for a surgery at the georgetown hospital, it was not for vacation. I doubt we'd ever book there again. The bright spot for us was the manager Kevin. It is not his fault he has to work within your means.
We have stayed in the hotel with my family. Extremely unprofessionnal attitude. We booked through bookig.com. Even they cannot solve our issue. The hotel simply does not respond. I and one of my children got stuck in the elevator. I rang the elevator bell and told them what happened, but we waited without any result or even information. We couldn't even talk to any of the employees anymore. Luckily my cell phone was with me and I called my husband. He checked the floors to see if anyone was there since couldn't get any info from the reception. He found that someone was trying to open not the elevator we were in but the other one. Unbelievable!!! Unfortunately it was too late to change the hotel, but we only used the stairs until we left it. We didn't receive any apology. At check out when I asked they said they would compensate us for the situation. but they never did. I can say that the rooms are in poor condition, the staff has not idea what is going on, I would never do it again.
I had the most horrible experience with this hotel! After I made a reservation on Booking and paid online, when I arrived at the hotel I was asked to pay again. I want to mention that I had the confirmation email showing the payment. I wanted to cancel and get my money back, but Booking told me that the hotel needs to cancel the reservation, and they refused. I also want to mention that the staff, specifically a lady at the reception, had a very unprofessional attitude — she seemed disgusted, not communicative at all, and didn’t even try to help solve the situation. I was not able to benefit from the hotel’s services, and the money was taken from my card as well. I do not recommend this place. Another thing: before me, there was another woman who also had an issue with her room, and the receptionist didn’t seem to care. I do not recommend this hotel.
Michele at the Desk is unbelievably great. She is extremely helpful friendly and a pleasure to deal with. She made my stay wonderful. I will definitely be coming back here. I highly recommend this to other people.
I had a great two night stay at the ARC hotel! This is a very cute boutique hotel in Foggy Bottom, right on the periphery of GW's campus. The hotel staff was friendly, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, well-maintained and spacious. Great value for those visiting GW, or wanting to be in close proximity to Georgetown. Incredibly close to the Foggy Bottom metro station as well. Would highly recommend and would stay again, the next time I return to DC! Great value too!
