The Washington Plaza Hotel offers a central location with proximity to attractions and dining, often receiving positive feedback for its staff and convenient parking. However, recent reviews highlight significant construction impacting guest experience, cleanliness concerns, and issues with delayed refunds, suggesting a property undergoing renovations with inconsistent service and upkeep.
A seamless and relaxing stay. The check-in process was smooth, the room was perfectly prepared, and the atmosphere throughout the property was welcoming. Staff demonstrated professionalism and genuine hospitality. Every aspect of the visit reflected high standards and careful management.
The location itself is great — very central to everything. However, the hotel is still under construction and does not offer room service. You also have to come downstairs to receive any guest or visitor at any hour of the day. The front desk will not call up or send them up, which feels unreasonable. I understand there may be security concerns, but it makes you wonder what the purpose of the front desk is if they cannot assist with basic guest coordination.
The staff is super friendly. The reviews led me to believe it was a much nicer hotel. There was significant construction going on and that created a lot of noise in the common areas like the lounge, and that was a real drag. The room is kind of worn out, with generally deteriorated surfaces, especially in the bath. The water pressure in the bathroom was really substandard. The bathroom wasn’t very clean. The only way to get a Coke or something in the evening is at the bar, which was kind of a drag. Coffee service in the morning means visiting the hostess stand in the restaurant and spending five bucks for a to go cup of just okay coffee. Felt like a ripoff. It’s in a good area with wonderful dining and entertainment options within walking distance. We walked to Chinatown, the National Portrait Gallery, and may excellent restaurants. Next time I visit I will spend a little more per night and stay in a nicer place. It’s not management’s fault, it’s just a worn out property—room finishes and plumbing, particularly.
I have mixed emotions about my stay here. I was greeted Friday 2/20/2026 by John who seemed to be a manager of some sort. He was very kind and even upgraded us to a suite with a balcony. I was very excited and appreciative but upon entering my room and giving a quick inspection I noticed a strange bug inside the shower. I was displeased and brought this to the attention of John, in which he simply said he’d list it in the report of the room. No food voucher, no offer to switch rooms, no type of compensation to justify what I had just witnessed in the shower. I believe something could’ve and should’ve been done to accommodate my guest and I, as I was charged a deposit for each night I stayed there. It was 60$ for the first night and 50$ for the second. I hope someone reaches out to me and does something about the issues I had here. Thank you.
The room was cozy and the staff was very friendly. Note that the following statement is not a negative note towards the hotel. But simply a personal one: the room would not go below 70?, despite setting the thermostat to 65?. For me that made the night a little uncomfortable, but I still got a full night's sleep. I would definitely come here again. I'll just bring a small fan with me next time.
The hotel itself was clean and well maintained, but unfortunately our stay was very disappointing overall. The rooms are quite small, which we could have managed, but the biggest issue was the construction. There was extremely loud renovation noise until 9:00 pm, and it was clearly audible—even from our room on the 5th floor. It made it very difficult to relax or enjoy our time in the room. What made this especially frustrating is that there was no warning at all about the construction or renovations when booking. Had we known, we absolutely would not have chosen this hotel. Transparency matters, and guests should be informed in advance about major disruptions like this. While cleanliness was a positive, the noise and lack of disclosure overshadowed everything else. Unfortunately, we would not book this hotel again.
It's a great hotel.right in the heart of the city. Staff was super amazing and very helpful especially the lady at the front desk she was awesome and very professional. There are many places and restaurants nearby. Hotel room was nice with a good window view of the city and the beds were comfortable. I would definitely comeback back here.
Rooms are being updated. I know this because I could hear the construction going on. Once that is done, it gets five stars all around. My room was definitely dated. Nice , but dated. Great gym, pool, and everything you would expect from a fancy (expensive) hotel.
What a great hotel! The staff was extremely friendly, and the food in the restaurant was very yummy. (I highly recommend the crab cakes!) I took 1 star off because the rooms don't have microwaves, and the restaurant has rules against warming "outside food". [Suggestion: One could easily be placed in the areas where the ice machine is located.] Other than that, I'd gladly stay again (and remember to eat all my "outside food" so leftovers don't go to waste).
Hotel has very decent size rooms. Beds were comfortable could've been a little larger though. Bathrooms were very clean.
