The Kimpton Banneker Hotel offers a well-located stay in Washington, DC, praised for its convenience and vibrant atmosphere. While generally well-received, some reviews highlight inconsistencies in service and maintenance issues, particularly regarding room technology and bathroom functionality, alongside occasional staffing challenges. The hotel offers complimentary amenities and a desirable location near popular attractions.
Prime location! Near to WholeFoods, 14th street, and the Mall. Room is okay, minimalist furniture, no balcony, rooftop is closed, not much space for the lobby area. Relatively clean, good housekeeping, free wine hours daily. Expensive $300/night with dog & car park.
My stay at the Kimpton Banneker Hotel was pleasant. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The room was tidy, the staff was friendly, and the overall experience met my expectations. I had a comfortable stay and would consider staying here again in the future. Thank you for the hospitality.
Great hotel for a short stay in Washington, DC. The location is excellent, you can walk from the hotel to all the sights, such as the White house, all the Memorials, etc. We had a premium twin room. We loved how spacious the room was, that there are wooden floors, no carpet. There’s a fridge in the room. We missed slippers, but requested those at reception. The only downside was the personnel at the bar/restaurant LeSel. They were busy doing nothing and not noticed the guests wanting to order or wanting to pay. The service was really bad. Otherwise would have been a better review.
A truly exceptional experience. The property was clean, quiet, and very well maintained. Every interaction with the staff was positive and professional. The room offered great comfort and attention to detail, making it easy to unwind. The entire stay felt effortless and enjoyable from beginning to end.
This was a good stay. The location is very good and close to a whole foods and restaurants and is safe enough to walk around. The hotel offers many amenities like a free drink as well as coffee in the morning. Rooms are spacious with nice touches like umbrellas and yoga mats. However, the TV had poor connection and the rooms are very loud. Thankfully they do have white noise machines which helped a lot! Overall, I wouldn't mind staying here again
I had a good stay at the Kimpton overall. The hotel is nice, clean, and comfortable, though the shower water pressure could be better. The location is very convenient, and for the price, it’s a pretty good value. I booked the stay with a breakfast credit, which was very helpful. Just keep in mind the credit doesn’t apply to specialty coffee. That said, they do offer a complimentary drip coffee in the lobby for guests every morning until 10 am. There are a couple of downsides to be aware of. If you’re in a city-view room facing 16th Street, it can be extremely loud. Weekday morning traffic is nonstop with a lot of honking, making it hard to sleep in, and on weekends there’s a nearby church that rings bells multiple times. Another issue was the TV connection. it was very unreliable and seemed to cut out every 10 minutes, which was frustrating when trying to relax. Overall, a solid hotel with good amenities and a great location, but noise and technical issues may be a concern for light sleepers.
During my recent stay at the Kimpton, I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service at the front desk, especially from Fountain and Tiffany. From the moment I arrived, they were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive to every detail of my experience. Their professionalism was matched only by their kindness, making check?in smooth and every interaction afterward feel personal and sincere. Both Fountain and Tiffany went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed, offering thoughtful recommendations and checking in to see how my stay was going. Their positive energy set the tone for the entire visit and truly elevated my impression of the hotel. Because of their phenomenal service, I will not only remember this stay fondly, but I will also be recommending this Kimpton location to friends, family, and colleagues. They are a credit to the property and outstanding examples of what great hospitality looks like.
Our stay was amazing, staff was friendly, any accommodations that we needed were handled in a timely fashion and the rooms were way more spacious than we thought they would be. The only thing is the lighting in the room gives very dim, very sexy (just an honorable mention). Other than that would highly recommend!
Kimpton Banneker hits all the right notes: perfect location, stylish rooms, and a staff that actually cares. We were there celebrating my daughter's birthday, and Gozde (the morning manager at Le Sel) was an absolute star. She went out of her way to coordinate a surprise that made my daughter's day. If you’re looking for a hotel with a great "small hotel" vibe and a fantastic dining experience, this is it.
This hotel pleasantly surprised me in the most wonderful way—I’m absolutely delighted. I chose it for our family vacation mainly because of its location, but it exceeded my expectations in every way. What I loved most is that it’s a small hotel, which I truly appreciated. The rooms are very spacious; I stayed in a double room and was genuinely impressed by how large it was and by the beautiful view. The cleanliness is impeccable. The service was outstanding, especially from the ladies at the front desk. Everything is within walking distance along a lovely promenade. I would definitely stay here again every time.
