The Courtyard by Marriott Washington, DC Dupont Circle offers a convenient location near key attractions and amenities, with positive feedback on its gym and accessibility to dining and transportation. However, recent reviews indicate recurring issues with inconsistent service, room size, and outdated facilities, alongside some concerns regarding billing practices and housekeeping standards.
The front desk who checked us in (Valerie) was amazing! She was able to accommodate two rooms next to each other for our family. She was also super helpful whenever we had any questions. Alex & James at the cafe were great as well! They went above & beyond to help accommodate our dietary restrictions. Thank you for helping make my parents' anniversary great!
It has been a month since our stay at the hotel, and the security deposit for the room has still not been refunded, despite the room being left in good condition with no damages. At check-out, we were informed that the refund would take only a few days. I would appreciate clarification from the hotel regarding the status of the deposit refund.
I have stayed at this Marriott Courtyard in Washington, DC multiple times and have generally chosen it for consistency and location. Unfortunately, my repeated interactions with a front desk staff member named Reneé have significantly diminished my experience. On more than one occasion, Reneé refused to assist me with taking my luggage upstairs, stating that the hotel is “not full service.” While I understand the distinction between full-service and select-service hotels, hospitality and reasonable accommodation should not be dismissed so bluntly—especially when a guest explains they have a legitimate need. I informed her that I experience anxiety when using elevators alone and requested assistance. Rather than showing empathy, offering an alternative, or attempting to find a solution, my request was dismissed outright. There was no effort to help, escalate, or even acknowledge the discomfort being expressed. Customer service is not only about policy—it is about empathy, courtesy, and problem-solving. The lack of compassion and professionalism displayed in these interactions was disappointing and left me feeling unsupported as a guest. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional training on guest accommodation, empathy, and service standards. Marriott is a brand I expect better from, and this experience did not align with those expectations.
Service was great. Housekeeping comes every two days. But you can request towels if needed. They have breakfast downstairs and a snack area where you can purchase chips/drinks etc. This hotel is super convenient to metro stops and everything. Less than 5 blocks. Fun coffee shops and restaurants around. I would stay here again!
The hotel is in a great location with very convenient access to nearby attractions and amenities. However, the rooms are quite small and feel a bit dimly lit. Additionally, the shower water pressure is weak and occasionally stops, which can be frustrating. Overall, a decent stay thanks to the location, but there’s room for improvement in comfort and facilities.
Worst Marriott Property I’ve Ever Stayed At I’ve stayed at Marriott properties all over the world and hold Ambassador Elite status, so I know what to expect from this brand. Unfortunately, this hotel completely missed the mark and was the worst Marriott experience I’ve ever had. First off, it’s overpriced for what you get. I stayed here for five days, and the room was outdated, the sheets were dirty, and the air conditioning didn’t work. As an Ambassador member, I’m entitled to complimentary breakfast, but instead, I was given a one-time $10 voucher that barely covered a coffee ($4.50) — and no change was offered. When I called to request bottled water, I was told to come downstairs and get it myself, which was unbelievable. Throughout my entire stay, housekeeping never came unless I requested it, and even then, it took forever. I’ve always trusted the Marriott brand, but this property doesn’t live up to the name. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel — especially to loyal Bonvoy members who expect the quality and service Marriott is known for.
I stayed 2/21-2/23/25 and my front desk experience was very pleasant checking in & out. Going to the elevator was when I first noticed how tight the space was I had to navigate to get on. Once I arrived to my room I was met with a room without a dresser or closet space (which I’m used to unpacking every trip opposed to living out of a suitcase). As the evening approached I needed ice for my room & when I called to find out where the ice machine was I was told that I had to come down to the front desk where one of the attendants went to the restaurant to get it (I thought was weird). Upon checking out I found the valet guy to be profiling my wife and I as he refused to open the doors to our vehicle so one of us could load up while the other one of us paid as if this location isn’t DUPONT CIRCLE.
First time staying here for a work trip. The hotel is well maintained, the staff are friendly and helpful. The food selection is limited but good quality. Located on a very quaint street with some decent dining options near by.
3 stars hotel with a 5 stars location and a 5 stars GYM I would say in general this Courtyard just does the job. The staff not rude but not very attentive either. The cleaning staff is slow but they respond. The restaurant below average. What you should stay here? The location and the GYM. The location is unbeatable. Located in a relatively safe area and walking distance to several main attractions in DC. And the GYM was the other great surprise. Normally you would expect a treadmill and a few dumbbells but not here. Big space with a variety of equipment and two large TV.
We are Marriott Bonvoy Platinum elite members with 50 + stays and frequent travelers to the DC area , for what that is worth. I will caveat the review by saying this hotel is best suited for single business or European travelers, I am reviewing as a 50+ couple with 2 medium-sized suitcases. We stayed in Room 414 in Dec 2024. The room overlooked an alleyway and a dumpster. Upon entering, the first thing we noted was that the room appeared to be newly remodeled, water bottles, clean, a tile floor, walk in shower, large screen tv, a desk, a desk chair, a "cooler" aka, small refrigerator, and a safe. What was lacking was a "dresser," or shelving on which to place your clothes. We stayed 3 nights and living out of our suitcase each night was not what we envisioned for our trip. When did having a place to store your clothes become obsolete? There was only 1 luggage rack in the room. Other than the desk chair, there was no other secondary seating in the room . The mirror, "outside-closet" available to use was not guest friendly as the space to accommodate several clothing items was not sufficient. Additionally, the shower basin doors leaked (it was reported and fixed, but still leaked afterward), and the toilet paper dispenser was not properly affixed to the wall. Housekeeping is NOT everyday, rather it is every other day-not an industry standard. (Not told to us at check-in) When we returned to the room, a set of towels were left - though the set was not complete, the garbage was not emptied and we had to request additional items afterward. The bistro is only open for breakfast. However, there are food establishments in the area for all meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The seating and lobby area were well designed and available to anyone who does not want to sit in their room to work. It was not the best Marriott experience for us. This is not a hotel we will consider staying in again as it did not suit our needs but may be good for a business or for European travelers who typically pack light.
