Located in Georgetown, this Hyatt Place offers upscale rooms and a convenient walkable location, though guests report inconsistent service levels ranging from friendly to obstructive.
Ms. LAVELLE provided excellent customer service. Recognized my status, took the time to look up my membership number, and upgraded my room. Thank you! Great location, clean property, nice breakfast. Highly recommend.
Zero issues with the room or water as others have written. Staff was super helpful and friendly (there was an issue with the way the reservation was booked and Tafar (I think) at the front desk was on it and went above and beyond to get me in quickly. Great place to stay.
False service. I am terribly disappointed in the service I received from this hotel. I initially gave a 5 star review because I was extremely welcomed by the front desk upon check-in, signing me up for the membership and claiming to give me free breakfast. However, after checking out, the hotel proceeded to bill me for the breakfast. I called to clarify my membership and they said my rate was ineligible for free breakfast but they would waive the cost “this time”. Why offer free breakfast if my rate is not eligible and then charge me? Ritchie initially made me feel welcome but this false charge has soured my experience. They even tried to seem generous by “waiving my charge this time”. If you’re staying at this hotel, be sure to be wary of any additional charges if they are claiming free breakfast. Would’ve been a great stay otherwise.
A nice cozy hidden luxury spot in the Georgetown area. Our family came to visit for just one day & spent time at the heated pool on this cold rainy January evening. The staff is professional and helpful in navigating the hotel. Floors and rooms are compact with all the essentials. Perfect spot for a stay cation in the city. Will be back!
Trip from New York started rough due to the original booking transferred to this property due to no hot water. Little did I know that was a blessing. Indoor pool, large rooms, great staff and superb location. Zahir (i think his name) checked me in early and made sure my 2 reservations was confirmed. RICH (PM agent) is a GEM i tell you. Super hospitable and a BALL to be around. The bartender (southern accent short hair) was so sweet once you peel back that first layer. So close to everything we wanted to see (Musuem of African American History, Rosebar, Park on 14th, Focus Brunch, Sly Rooftop and Stans). I would come back. 20 out of 10.
The location is excellent, rooms decent quality, the woman who checked us in was genuinely friendly and accommodating—but the good stops there. Friday morning breakfast was confusing and off-putting. We arrived at 9:10 AM and were told breakfast was closed, even though the Hyatt app listed hours until 9:30. The sheet handed to me at check-in mentions breakfast, but not the hours so I trusted the hours in the app. After a minute another employee opened the door and we and another confused guest were allowed in. The food area was still fully stocked, but the coffee had already been put away. While we ate, staff repeatedly came in and out of the breakfast area to eat themselves—which is fine—but this was after we were initially turned away. You could had fed everyone—plenty of food! Later that day, when returning from sightseeing, we walked through the lobby as a manager was loudly yelling at an employee over something that had fallen out of his pocket. They argued. Not a great look, and definitely not the atmosphere you want as a guest. Then my adult son went to our car to retrieve something and forgot a room key. He asked the desk for a key, but had no ID. Instead of helping him resolve it, the employee gave him a hard time. A simple call to the room to ask us to come down would have sufficed. I like the location and the breakfast itself. This was my go to place to stay in DC, but not after this trip. The overall vibe make this a place I wouldn’t choose to stay at again.
Check-in was not the most enjoyable experience. The female manger on duty the night of 11/23 was not only rude to me, but rude to the other employee that was trying to help me check-in. I had a $500 Hyatt gift card I was using for my wife and I to stay in Georgetown. The young woman helping me was struggling slightly to figure out how to use the gift card as payment, but I was understanding and not in a rush. The female manager that was assisting a group of three girls checking in was talking down to the employee trying to help me, because she was unsure how to process the gift card. Fast forward to check-out. Upon check-out the morning of 11/25 at roughly 6:30 am, the gentleman on duty helping me was struggling slightly as well with processing my payment. He said “I see your gift card here in the computer, I just need to figure out how to process it properly”. I was obviously trying to get on the road and promised by this manager it would be processed correctly and charged to the gift card I presented. Fast forward to 11/26 and sure enough they charged my Amex instead of the gift card I was using for my stay. Luckily I can afford to to have that balance on my card while I spend a few days trying to get something fixed that should have been handled properly in the first place. It’s ridiculous that I now have to spend multiple days talking to multiple people to try and fix the bill for my stay that was charged improperly. How does one get told by two different mangers that it will get billed properly and not to worry, but then it doesn’t happen? I’m a Hyatt member, they have my contact information. One would think that someone would have reached out, but instead they charged my Amex that was only in time for incidentals. I guess I’ll need to take this up with corporate on why these employees charged my card without permission for my entire stay. I’ve currently opened a case in hopes that someone more competent will be able to refund my Amex and get the charges corrected. I will be more than happy to update my review if someone actually reads this and helps me fix this situation.
My husband and I have stayed at Hyatt Place Georgetown numerous times over the past several years. The staff has always been cordial and competent. In particular, I would like to commend Derek, our favorite valet. His attentiveness, friendliness and availability has made him stand out. He is eager to please and always greets us with a smile.
It took 15 minutes to check in - 15 minutes! Inexcusable. When you get to a hotel you’ve been traveling; in some cases, since very early in the morning, as was the case when I arrived. You just want to hand over your ID, pay for incidentals, and get to your room ASAP so you can relax. That was the exact opposite of the painful prolonged check in experience that I had. On top of that, the fridge and toilet in my room were both broken. I checked out a day early because I just wanted to be gone from there and when I got to my new place a couple blocks away it felt like all of life suddenly got brighter.
$50 valet plus a valet tax =$59 overnight parking. Nice it’s right next to a Walgreens and good walking distance for things in the area. Valet attendants were very nice. Room is drab. 2 flimsy plastic cups, no glass cups provided. Scratchy towels and washcloths. The bathroom vent crazy loud and the air vent crazy loud, turned it off at night to avoid the damn noise it makes. Was also right across from the ice machine, oy. Worst Hyatt Place I’ve ever stayed in.
