Recent reviews highlight a significant issue with pricing discrepancies and a lack of commitment to promised rates, leading to frustration. However, numerous guests praise the hotel’s modern design, spacious rooms, and convenient downtown location. The property offers a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable living spaces, making it suitable for both business and leisure travelers.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was extremely disappointing. I was staying at this hotel for 15 days while in Washington, D.C. on official U.S. government business. At check-in, I noticed my reservation reflected a rate of $309 instead of the government rate of $276. Before checking in, I specifically told the front desk that if they could not honor the government rate, I would simply stay at another nearby hotel. They assured me they would correct the rate through Reservations, so I relied on that promise and checked in. After my stay, Marriott refused to honor what their employee promised, claiming there was no written documentation. Of course there wasn’t—the agreement was made verbally at the front desk before I checked in. Had they simply told me they could not honor the government rate, I would have booked another hotel. Instead, they made a promise and then refused to stand behind it. Unfortunately, that wasn’t my only issue. I was initially placed in an unsatisfactory room and had to move after checking in, and I was also told I would be charged to receive a package that had only been at the front desk for a short period of time. What disappoints me most is not the money—it’s the principle. A company’s word should mean something. I spent weeks trying to resolve this through Customer Relations, and despite explaining exactly what happened, Marriott chose not to honor the commitment their staff made. As someone who travels frequently for work, this experience has made me seriously reconsider staying at Marriott properties in the future.
One of the nicest Residence Inns I've ever stayed at. Everything about the room was pristine. The suite layout is exactly why I prefer Residence Inn when traveling for work — I can move between rooms and actually work in a different space than the one I sleep in. The separate living area has a comfortable sofa, lounge chairs, and a dedicated desk with plenty of room to spread out. The full kitchen is a standout: stainless steel appliances, a dishwasher, cooktop, full-size refrigerator, and a sleek island with seating that doubles as a great spot to eat or work. The bedroom is quiet and well-appointed, with a plush bed, upholstered headboard, and thoughtful lighting. The bathrooms are modern and immaculate — walk-in glass shower, quality fixtures, and tasteful finishes throughout. The whole space feels more like a stylish downtown apartment than a hotel room. The downtown/convention center location is convenient, and the room's design and cleanliness made a real difference for a productive work trip. Highly recommend for anyone traveling for business who needs room to spread out. I'll be back.
Hotel & Room looks new, modern, & spacious. Booked a 2 queen + sofa. Large Bloomberg fridge, kitchenette fully stocked. but shower pressure is weak: probably water saving. Used Spothero for parking nearby. Valet parking is pricy bc it’s near convention center. Breakfast and seating is pleasant and better than expected for a residence inn. You can see the capitol bldg from the rooftop. Gym looked new.
This hotel was clean and well furnished. The lobby is modern and inviting. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Breakfast was enjoyable. Rooftop gym offered great views while working out. Comfortable space for our larger family to stay, and walking distance to all the major sights.
My stay at Residence Inn by Marriott Washington DC Downtown/Convention Center was a very pleasant, relaxing, and well accommodated experience. The hotel is well maintained, has an upscale appeal, and managed by a very attentive and welcoming staff. I have no real complaints. The only thing I would bring the hotels attention to is the functionality of the wifi, as it was hit and miss at times. Otherwise, the stay was an excellent one and I would definitely stay at this exact location again. The location is well situated and a short distance from all the downtown tourist sites and downtown nightlife. The location was safe and secure in a neighborhood I did not mind walking around in. I highly recommend this hotel and location for anyone visiting Washington DC.
