The Hilton Washington DC Capitol Hill receives generally positive reviews, praised for its excellent location near major attractions, stylish design, and helpful staff. However, recurring concerns involve inconsistent room quality, particularly regarding temperature control and bathroom cleanliness, as well as potential issues with parking fees and customer service responsiveness. Recent renovations have improved the guest rooms, but some issues persist.
As a professional traveler, well, that’s what my husband calls me, I enjoy reviewing and commenting on my different adventures and giving an honest opinion on what I review. I thought the overall ambiance was fantastic. Greeted by bellman and doorman who graciously offer help for luggage and shopping trips I was I Pressed. Clean lines in the hotel. A Starbucks attached and 2 interior restaurants was perfect. Did not have to travel far from the 6th floor to enjoy moderately priced food. Rooms, spacious. It hit as some guest complained and extremely comfortable beds!!! For reals. Quiet. Huge bathroom 2 large comfortable chairs and large screen TV. Super convenient to the Capital Hill. Easy walk! Enjoyed my stay and will choose again when in DC. That says a lot!!!
Remodeled rooms so the rooms were spacious. Shoddy work in the bathroom with the lack of the shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. We had to call them to have them installed back. Valet parking was ridic at 70 a night. Terrible customer service at the front desk. The check in was fine but after that it was downhill. The breakfast has very little to offer and was expensive. 120 for 5 people for eggs and potatoes was a bit much. We went out the other 3 two mornings for breakfast. Didn't find the value for money or choices we would like. There was no buffet. The dinner was sad as well. There was no variety at all. Extremely basic with extremely negligible vegetarian options. We did a room service on Saturday due to the crowds and gridlock because the pride parade. It had taken us 2 hours to circle back to the hotel with all the roadblocks. The service was terrible. We were 5 of us dining and we had no cutlery, no plates nothing at all. We had to call multiple times and no one answers the front desk and finally we were put through to the restaurant and no one answered. When the second order of our soft drinks arrived at the room, we were told it's their "policy" to not provide these basics. How they expect 5 people to share a meal with out anything is beyond me. They don't have an online menu. You have to call them and then they send you a text from the front desk with a link to the menu. I stay at Hilton all the time across the globe, but in terms of service, quality of food and variety any location but the US is superior. It amazes me that they provide a bunch of cereals and call it breakfast versus you get an amazing buffet in Europe thars worth every penny you pay. The only positive is the great location. About 15 mins walk to most attractions.
This hotel is a very nice location, located in a beautiful area and neighborhood. The facilities are very nice. There is a large lobby with tall ceilings, modern, beautiful architecture and design, a lot of seating areas, a bar and a lot of decorations. Most importantly, the service at this hotel is amazing. A special shout out to Michael, because he was very kind to me and made my day.
We had a really lovely one night stay over a beautiful spring weekend to see family that was visiting from out of town. My wife had found the hotel and made the reservation, and things were really pretty perfect. We called slightly earlier in the day and they were able to get our room ready and get us checked in a little early, which was awesome and much appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable for all four of us, and quiet. Walking distance from everything, friendly staff and quick valet to get the car back when we departed. Everyone was super pleasant, and we would for sure stay again next time in town. Thanks for an awesome visit!
If you’re looking for the perfect base for a D.C. adventure, look no further. My recent stay at the Hilton Washington DC Capitol Hill was nothing short of amazing. It is an awesome location; situated just a few blocks from Union Station and the U.S. Capitol, the hotel is a dream for sightseers. I was able to walk to the National Mall, the Supreme Court, the US Capitol, and several Smithsonian museums within minutes. The 2026 redesign has truly improved the guest rooms. My suite featured DC-inspired decor with calming neutral tones. An array of awesome food choices from Union Grounds which served great espresso and gourmet grab-and-go options to awesome Bistro 525 to the Federal City Bar where their handcrafted cocktails were excellent, and the "shareable bites" are perfect if you've had a late day of meetings or touring. However, what in my mind really sets Hilton Capitol Hill apart from any other hotel is the Exceptional Service of all the staff. The first night I stayed in a room that was awesome but for some reason the mattress felt a little hard. In many hotels, mentioning a problem with the room would be met with indifference, disregard, or a polite shrug, but my concern was met by the staff of the Hilton Capitol Hill with great concern and kindness. Within an hour of expressing my concern, a manager personally reached out. And the manager did not just apologize but ensured that robust action was taken to resolve my concerns. By the time I finished breakfast, they had transitioned me into a new room with a mattress that was the perfect. When staying in a hotel there is nothing better than knowing that you have a hotel staff behind you that treats you with sincerity and respect. A staff that if something is not right, they solve the problem with a level of grace, kindness, and excellence in hospitality. Such excellence was displayed to me when the staff solved this mattress issue that I had when I stayed there. This exceptional customer service distinguishes Hilton Capitol Hil I believe from our hotels in DC. Whether you’re in DC for business on the Hill or a family vacation to see the monuments, the Hilton Washington DC Capitol Hill delivers a premier experience. It’s clean, stylish, placed exactly where you want to be, and has amazing staff dedicated to ensuring you have a great stay!
A beautiful, clean, and updated hotel room. High-thread-count linens on a comfortable mattress, modern furniture, and ambient lighting controlled by bedside panels. The room feels freshly designed, with soundproofed walls, a smart TV with streaming apps, and a sleek, sparkling bathroom boasting high-end toiletries and polished fixtures. Magnifying mirror and blow-dryer, safe, refrigerator. Lobby bar offers delicious cocktails.
We had a 5 night stay, comfortable bed with nice linens and towels. The room was immaculate and cleaned daily. All of the staff were polite, professional, helpful and friendly. The property looks as if it has been recently renovated. We did not eat at the hotel so I can't comment on that other than the dining area was clean, bright and pleasant. This was a great location, walking distance to the Capitol, Union Station and beyond depending on your fitness level. One minor complaint was the low flow shower head. You're not saving water since a shower takes dreadfully long do to the lack of water pressure. I would definitely stay here again when I return to DC.
The hotel was very clean and in a good location for seeing many of the areas that we wanted to go to. The staff was always friendly and accommodating for anything we needed. The rooms were spacious and kept clean and tidy. It was a quieter area of DC so you weren’t around large crowds. It’s also close proximity to Union Station to where you can get on the Old Town Trolley to ride around and see the different sights or to hop on a train and head somewhere different like we did.
?????????? I had an amazing stay at the Hilton Capital in Washington, D.C.! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Check-in was smooth, and everyone was professional, courteous, and genuinely helpful throughout my stay. The rooms are modern, spacious, and spotless, with comfortable beds that make it easy to relax after a busy day exploring the city. I especially loved the amenities—perfect for both business travelers and tourists alike. The on-site dining options are excellent, offering delicious meals with attentive service. The location couldn’t be better—just minutes away from iconic D.C. landmarks, museums, and the vibrant downtown scene. Every detail, from the quiet atmosphere to the impeccable cleanliness, exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend the Hilton Capital to anyone visiting Washington, D.C.—it’s the perfect combination of luxury, convenience, and warm hospitality.
Had to stay here because they are pet friendly and we were in a position to have to travel with a pet. Decent location, looks nice enough from the lobby, poor service. Tipped the door man when I dropped the vehicle off and let him know we would be right back down to grab something else from the car. Came back 10 minutes later and another guy was trying to pull off with it, main guy asked him to wait and he copped an attitude and threw his hands up and got out. Told the other guy to do it, then gave me a dirty look. Floor was under renovation and not finished. Room was clean but incredibly hot, got told the thermostat was just for looks and there was nothing they could do but “open a window for me”, which is to say that it will crack not open enough to really make a difference. So for that price I am now laying awake listening to city noise from the open windows or I can shut them and have the hot room. Offered a room change but couldn’t guarantee it would be any cooler. Also lost hot water a minute into my shower. No care in the world from service as to the inconvenience. Won’t ever stay here again. Hilton on the National Mall is worlds better, has working room control, and has never been less than excellent. I’ll find somewhere else further away if ever in this situation again.
