The Marriott Marquis Washington, DC is a centrally located business hotel with a strong focus on convenience due to its proximity to the convention center and metro lines. While praised for its staff, location, and comfortable rooms, recent reviews highlight inconsistent service, cleanliness issues, and logistical challenges such as parking and amenity availability. Value perception is somewhat diminished by added fees and a lack of expected amenities.

The gym is INCREDIBLE! Probably best hotel gym ????? I've ever experienced. The rooms were nice and clean but I found the bed and pillows extremely uncomfortable. Maybe it is just me but that was the reason I couldn't give it 5 stars.

Call it an A-. It's a nice hotel and a Great location, but there's nothing more special about this than the other dozen hotels that are surrounding it. I didn't find a lot of amenities and it's more set up as a business hotel. I will say that the staff was exceptional. From the cleaning staff to the front desk clerks to the Bell desk, all of them were very friendly and attentive and worked very hard. It's because of the staff. I decided to give it five stars instead of four stars.

Awesome hotel, great rooms, but the staff is not at par with those qualities. I stayed here many times for major conferences/shows held at the adjacent conference center. Nightly rates are a fortune around those events. You expect smiling, attentive staff who are responsive to your requests and preferences when you are paying an outrageous nightly rate, but at the DC Marquis, I have been very frequently disappointed by the service. Best part about the hotel is the adjacent Dignitary by the way, awesome whisky selection.

Two night stay for work conference. Staff was great, professional and friendly. The food provided as part of our company conference was good overall. The room was comfortable, nothing stood out from other hotel rooms. The bar is nice, had a few drinks there, very friendly bartenders! Enjoyed my stay! Walking distance to several bars and restaurants.

It is a decent hotel, I want to me only two points: One is for breakfast payments. I have got a “breakfast included” reservation and on the check out they always add those back to the tap. They stroke it out when I said the breakfast was included. But why the hassle right. Second is for the destination fee. They charge an additional $35/day. I don’t know if it’s mandatory or optional. It was there on the tap. They mentioned it to be kind of mandatory , but I think I should have known about at the time of reservation not the check out.

A mess from the start Arrived at 5:00 p.m. to be told that the valet was full. He handed me a paper with six parking garages in the area and I ended up finding one that would take my car for an overnight stay and it was over half a mile away. The valet was rude about it and not helpful at all. There was no hot water in my room and the carpet was not vacuumed. There was no toilet paper I had to call the front desk. Starbucks had a 3-hour wait and was only accepting mobile orders and all of the food was sold out. The only reason why our gym stayed at this hotel was because it was advertised as being connected to the convention center. The security guard told me that that tunnel has not been open for years. The hotel is using that as full advertisement. After checking out we were told that the hotel would hold our bags but since there was United Nations meeting they went back on their word we were not allowed to leave our luggage there everybody had to bring it to the convention center and we were not allowed back into the hotel after 11:00 a.m. because there was this high security meeting leaving all of us in the rain. There was no communication given prior. As a blind boy member I expected to be treated differently and I honestly was not. This is a high-end hotel and it felt like I was at a motel 6. It was very expensive and just an awful stay. I will never stay here again .

Stayed for a weekend tournament. Access to convention center via underground tunnel means you don’t have to go out. The lobby has colossal but count really benefit from more seating areas especially for high capacity events. The food options are limited to a three spots, a massive bar with restaurant that’s always over capacity, a comically overpriced steakhouse and a bar with limited options. We ended up door dashing since these options close at midnight. The rooms are standard and fine for this level of hotel. The 12th floor M Lounge is a nice touch even if the food is just so so.

If the Marriott Marquis Washington, DC were a person at a conference, it would be that polished executive who owns every room, knows exactly when to smile, and somehow still squeezes in networking at 3 a.m. Location: Absolutely Strategic Let’s start with the great news: this place is smack in the heart of downtown DC. You’re walking distance from the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, the Smithsonian museums, and a ton of metro lines. If you’re in town for meetings, an award conference, or just trying to get all the monuments in without Uber’ing to death, this is prime real estate. Lobby & Vibe: Big, Bold, and Buzzing Walk in and you feel the scale. Tall ceilings, that signature Marriott energy, and all the human activity you’d expect from a major business hotel. It’s busy, purposeful, and feels like a place that gets things done. If you like quieter boutique vibes, this might feel a bit corporate—but honestly, that’s part of the charm if you’re here for work or an event. Rooms: Comfortable With a Dash of Practical The guest rooms are spacious by city-hotel standards, clean, and modern. Beds are comfy, bathrooms are functional, and the views—depending on your room—can be killer. Minimal jazz, maximal comfort. If you’re the type who judges a hotel on how well you sleep after a long day of sessions or meetings, this is solid territory. Food & Drink: Convenient and Quality There’s a decent grab-and-go coffee situation in the morning and a few sit-down options if you want a meal without leaving the building. Food is what you’d expect from an upper-upscale business hotel—nothing that will redefine your palate, but reliable, serviceable, and good when you’re short on time between appointments. Service: Pro Level Staff generally knows what they’re doing. Check-in feels efficient even when the lobby’s packed. Housekeeping is timely. Concierge is helpful. It may not be a small inn where everyone remembers your name, but it’s a machine that runs well. Pools, Fitness, Extras There’s a gym that’s roomy enough to actually get your sweat on. I won’t do a victory lap about the pool because it’s not a spa destination, but the fitness space gets the job done if squeezing in a workout is your thing. The Bottom Line If you want location, functionality, and a polished business hotel that won’t throw surprises your way, the Marriott Marquis in DC delivers. It’s got the energy of a major city hub, the reliability Marriott is known for, and that comfy bed waiting after a long day. Room for improvement? Maybe a little more character or local flair. But if you’re here to work, explore, and crash with zero fuss, this place checks every box. Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars Solid choice. Strategic location. Reliable comfort. Great for conferences and meetings.

Great location for conventions. Underground access to convention center made getting to events easy. Nice rooms that are kept regularly. Good access to the Washington Metro; it's closer to 7th Convention Center station, but it's a short walk to Chinatown station; if you want the red line, it's faster just to walk to Chinatown station. Housekeeping still made up my room even when I left after they first arrived. Only downside is the views aren't that great, but it's mostly a hotel for the convention center.
