Super bad experience. I rarely leave negative reviews, but my stay at Holiday Inn Washington-Central/White House was easily one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had in Washington, DC. If you associate the Holiday Inn brand with a certain international standard, be prepared to reset your expectations completely here. The room felt severely outdated — not in a “classic” way, but in a poorly maintained, worn-down sense. The hallway had a lingering stale smell, and the soundproofing was almost nonexistent. I could hear doors slamming, conversations, and plumbing noises throughout the night, which made proper rest nearly impossible. The AC unit was either loud enough to keep you awake or ineffective enough to leave the room uncomfortable. Service was equally frustrating. Front desk interactions felt mechanical and dismissive rather than solution-oriented. Even reasonable requests were met with indifference, giving the impression that guest experience simply isn’t a priority. It didn’t feel like dealing with a global hotel brand — more like a tired local property operating on autopilot. Cleanliness was surface-level at best. While the room appeared tidied up, the lack of deep cleaning was noticeable in details, which made the overall stay feel less comfortable than expected — especially considering the price point and location near the White House. Yes, the location is convenient, but that’s honestly the only strong positive. In a city with so many newer and better-managed hotels at similar rates, the value here is extremely low. Bottom line: If all you need is a place to crash, you might tolerate it. But if you expect the consistency and quality typically associated with IHG properties, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

The rooms are pretty nice and the staff has been wonderful at every interaction! A couple of minor issues including the revolving door that is out of order and unreasonably high prices in the little convenience market. Otherwise just the typical hotel blemishes or issues. Overall still a 5 star experience for me, and the staff is the primary reason for that!

I was here for a week in January 2026. My stay during this time was excellent. Awesome customer service from all staff members; fantastic location; comfortable, clean room; and fantastic WiFi. I was here during the snowstorm in late January, and it was quick and easy to add an extra day onto my reservation as well—thank you for helping me when my flight was cancelled! While DC is very walkable, this location is also very conveniently located near main bus lines and the metro is about a 15 minute walk. If I had to nitpick and choose one thing to critique, it would be the size of the bathroom. However, this is not the fault of anyone at this location, my room just happened to be next to the elevator. But it was an excellent stay and I would recommend this to everyone! I know I will be back!

I had a pretty good stay overall. I liked that my membership was recognized at check-in—it was a nice touch. The room was spacious and very clean, which made it comfortable to relax. On the downside, the food options were a bit limited, and the outside areas could have been cleaner. With a few improvements there, this would be a solid place to stay.

I had a great stay at Holiday Inn Washington-Central/White House by IHG during my trip to Washington, D.C. The location is excellent — very close to the White House and many major attractions, making it easy to explore the city on foot. There are also plenty of restaurants, cafés, and convenience stores nearby. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, with a very cozy bed that made it easy to get a good night’s sleep. Housekeeping was consistent and kept everything neat throughout my stay. The staff were friendly and professional, always willing to help with questions or recommendations. Check-in and check-out were smooth and stress-free. Overall, this hotel offers great value for the price, with good amenities and a convenient central location. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Washington, D.C., and would happily stay here again!

I was originally planning to give this hotel a 2 star rating. The location is no where near the White House (which I knew as a DC native), and lack of technology to stream my phone to the TV, but the main reason for my planned low rating was because I couldn't get a good night's sleep. Every night the heater/AC would start making loud noises. I'm typically a deep sleeper but this was loud enough to wake me and keep me awake. I let the front desk know about the issue and they sent maintenance the same day. They were only able to slightly reduce the noise. I then spoke with Ambria at the front desk. She was able to not only see to it that the unit was replaced but she also refunded a night off my stay. She is amazing. This level of above and beyond service is so rare these days and this Holiday in gets a 5 star rating from me because of staff like her.

A relaxing and perfect stay in the city. All of the front desk staff were very nice with my late night check-in, greeting me with my IHG status and informing me of my late check-out option. They were also very helpful with the assistance with getting copies made if a couple documents. Clean and bright lobby, very clean rooms and, a high priority for me…plenty of hot water and great pressure on the fifth floor. 10/10

Enjoyable stay. Friendly staff. Comfortable room but difficult curtains. Location is only a few blocks from a metro station. There's not too much right around the hotel, but you don't have to go too far to find more dining options. I'm glad I didn't add-on the breakfast buffet after seeing what it included (Johnny Rockets). I did eat several meals there but don't think the price of the buffet was worth it.

So, the good points first. Location was convenient and walkable to many things. The rooms were a decent size and clean. Staff was nice and I did sleep well on the comfortable bed. There were negatives, however. The bathrooms are very tiny. The on-site garage was, I assume, designed for clown cars. Very tight and terribly expensive and sometimes precarious turning into it from the steeet.. The temperature in the room was difficult to regulate...either too cold or too warm. Not that we sit in the room a lot and watch TV, but the stations on the guide did not match the actual station numbers. And it's my fault for assuming that like most Holiday Inn hotels that this one would have breakfast also. The only breakfast was at the on-site restaurant, Johnny Rockets with a limited menu and expensive buffet. So by the time parking and breakfast at the restaurant was added in, I no longer feel like I got good value for my stay. Definite contrast between the good and bad.

Rooms are dated and could use some TLC. But, what the rooms lacked, the staff more than made up for it. Everyone was very friendly. Johnny Rockets is attached to hotel and does a nice job with breakfast. We ate lunch there a few times as well. On our last day, we were leaving after checkout. They stored our luggage for us and hailed a taxi when we got back. Protip: stay here and cut your hotel cost in half as compared to hotels near White House. Grab a scooter and ride it downtown for $5ish.
