The Residence Inn by Marriott Washington, DC National Mall offers a convenient location near the National Mall and Smithsonian museums, with spacious suites and complimentary breakfast. Recent renovations have improved the property, though some guests report ongoing construction noise and inconsistencies in the breakfast offerings. Staff are consistently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness.
This is a great hotel that has excellent rates for the DC area. They have completely remodeled this hotel recently, replacing the furniture, carpet, and doing a major upgrade of the fitness center. They have an indoor pool and nice, suite style rooms with a full size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and stovetop range. The rooms include plates, silverware, and some pots. It’s a perfect place for an extended stay on business or a family vacation. They have daily breakfast buffet every morning with fresh food cooked. All the staff are super friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed this hotel, the front desk was warm and welcoming. The rooms are fantastic, lots of space and updated! Free breakfast every morning and lots of options in the convenient store in the lobby. They take security seriously, but it never feels unsafe. A fantastic location as well!
Nice place. Nice rooms. Day 1 water was off due to a mechanical issue, from 1am-1:45pm the next day. Staff tried to keep us calm..they were sweet. And they handled deliveries free of charge. Excellent mattress, 2 TVs, comfy furniture, nice balcony, kitchenette had very few items but no frying pan, no sharp knives, no cutting board, and the dishwasher was broken, it's missing buttons, and we've been waiting all day for maintenance..no luck. Breakfast is free..big buffet, mostly frozen, pre- cooked boxed type and artificial eggs. Lots of breads, cereals, frozen waffles and frozen pancakes. Great coffee. No restaurants nearby. One pizza/burger joint that had a bad smell inside and closes early..no fryer at 6pm, they were cleaning up..
The room was spacious, and the breakfast was well provided. Most of the attractions around the National Mall were within a 1–20 minute walk, which was very convenient. I’d like to thank for the service. My daughter accidentally left her jacket at the hotel when we checked out, but the staff went above and beyond to help us locate it and even mailed it back to our home. Especially thanks to Lyn, we were able to recover a jacket she really cherished!
IGNORE the response by the hotel. I had to edit this post because my original one was for a different Marriott. It was meant for 1 in Connecticut. Anyways this hotel was very nice and the staff was nothing but Amazing. I stay in alot of hotels across the country for my job. I can safely say that this hotel is excellent.
My bathroom door did not close. So hope you are comfortable using the bathroom with company. Second they were doing construction and it started at 8:05 am above our room and the sound was absolutely wrenching. My children were upset and just wanted to sleep after a long day yesterday. The staff was nice yet very confused on their own reservations and payments. I have stayed here before and unfortunately it is gone in the wrong direction. Probably will not stay here again.
Hotel is in the middle of renovations, so making this review omitting the renovations noise and mess. Renovations reported to finish in March 2026. Super friendly staff, Tracy the General Manager is amazing! Renovated rooms feel quite modern, studio-suite with bed, sofa, shower and kitchenette feels quite cozy. For a long-term guest I wish there was a bit more storage for clothes and that the closet had a little more room. Breakfast is good, and varies somewhat by day. Treadmills in gym area are currently broken, as are a few of the washers. Unknown if these will be replaced with the remodel; time will tell. Location is good, just a little ways from the national mall and short walk to metro. Grocery store is 10-15 min walk away (Safeway), but delivery services abound. A good place to stay overall, would sray here again!
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to sleep next to a jet engine, this hotel’s AC/heater will give you the full experience. It doesn’t just regulate temperature — it announces its presence loudly and proudly, all night long. Breakfast deserves an honorable mention… mostly for lowering expectations. If you’re on a diet, this is the perfect place — one look is enough to kill your appetite. Now, the saving grace: the staff. Friendly, polite, and genuinely helpful — they almost make you forget the mechanical symphony in your room and the tragic breakfast downstairs. Almost.
depressing. stayed on the ninth floor and a crazy loud drilling sound started going off right above our room at 8:51am all the way until our checkout at 11 with intermittent gaps just long enough to give you hope that it might be over. no way anyone could sleep through this. forced me to rethink all my choices and resembled a form of modern day torture that needs to be studied. one of the worst January 6's in recent memory. breakfast was cold, bonvoy app was down, $4 for a bottle of water. this city is haunted. Repent.
Our family of 5 stayed here over winter break. This hotel is in a great location and within walking distance of all of the major attractions in DC. The neighborhood felt very safe and walkable. Staff is very friendly. The breakfast was excellent. The pool was crowded but my kids loved it. It was within walking distance to a McDonald’s and a pizza place. I gave it four stars because the rooms are a little outdated and dark. Overall this was a great place to stay for exploring DC!
