The Hilton Washington DC National Mall The Wharf offers a convenient location near major attractions and the Metro, drawing positive reviews for its proximity to museums and the Wharf. While many guests appreciate the spacious rooms and friendly staff, recurring issues regarding maintenance and inconsistent service quality are apparent.
I expect a Hilton hotel to have basics like room service, or a mini bar, or a late night restaurant - Hilton used to be fancy. This is basically a corporate backpackers. Complete with 7/11 style self check out 24 one pantry. Breakfast was disappointing and expected, dinner service was poor (food was great though!), really slow to clean over rooms. All in all, I would recommend staying somewhere else for the price. Just not good enough for Hilton. Oh and the tv situation was clearly a money saver. Had to get tech help and couldn't make the chrome cast work. And nothing in the room when you arrive like a bottle opener, maybe some milk, etc. All stuff I expect from a Hilton. Maybe the brand has just really slipped. Spent nearly two hours at the bar with five very loud bar fly regulars who talked loudly about their gun collections and swapped stories about which cruise they will embark on next.
Large room. Someone elses hairs over the nightstands and bathroom vanity surfaces which made me wish I'd brought my cleaning wipes out of the car. Checked the bed, the pillows, and the towels and they were okay and clean. Towels are thick. Shower pressure was awesome. When I did run into housekeeping they were wonderful. The fitness center is serious. Almost made me wish I stayed longer. Nice location. Posh. Hotel parking $65 with in and out services. Public parking garage connected $44 no in and out. Street parking is available in front of the Spy Museum which is street level with the hotel lobby entrance, however I didn't have to park during museum hours so I didn't struggle. May the Parking Gods be ever in your favor!
This hotel is excellent! Rooms are spacious and modern. Great working area and tv. Gym is great too. Restaurant was flawless for breakfast. Great bar too. Best os walkable to museums and in good weather even national mall. Plus there is a train station right under hotel. Staff was superb.
One of the best hotels we stayed at in DC. You do not need an Uber from the airport to the hotel, unless it's necessary. You can ride the metro from Terminal 2 to L'Enfant stop. Walk to exit C, thru an underground mall, take the elevator or stairs to the lobby of the hotel. Same directions going back to airport. Easy access to other locations due to the metro being underneath the hotel. Rooms are clean and spacious. Front desk personnels are very friendly. Definitely recommend this hotel.
Very pleasant stay. Hotel is clean, nice, good service. I didn't miss the JW at all except just a bit longer walking distances. There is a food court and metro directly attached to the hotel. Here's a pic of the way there. Small bar is quiet and closes early ==== makes the hotel feel kid-friendly.
Stayed here from 1/1/26 to 1/4/26. The location is great (above Metro station) and most of the staff are nice. However on checkout I mentioned that the elevator doors shut on me several times and the sink in the bathroom flooded the bathroom and that it needed to be fixed. I was told I would receive Hilton points but have yet to receive them. Management needs to ensure the maintenance of the property is up to Hilton standards. As a Gold member I did not feel it was up to Hilton standards and heard another guest say the same thing to another front desk clerk upon checkout. Also the $30 breakfast buffet was not high quality for the price. Waffles and several other items were cold.
Great location. Metro stop & food court, L'Enfant Plaza, is below the hotel. The hotel is accessible by stairs or elevator. The Wharf & the National Mall are both a 10 minute walk in opposite directions. The Spy Museum is across the road - 10% discount applies if you show your room card. The concierge staff are friendly & helpful. The room was very clean, comfortable & quiet. Tea & coffee supplied but no milk, just powdered creamer. Bottled water was also available. We had a nice view of the Washington monument. Would stay here again.
The location of this hotel is very convenient, close to the water and the National Mall with many museums and monuments. Too bad during our visit, the entire National Mall was blockaded. The overall theme and decor of the hotel, lobby and guestrooms were modern and chic, with bright and colorful LED lighting. Rooms are good sized with pretty new furniture and bathroom hardware. Overall feeling was warm and welcoming. The only downside was that during our stay, my phone charger and the international travel adapter went missing. It was plugged in the wall outlet the first night, but it disappeared the next day. We mentioned this issue to the frontdesk, and was promised that the roomkeepers will not take anything from the guests from the room. They said they will keep an eye at lost and found, and let us know if our charger appears. Very odd!
Pros: The hotel is located very close to the National Mall. 5 minutes walking to the nearest Smithsonian museum. The Spy Museum is almost next door to the hotel. The room is very clean; it has a good layout and a very comfortable bed. The shower is spacious and has optional showerheads. A coffee machine, a tea kettle, a small fridge, and a safe box are very beneficial. The personnel is very attentive to customers and friendly. Cons: The valve for the hot water in the sink was not working. Instead of going to explore the Smithsonian, we had to wait for the service guy to come and fix the plumbing. Breakfast was good and sufficient to keep us stuffed for most of the day. So we could go and enjoy the museums. However, we saw the bill for the breakfast for $83 for 3 of us on days 1 and 3 and the bill for $96 on day 2. Especially on day 2, the orange juice canister was empty, and yogurts were not on the counter. Luckily the breakfast was included in our stay, so we didn't have to sort out why the bill was higher for the less food and drink availability. The TV channels glitched all the time. "Glitched" means the picture on the screen is not stable and breaks into square pieces every 2 minutes. Conclusion: This type of problem can happen in every hotel. We just wanted to stay positive and enjoy visiting Washington DC. Do we recommend this hotel? Absolutely YES.
This is a really cool place to stay in the city! The architecture is amazing! We did a datenight here and went to the Spy Museum out front in the evening and took a short walk to the Holocaust Museum in the morning. We had a lovely young lady at the front desk offer to show us multiple rooms to try and accommodate the best view of the mall. Looking out the window you could see from the Washington Monument to the Capitol building. We enjoyed the restaurant as well for breakfast and cocktails and received wonderful service. The lobby is simple, but nice, and coffee is right there! Great place to stay if you are seeing a show At Anthem as well. We valet here and walk through Benjamin Banner park rather than deal with wharf traffic after an event let's out. You can also access the metro station through the mall in the basement, even though there isn't much retail still living down there. Just make sure you pay attention as the access to the metro can be a little confusing. Pro Tip- Be sure to ask for a view of the mall, it's worth leaning into the window and taking in the view if it's available.
