The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City receives mixed reviews, with many praising the convenient location and helpful staff, particularly Solomon and Andre. However, some guests report issues with outdated rooms, inconsistent service, and problems with reservations and amenities like room service and the mini-bar. While service can be exceptional, the property doesn’t consistently meet the high standards of a traditional Ritz-Carlton experience.
I was very disappointed with the service at The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City. A front desk employee named Alesia told me that she had booked a massage appointment for me at a nearby studio, about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. I walked all the way there, only to be told that there was no reservation under my name and, in fact, no massage therapists were available at all. I then had to walk back to the hotel. This was a complete waste of my time and extremely frustrating, especially because I relied on the information and booking confirmation provided by the hotel’s front desk. For a Ritz-Carlton property, I expected a much higher level of attention, accuracy, and guest service. Very disappointing experience. I would also like to update my review and mention that Mr. Andre personally apologized for the situation and made a real effort to make things right. He offered me a complimentary dinner as an apology and also managed to find an LED face mask for me at the hotel, which I really appreciated. Although the original situation with the massage reservation was very disappointing, I was impressed by the way Mr. Andre handled the issue afterward. His professionalism, attention, and genuine effort to resolve the problem significantly improved my overall impression of the hotel. Thank you, Mr. Andre, for taking responsibility and making me feel valued as a guest.
The hotel was OK. It doesn't feel luxurious like you might think a Ritz would. It felt more like a nice Marriot. The carpets look tired. The bathroom counter and floor had permanent stains on them. The bed was pretty comfy. But the room was very standard and small. The view was non-existent. There was not a walk-in shower but rather a tub with a shower head. The water filled up in the tub- GROSS and the water came out half through the tub filler and half through the shower head. It wasn't horrible. But I had hoped for a little more. On the good side, the staff was very nice and accommodating. It didn't feel dirty, though I didn't have an overwhelming clean sense either. The morning coffee service was luke warm. The location is great if you want to be by Pentagon City. It was fine. But it wasn't like the good old Ritz Carlton experience at all.
Posting under a personal account but I stayed here between 07/9-07/13. The rooms were fine but nothing superb, and the bathroom was a bit dirty. Room service took forever, and it took anywhere between 15-50 minutes for guest service to arrive. The in-room dining experience was quite low, and the food wasn’t all that, and the time it took was honestly not worth it- I could’ve door dashed twice back-to-back and that would’ve arrived before the inroom dining. The location is pretty good, and the hotel is surrounded by stores and a nice mall. Other than the location, I’d say that this specific Ritz-Carlton hotel isn’t worth staying at.
This is one of the best ritz i been to, the service is awesome from front desk staff to the restaurant staff(Robert) great guy behind the bar. The valet guys Solomon, dylan and late night valet guy that we had a long convo about us bring into cars and car shows. 10/10 place will be back soon
It was our first time staying at the Ritz Carlton hotel, my friend and I were attending a memorial service at Arlington Cemetery, so we stay here for 2 nights and the customer service at the hotel was above and beyond our expectations everyone was very cordial upon our arrival and throughout our stay. Solomon, Manuela, Ashir, Ed, Dania, Giovanna, Ahmed and the banquet servers were absolutely wonderful. They called us by our names, offered us champagne, asked us about our stay, replenish our drinks and refreshed our room constantly. They were friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable about the hotel. It was a pleasure to stay at this property and hopefully we get to visit more Ritz Carlton's pretty soon. Loved the proximity to the metro right out the front door and the connecting hallway to the 5 story mall. We'll be back! Thanks!
We had a fantastic stay at the Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City. The location is perfect for anyone visiting the D.C. area—having the Pentagon City Metro stop literally at the hotel’s front door made getting to the National Mall and other sites incredibly easy. Being attached to the Fashion Centre mall was also a huge convenience for dining and shopping. The Club Lounge deserves its own mention; it truly feels like a hotel within a hotel. The service and atmosphere there really made the property feel like home during our trip. What really set this stay apart was the service. We ran into an issue with an inconsiderate neighbor, and Delia, the manager on duty, handled it with total professionalism. She went above and beyond to resolve the situation and ensure our stay remained memorable. It’s rare to see that level of care. Highly recommend this property for the convenience and the top-tier staff.
My stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Pentagon City was absolutely lovely from start to finish. From the moment I arrived, the front desk team made a fantastic first impression — they were warm, welcoming, and incredibly informative, which immediately set the tone for the rest of the visit. One of the highlights was the unexpected welcome amenity waiting in my room. It was such a thoughtful touch and truly elevated the overall experience, making the stay feel extra special. The hotel’s location is also a major plus. Being right next to the subway made getting around Washington, D.C. seamless and stress-free—perfect for both exploring and convenience. Overall, it was a wonderful stay with exceptional service, and I would absolutely return.
Rooms are a little small, but beds are very comfortable. Classy touches in decor. Real marble bathrooms. Good Nespresso coffee in the room. I was disappointed that there was no outlet near the center bedside table. That was very inconvenient. Plus, no swimming pool or hot tub! The amenity soap in the room is apparently something special, as they charge $70 for it. Staff is professional and friendly. Very nice hotel, but only 4-star, not 5-star.
Great location and the customer service is 5 star. That said, I expected a lot more from the Ritz Carlton. The rooms are old and in need of a remodel. No extras that one would expect from a high end hotel ... basic gym, no breakfast, no VIP lounge. Rooms were very clean and the staff was very attentive.
Can’t tell you how many RC properties I’ve stayed at around the world, and as a Marriott ambassador. This one is not indicative of the experiences I’ve had, very disappointing check in experience in which I was asked to pay for an “upgrade” instead of it being included with my ambassador status. Mind you, I just came from the St. Regis with my 10yo son where I was upgraded to the Caroline Astor suite which was an $1800 a night room and as far as ritz Carlton’s, I’ve had similar upgrades but for some reason this one thinks they are special which they are not. I simply canceled the reservation without paying a penny and walked out and took my 2k for three nights to the Jefferson where I booked a deluxe king and they upgraded me to a suite at no charge lmao. They should remove the ritz brand from this location and re brand it as a motel 6. Poor customer service coupled with a busy/loud location and a lobby full of screaming kids is enough to pass this up, no wonder it was only $400 a night. Hard pass. Reevaluate your desk staff and policies.
