The Riggs Washington DC consistently receives high praise for its elegant atmosphere, outstanding service, and prime location near major attractions and restaurants. Guests rave about the friendly and attentive staff, particularly at the front desk and bell service, and often highlight the exceptional quality of the hotel's dining and bars. While some minor issues with guest services have been noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive and considered a memorable stay.
I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The property is beautiful, elegant, and full of charm. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming throughout my visit. The hotel café is excellent, offering delicious breakfasts that were a perfect start to each day. The location is also fantastic, with easy access to all the major museums and attractions. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Washington. Highly recommended!
I recently stayed at Riggs Washington DC, and my experience was absolutely fantastic from beginning to end. The entire staff was exceptionally friendly, professional, and genuinely committed to providing outstanding service. Everyone was always ready to help, accommodate requests, and ensure that every aspect of our stay was enjoyable. The excellent experience started the moment we checked in. Dimitry at the front desk was amazing, welcoming, attentive, and highly professional. The entire front desk team deserves recognition for their warm hospitality and efficiency. A special thank you also goes to Garnett, the Bell Captain, who was incredibly helpful, friendly, and truly service oriented. His positive attitude and willingness to assist made a lasting impression. I would also like to recognize Mohamed, the Front Desk Supervisor, who went above and beyond to make our stay even more pleasant. His dedication to guest satisfaction and attention to detail exemplify the highest standards of hospitality. It is rare to encounter a hotel where every team member consistently delivers such exceptional service. Riggs Washington DC has assembled a remarkable staff, and they are the reason our stay was so memorable. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning on my next visit to Washington, DC.
This is a fabulous hotel in the heart of town. There are two Metro stations nearby with an easy walking distance. You can get everywhere from this hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious and clean. I highly recommend you stay at the Riggs Hotel. It will really make your visit that much better because of the location and the fact that it's such a nice place to stay.
This stylish hotel is in a great location within walking distance of most attractions on the National Mall. The rooms which have the vibe of the bank building the hotel is in are clean but quite small. The beds were very comfortable. My family of three felt cramped in a double queen room. There is no dresser to use to unpack your bags. The food and drinks in both the restaurant and bar were quite good.
I chose the Riggs due to location and reviews. The best parts of our stay were Cafe Riggs brunch and the bell services (in particular Garnett Coad) staff who were so friendly and helpful. Rooms were beautiful but small. Vanity is extremely small, and the towel holder (and tp holder) both in awkward positions. Bath in room 613 splashed onto floor and door, dripping constantly even when turned off. Bed was comfortable. Noise level perfect. We had a Family Deluxe room so one had 2 queens and the other a king. Elevators worked well and never crowded. Loved the history of the place. We only had minor issues, seemingly stemming from Guest Services. #1 - Day of our WH tour, requested an iron and 30-40 mins later, someone showed up with nothing in hand saying he'd been told he was supposed to pick something up. We had to leave so had to wear different shirts. #2 - Ordered room service through guest services and requested well done burger. It arrived really red inside. Chef called to ask what was wrong, and by the sound of it, it seemed like guest services didn't convey the request. He sent another but for room service, food is completely uncovered so it arrived cold and exposed to whatever between the kitchen and 6th floor. We didn't eat it, so $121 wasted. #3 - requested upon checkout that guest services send bell services to pick up luggage and rental wheelchair to store. She SENT a wheelchair up instead. Still, besides the guest services bloopers, it was a great stay - bell services really mad eup for those gaffes as did Cafe Riggs in person. Brunch was incredible. Location is great for the Capitals game. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Safe and clean location. I feel like the phones need to allow guests to contact different things directly - like Bell Services and Cafe Riggs for room services. There's a problem with the relaying of info to guest services as the go between.
One of the best hotels in Washington, D.C. My wife and I have stayed at the Riggs Hotel, Washington D.C. twice; the last time for two nights from January 15th to 17th, 2026. Thanks to its excellent location, the hotel provides easy access to major attractions, restaurants, cafes, and shops. The hotel has a restaurant and bar, which is undoubtedly very convenient, and the rooms are quiet, comfortable, and clean, with a magnificent design and sufficiently good amenities, including bathrobes and slippers. What impressed us most about our stay at the Riggs was the hospitality and service. The staff, from the doorman to the waiters, provided friendly and welcoming service, surrounding us with care the entire time. We never had to open doors ourselves or carry our suitcases and bags. We would like to specifically and with great gratitude mention the waitress from the bar on the ground floor named Melody – a true professional and absolutely in her element. She is very knowledgeable about the bar's menu, works very quickly, and is always smiling and friendly. My wife and I are not very knowledgeable about cocktails, so we asked Melody to choose drinks for us based on our tastes and preferences. She patiently listened to us and instantly selected the necessary cocktails and appetizers with genuinely positive emotions and a smile, and the result always exceeded our expectations. It is employees like her that make a hotel truly memorable. We express our immense gratitude to all the hotel staff for their care, attention, and high level of service. Thanks to this attitude, we want to return to this hotel again.
Best service, we were checked in early and upgraded no problem. Staff were always helping us with the doors despite the cold! The room was perfectly appointed and so cute, with all the amenities. The location is so close to great restaurants and the Mall too. Will be back!
My husband and I had our Christmas Eve dinner at Cafe Riggs. Food and ambiance were spectacular - definitely put you in the Christmas mood. The most amazing part of our meal? The service from DAngelo. Honestly best service we have had in DC post COVID. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed with adding in just the right touch of humor and personality, without being overbearing and still allowing husband and I to share a nice holiday meal together. We will be back and we will request DAngelo again!
The location is excellent and the facilities are well maintained. We had breakfast at Riggs Café and drinks at Silver Lyan in the evening, both were outstanding and incredibly convenient being right inside the hotel. Every staff member we interacted with was extremely attentive. Was a great stay and we would absolutecome back.
I hosted my wedding reception at Riggs in October and was absolutely floored by the level of service, kindness, and professionalism of everyone. The valet employees were exceptional - especially Coach. They went above and beyond for us and all of our guests to make such a smooth transition anytime we came in or exited the hotel. I also had the pleasure of working with Karen & Brittany on the event side and cannot say enough good things! Karen started our journey into wedding planning and Brittany absolutely crushed handling the rest and it was so appreciated! Brittany was so down to earth and she put my Type A mind at ease that she had it all under control at all times and it was life saving! Not only was the staff amazing but the hotel is stunning, cafe riggs has the best cocktails and overall we couldn't have asked for anything more. We still get comments about how insane our wedding dinner and desserts/cake were. Truly couldn't recommend Riggs more for your wedding or any special occasion! We can't wait to celebrate our anniversary here in the coming year just to relive the day and exceptional service!
