Hotel Madera consistently receives positive feedback, praised for its spacious rooms, luxurious bathrooms, and convenient location near DuPont Circle. While generally appreciated, concerns have arisen regarding hidden fees, inconsistent cleanliness, and inflexible staff policies during booking adjustments. The hotel offers a pleasant and comfortable stay with good service and amenities, but requires attention to detail regarding guest requests and cleanliness standards.

Clean, spacious rooms and fantastic bathroom! We stayed in a double queen room (no balcony needed in Feb) and the room was lovely. There was a little sitting area with a couch and desk that made it feel very roomy for our family of 3. The bathroom was gigantic, shower was amazing and I loved having a large vanity for all our stuff. The staff were all lovely, especially Karen, and every time we needed something we were met with friendliness. (I did have to ask for more blankets because their comforters were more like sheets.) They were having a special - get your third night free, which made the stay very affordable. Location is great. I personally would have preferred the option for a free coffee instead of a free happy hour drink but no other complaints. Would highly recommend and be happy to stay there again! (We didn't pay for parking because it seemed $$ and just parked on the street without a problem.)

It is not often I leave a hotel pleasantly surprised, especially at this price point. The rooms at Hotel Madera were spacious and comfortable. The bed and linens felt luxurious. The bathroom was well done, WiFi was seamless. The whole experience felt absolutely thoughtful, and the next time I have a reason to stay near DuPont Circle I will absolutely be staying here again. I couldn't be more pleased.

A wonderful experience. The staff are exceptional, always helpful and friendly. The restaurant and bar is a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. We’ve stayed there twice and each time was extremely enjoyable.

We were genuinely looking forward to our stay at this hotel, but unfortunately our experience with management left us disappointed before we even arrived. Due to circumstances completely outside of our control, we needed to move our one-night stay up by a single day. There were rooms available, and we were willing to pay any difference in rate—yet management was unwilling or unable to make even this simple adjustment. We felt our request was both reasonable and common in the hospitality industry, where flexibility and empathy often define the guest experience. Instead, we were met with rigid policies and no willingness to work with us, even after explaining our situation clearly and respectfully. While the property itself may be lovely, this lack of understanding and customer care is something we can’t overlook. Based on our experience, we would be hard-pressed to recommend this hotel to others, especially our friends who value responsiveness and compassion from the places they choose to stay.

I don't like hidden fees. I want to make an informed decision when booking any hotel down to the decimal number, instead of be surprised when the bank charge is $200 more. I booked on booking.com and the price at check out was one thing, only to have 'amenity fees' and 'internet fees' tacked when I got to the hotel that were not mentioned anywhere obvious in the website. When I requested slippers which is a basic amenity at any hotel, they didnt have it. They also didny have power adaptors. So what did I pay an amenity fee for?

The rooms are absolutely gorgeous! One of the nicest hotel rooms I have ever stayed at. The service is good and the location is great. I am surprised that it was the price. It was because it was very reasonable on hotels.com in comparison to other hotels nearby. I definitely made the right choice with this hotel and would absolutely stay here again.

Clean, comfortable, great location. Checks all the boxes. The room is quite large. It's not the Ritz Carlton but my stay was very relaxing and enjoyable. It's also very hard to beat this location in DC. The staff was very helpful upon arrival.

I enjoyed my 3 nights here (booked through Booking.com and it was way cheaper than booking direct). Rooms were HUGE even when shared with another person. Modern updated, minimalistic, and CLEAN! Cute little gym, water (still and sparkling) on tap outside each elevator, and free welcome drink every evening. Sara and Marissa were a pleasure! Great customer service! I also had an Amazon package delivered here no problem. Was also to leave my bags early in the morning before checkin. WiFi was reliable as well!

The hotel is very near DuPont circle, which makes it convenient to get around and there are great cafes nearby. The receptionist is polite and friendly and the restaurant (Firefly) is pretty good too. I would just note that the room is spacious and the heater is pretty good during winter. There is a thick layer of dust on a number of surfaces, so it’s evident they only clean the essential areas and not the entire room.

This is our new favorite hotel. The room was large and beautiful. There was definitely enough room for the three of us. The bathroom was huge and comfortable. We all agreed that it was the best shower ever. It was wonderful having robes to use during our stay. The little teapot in the room was perfect. It was great having that little kitchenette area and a nice closet area with a safe. The beds were very comfortable. The front desk staff and valets were kind and helpful. The service was consistently outstanding. It is important to us that toiletries are all excellent and vegan friendly, and they were. The location was perfect! We had easy access to the metro trains and buses. Truly everything we needed was nearby. The neighborhood is safe and beautiful. The place where we used to stay in DC has closed down, so we are grateful to now have this place that will be our regular stay.
