Located in a prime downtown area near museums and the National Mall, this hotel is praised for its central location and friendly service, though the rooms are consistently described as outdated. Guests generally appreciate the cleanliness and helpful staff, but there is a frequent complaint regarding the firmness of the mattresses.
This Holiday Inn was the best I've ever seen and been to. The room was amazing it could have been better in 0 ways it was perfect. The view amazing was right in the middle of D.C. Check out my other review on The National Mall it got us there and around in 30 minute walk. The transportation was good to there was E-Scooters for a fair price. Taxi for affordable price and if you want a better hotel you're not getting one. 5 star review.
Stayed here for Valentine’s, and let’s just say the room I got wasn’t exactly what I booked—blame Priceline, not the hotel. The staff was friendly, everything was clean, and it worked… just not quite the romantic vibe I was hoping for. The best part? Breakfast! You had to pay a little extra, but the sweet lady working there—she said she’s in her 70s and still going strong—offered to comp us. Absolute gem. She deserves a standing ovation.
This has been a nice place to stay. Beds and rooms are clean, staff is helpful, but bring water and snacks. It's 4.15 for one bottle of water and no refill stations. No stores near the hotel so they have a monopoly. Breakfast is buffet only and 27.00 a person. Restaurants close on Sat and Sunday so I definitely feel nickel and dimed. UPDATE: I found a water dispenser near the back elevator with good water and there is a pizza place and McDonalds connected. The pizza place is excellent.
Spacious rooms for a great price! We traveled with our grandchildren and all staff were friendly to the kids. We ate breakfast each morning, the buffet was fresh and had a good variety. We ate at the 21st Amendment, where the kids ate free, the menu was limited, but the food was tasty. The kid’s meals were very plentiful. Overall a great experience.
Location is great for the museums, not so much for food especially breakfast and dinner. You need to walk or catch a ride over a mile if you want something to eat other than McDonald’s at night. Staff was all great, helpful with anything and everything! The one real issue with the room was the beds. They were like sleeping on a board. I inquired with the wonderful staff and they got me a mattress topper quickly, but it still wasn’t comfortable.
This is a perfect example of getting what you pay for. The rooms are much cheaper than other nearby hotels, but the experience suffers. I don't think this hotel has been updated in a VERY long time, and that is really starting to show. They need to remodel. The beds were horribly firm and uncomfortable. I couldn't sleep at all the first night. I think these are old mattresses as well. Walking up you could see the carpet had stretched and was piling and loose. The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly. I literally found bits of food on the walls of the bathroom; very gross. Paint was old and chipped. The electrical outlets were too loose to properly hold a phone charger and several wouldn't create a closed electrical circuit; this feels like a fire hazard. The room was equipped with an alarm clocked that used the iPhone port from 2012!! There were rust stains in the tub. The drawers wouldn't stay closed in the dresser. On the up side we had no issues with parking, service was helpful and prompt, the metro is close, there is a Starbucks in the building, and while we didn't try the food in-house, others seem to like it.
Recently just stayed here for my first trip to DC. The hotel was great in many ways... the location, food, staff, amenities, room cleanliness, & security measures in place. My only complaint is how HARD the beds are. Thankfully, my room had 2 queen beds in it so one wasn't as hard as the other one. I also spoke to the others in our large party to see if they had hard beds as well. It was a concurring issue most of us had in our rooms. So just be aware of that if you're planning to stay. Unsure if they are able to put a bed topper on it for you if it's unbearable or not.
Location, Location, Location. I stayed at this Holiday Inn for the 50th running of the Marine Corp Marathon. It is maybe a minute or two walk to the metro and an easy walk to nearly everything you'd want to visit in the DC area. The hotel rooms themselves are a bit dated, but clean and in great shape. The place itself is huge with a small restaurant attached as well as some play stuff in the back of the lobby area (a video game or two). There is also plenty of room to sit down in the lobby (handy after the marathon) and a small pantry area to purchase drinks or anything you might have forgotten to pack. Staff was friendly and while there was a small line when I checked in, it did not take long to queue nor did it take long check in. I'd definitely consider another stay for any return visit to DC!
Beds and pillows are very firm. Firmer than any other holiday inn I’ve ever stayed in, and I’ve stayed in a lot because I like how soft there mattresses and pillows normally are. Our bathtub wasn’t cleaned properly either. It had hairs in it. The rest of the room/bathroom was fine. We didn’t really deal with service aside from checking in and out which was fine. You have to pay for parking in the connected parking garage. There is no free breakfast. It’s $15+ Full Starbucks is connected to the hotel. 21st Amendment restaurant in the hotel had good food and good atmosphere and staff. 9/10.
A nice experience for five nights at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were spacious and newly remodeled. It had s nice fitness area. As I was there in November, the pool was shut down for the season. Starbucks is attached and a few eateries and McDonalds were right down the block. It is a quick walk to the metro hub and the national mall. You can't beat the price.
