Recent reviews of the Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC/Georgetown Area reveal a mixed experience, with strong service highlights and repeated issues related to room cleanliness, temperature control, and operational problems like malfunctioning equipment and unresolved maintenance concerns. While some guests praised the convenient location and helpful staff, others reported significant issues with room conditions and a lack of responsiveness from management to address these issues. Booking should be approached with caution given the current feedback.
I stayed here June 6-8 and was charged $238.86 for a second night I never consented to. At check-in, I confirmed a two-night stay, but my reservation was only booked for one night without my knowledge. When I went to the front desk to dispute the charge, the agent acknowledged, in front of two witnesses, that had I not asked, I could have walked out without anyone noticing. That means the hotel had no record of my room being occupied, yet still charged me for it. My keycard also remained active past my supposed checkout date. This is a safety issue the hotel has acknowledged and is currently investigating. Anyone could have accessed my room. When I escalated in writing, management denied any wrongdoing and refused a refund, citing occupancy their own staff could not verify. I have filed a dispute with my credit card provider and have documented correspondence to support my claim. I chose this hotel for the price. It was not worth it.
Wonderful hotel!! I was there on vacation with my friend during May. As soon as we came in, we noticed that it was very clean, and the lobby was very modern and spacious. We were greeted by friendly front desk and they checked us in quickly. They told us about the area and what places they recommend to visit near the hotel for activities and entertainment options. Our room was clean with comfortable beds and the AC was working good. I recommend this hotel for everyone's travels. We came from the Midwest, and we liked everything!
The front desk staff, Sajica and Nikko, were really helpful during check in and took the time to answer many of my questions about Washington. They provided useful recommendations on nearby restaurants and markets, and clearly explained the amenities available at this hotel. Their advice helped me quickly get familiar with the city and made this business trip more easier. Andrew was also very helpful in the evening when I was looking for water and needed assistance.Thank you all for your excellent service.????
The rooms and beds were decent. The view sucks since it's surrounded by hotels, even the ritz next to it would be the same kind of view. There is no self parking, valet only and once you park you can't access your vehicle. The pool was not open and it is very small. It was the main reason we stayed there. It's about a 20-25minute walk but there are scooters to rent around the city. It's easy to miss the entrance to the garage and hotel. One of two elevators was out of service. I didn't mind but my family I was with did mind. There are apparently two hotels with similar names so make sure you have the right address.
Katyce (sp?) at the front desk was so very pleasant and helpful. She made excellent recommendations for dining, helped with information for transportation around the city, and was super accommodating with check-in. We also had similar and exceptional help from all of the rest of the staff. The only complaint I would have is that the water pressure in the shower was a bit lacking, but the room was nicely appointed with a mini fridge, microwave, and pod coffee maker. Highly recommend staying here just based on the staff
We recently stayed here and ended up having to move rooms 5 times. Our first room's air didn't work, and we were graciously provided a fan by the front desk which we appreciated. The next morning they came promptly to fix it but it couldn't be repaired and we were moved to another room. However, that room wasn't large enough for the crib we were also using so we requested to be moved and we're promptly accommodated. The 3rd room was fine...until we noticed that the toilet wasn't working and they came to fix it. However, the fix didn't actually work and when we returned later that day the toilet had leaked from the bathroom to the entry way. We were then moved a 4th room, that also didn't work as the fridge was broken and I needed it to store milk for my son. Our 5th room was perfect! We moved through all of the rooms between a morning/afternoon and kind of just stopped packing until the last one. The staff was absolutely incredible though. They were prompt, kind, apologetic, helpful. Three rooms having issues that couldn't be repaired is the reason for my rating, as it feels like they're may be a disconnect in what staff is reporting to the desk/maintenance. All of these should have been noted way before a guest was assigned the room. We will return to D.C. and maybe this specific area, but we would not return to this hotel.
Check in was easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is mandatory valet. Room was nice, generally. #213. I recommend asking for a different room if you're offered this one, as the fan doesn't shut off in the heater. It mostly blows cold air over your face if you sleep towards the window side of the bed. Restaurant, Chef Geoff's, is really good!
This hotel is very conveniently located, with numerous restaurants within walking distance. It is also a short drive to the National Mall and the Smithsonian museums. My room was very clean, and housekeeping was responsive to special requests. The on-site restaurant is independently operated, and the food was outstanding compared to the typical Garden Grille. Valet parking is $60; however, there is a parking garage just a block away where I was able to park overnight for $15. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel was conveniently close to the airport, and it was even within walking distance of the White House and the Lincoln Memorial. There were also several restaurants nearby that you could easily walk to. I stayed here for a few days over the holiday weekend, and they provided daily room cleaning throughout my stay. For this price, I’ve never experienced a hotel of this quality in the U.S. If I ever come back to Washington, I will definitely book this place again.
The woman who helped me on the phone before I booked was spectacular. Her name was Katyce - very, very helpful. As for the hotel... No warm blanket for bed. Scratchy bed spread. No hot water for a shower at any time of day. Lobby lights are practically off after 6pm. Weird. Very stinky incense burning in lobby after 6pm. Gross. Odor sticks to my clothes and makes me gag. I don't want to smell anything except fresh air. Business Tip: Incense is a personal thing. Don't subject hotel guests to that. I felt like I was in a foreign country when I returned to the hotel at night. That would be fine if I was in a foreign country but I was home in the US. Won't stay here, again. Basics are key.
