This Hilton Garden Inn in Georgetown has mixed reviews, largely centered around inconsistent room quality and service issues. While some guests praise the location and friendly staff, a significant number experienced problems with room repairs, temperature control, cleanliness, and unresponsive management. Recent complaints highlight frequent room changes and persistent maintenance problems.

We recently stayed here and ended up having to move rooms 5 times. Our first room's air didn't work, and we were graciously provided a fan by the front desk which we appreciated. The next morning they came promptly to fix it but it couldn't be repaired and we were moved to another room. However, that room wasn't large enough for the crib we were also using so we requested to be moved and we're promptly accommodated. The 3rd room was fine...until we noticed that the toilet wasn't working and they came to fix it. However, the fix didn't actually work and when we returned later that day the toilet had leaked from the bathroom to the entry way. We were then moved a 4th room, that also didn't work as the fridge was broken and I needed it to store milk for my son. Our 5th room was perfect! We moved through all of the rooms between a morning/afternoon and kind of just stopped packing until the last one. The staff was absolutely incredible though. They were prompt, kind, apologetic, helpful. Three rooms having issues that couldn't be repaired is the reason for my rating, as it feels like they're may be a disconnect in what staff is reporting to the desk/maintenance. All of these should have been noted way before a guest was assigned the room. We will return to D.C. and maybe this specific area, but we would not return to this hotel.

Check in was easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking is mandatory valet. Room was nice, generally. #213. I recommend asking for a different room if you're offered this one, as the fan doesn't shut off in the heater. It mostly blows cold air over your face if you sleep towards the window side of the bed. Restaurant, Chef Geoff's, is really good!

This hotel is very conveniently located, with numerous restaurants within walking distance. It is also a short drive to the National Mall and the Smithsonian museums. My room was very clean, and housekeeping was responsive to special requests. The on-site restaurant is independently operated, and the food was outstanding compared to the typical Garden Grille. Valet parking is $60; however, there is a parking garage just a block away where I was able to park overnight for $15. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was conveniently close to the airport, and it was even within walking distance of the White House and the Lincoln Memorial. There were also several restaurants nearby that you could easily walk to. I stayed here for a few days over the holiday weekend, and they provided daily room cleaning throughout my stay. For this price, I’ve never experienced a hotel of this quality in the U.S. If I ever come back to Washington, I will definitely book this place again.

The woman who helped me on the phone before I booked was spectacular. Her name was Katyce - very, very helpful. As for the hotel... No warm blanket for bed. Scratchy bed spread. No hot water for a shower at any time of day. Lobby lights are practically off after 6pm. Weird. Very stinky incense burning in lobby after 6pm. Gross. Odor sticks to my clothes and makes me gag. I don't want to smell anything except fresh air. Business Tip: Incense is a personal thing. Don't subject hotel guests to that. I felt like I was in a foreign country when I returned to the hotel at night. That would be fine if I was in a foreign country but I was home in the US. Won't stay here, again. Basics are key.

Arrived late at night and received an incredible reception by Sajiea at the front desk. She was very helpful and even noticed I hadn't used my Hilton honors when booking and added it to my reservation. Cannot have been happier with the service and hospitality! Hotel location is great, the bed is comfortable, room is clean. There is unfortunately an issue which is a damp smell in the room from maybe the air conditioning. Otherwise this would have been a five star stay.

I had a very disappointing experience at this property and ultimately left to check into the Embassy Suites around the corner, which was noticeably cleaner, better maintained, and far better managed. (If also slightly more expensive.) When I checked in around 3pm, I discovered on my own that the hotel had no hot water. This was not disclosed at check-in. I only learned about the building-wide outage after calling the front desk to ask why my room had no hot water. As of 9pm, there was still no resolution or timeline beyond “hopefully.” More concerning, guests continued to be checked in without being informed of the outage. Staff indicated they had not received any communication guidance or relocation options, and no alternatives or vouchers were offered. My room was also missing a hair dryer and a luggage rack. After losing time and experiencing significant inconvenience, I moved to the Embassy Suites, where the experience was substantially better. I reached out to the General Manager, Jose Gallegos, via email and phone. Neither was returned. This lack of response only reinforces the poor management culture reflected in the guest experience. This stay fell far below Hilton standards, and I hope Hilton corporate intervenes to correct the ongoing issues at this property.

Thanks Cynthia(Front Desk), who checked us in on Sept 17th, 25 with a smile and explained to us about the hotel facilities. Front Desk can make our stay better when it is manned by a professional like Cynthia. Not much view from the room(Marriott and Walgreens across the street), but the room is spacious. The neighborhood is clean and safe. We truly enjoyed our three-night stay at the hotel.

Uncomfortable stay with poor service—would not recommend. Liked · The location was very good, but then again, there are several other hotels in the area. Disliked · The hotel was disappointing in several ways. There is no restaurant on-site, and they couldn’t even provide something as simple as a wine bottle opener. Service was inconsistent—two of the receptionists (women) were kind and helpful, while two others (men) were unprofessional and rude. The hotel accepts animals, but twice we had to request that dog waste be cleaned from the hallway on our floor before we could even walk to our room. The hallways and elevators are extremely hot—easily around 80 degrees—which makes it uncomfortable to leave your room, especially if you’re dressed for dinner. On top of that, the elevators are small, very slow, and without air conditioning, which only adds to the discomfort. Parking is another issue: the hotel has no parking of its own, and the valet service was unprofessional. When we tried to tip, the valet refused our small bill and handed it back, only accepting larger denominations. Overall, these issues made the stay far less enjoyable than expected.

Avoid this hotel if you want any control of your room temperature—and therefore a decent night’s sleep. I barely slept over the span of three nights because the room never got cool, despite the thermostat being set at 64 degrees. The room never really dropped below what felt like 73 degrees, making it practically impossible to fall asleep. It’s clearly a cheap hotel, saving money on energy costs.
