Genrally a highly rated stay according to recent reviews, boasting a prime Capitol Hill/Navy Yard location, modern renovated rooms, and friendly staff. However, limited parking costs and ongoing construction have drawn complaints from some guests.
This hotel is absolutely incredible after the renovation. The transformation is night and day. Everything feels fresh, modern, and thoughtfully designed. The entire property looks amazing from the lobby to the rooms. The location is also perfect and makes it easy to get around and enjoy everything nearby. Honestly, it is complete awesomeness all around. The design, the atmosphere, and the overall experience are all top tier. Definitely a 10 out of 10 and I will absolutely be staying here again.
I stayed at this hotel recently for five nights. The staff were exceptional -- so kind, so welcoming, happy to help. An absolute delight to interact with. The room was quiet and clean. Breakfast was delicious. All around, highly recommended!
The staff was professional, friendly, and extremely helpful. The rooms were very clean and had a lot of space that made it easier to unwind from a long day of travel. I loved great restaurants, CVS, and everything I needed was in close walking distance.
If you have work in the Navy Yards area, this is a great place to stay. It is undergoing some lobby renovations, but rooms and stay quality is unaffected. There's also an amazing and very responsive General Manager for this property who is navigating the remodel with her team quite well.
Tldr: unprofessional front desk, construction going on causing noise and inconvenience. This particular Residence Inn is damaging the Marriott brand. We stayed here in late December. First bad sign - Room was not ready when we arrived past 6 pm. We had to wait 20 minutes. Asked the front desk (on second floor) where we can find a spot to drop our car off. He insisted that it was obvious - right in front of the hotel. Then he impatiently walked over to the window to point out the drop off point. Oops, the spots were all taken. He then told us that the parking garage was full (not true as we later spoke to the valet - plenty of spots were available). The whole 3 days we were there, construction started promptly at 8:30 am. Work was happening on 7th floor and the workers were tiling the area in front of the elevators on 2nd floor. They were also cutting tiles right in the vicinity and you could see the dust in the air. On checkout day, we couldn't get an elevator to come to our floor. We waited and waited and finally decided to use the stairwell and lugged all our luggages down. No one was at the front desk. When someone finally showed up, he asked how everything was. Bad, I said. He did not ask me to elaborate. At that point, I was just relieved that we were finally leaving.
Pros: - The gym looked nice (didn't go in though) and the laundry area was well kept as well - The front desk crew was friendly and offered greetings or acknowledgement when walking by - Even as they were doing renovations, the noises never caused problems and they did not impact movement through property - Shower had constant stream of hot water - We had an issue in the room and called down to the front desk. They resolved it immediately. Plus to the maintenance crew - Each time we asked for our room to be serviced, it was - Did not use valet so can't speak to the effectiveness of it, but they did hold bags (for free) after checkout while waiting on ride - Food at breakfast was good, but... The ONE thing that needs work: - Breakfast. #1 issue. If you don't get there super early, it is PACKED. The breakfast area is TOO SMALL. My suggestion is expanding the breakfast area outside of a tiny room and putting different things elsewhere, as you already did with the coffee. To be clear, this is not an issue with the breakfast staff, but I can't imagine it's easy on them either navigating through crowds to restock things. Spreading things out might make things easier on everyone, both guests and your employees alike. The selection is actually pretty good (bagels, nuts/seeds, cereal, muffins were a constant) but the rotation needs work. Some days it was the same thing over and over. During a two week stay, I only say waffles down there one time. Most other days it was eggs + a meat product. Mix it up a little bit more please. OVERALL, this is a lovely hotel and I'd stay here again.
recently had the pleasure of staying at the Residence Inn this past weekend to celebrate my daughter’s 14th birthday, and I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the exceptional service we received. From the moment we arrived, your team made us feel welcome and valued. I would like to personally commend Mehed at the front desk for his outstanding customer service. He was not only kind and professional, but also went above and beyond to assist me with a vehicle matter I was dealing with and accommodated my request for a late checkout. His dedication truly stood out and made a significant difference during our stay. Out of all the hotels in the area, the Residence Inn remains my top choice. My family and I, as well as the friends I’ve referred, always feel comfortable and well taken care of when staying with you. Although we occasionally miss the breakfast due to oversleeping, we are always satisfied with the overall experience. We particularly enjoy the well-maintained workout room, which is always a highlight of our stay. While I had forgotten that your property doesn’t have a pool, the outstanding customer service we receive easily outweighs this small detail. It’s clear that your team genuinely cares about creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests, and I deeply appreciate that. I would also like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Kateshia F from housekeeping. Her professionalism, efficiency, yet warm and friendly demeanor made a lasting impression and a standout member of your team. She was incredibly attentive to our needs, ensuring everything was in place for our special celebration. Every detail was thoughtfully executed, which made our stay even more memorable. Kateshia truly exemplifies what it means to be passionate about one’s work. She takes her job seriously, and it shows in everything she does. Not only did she handle our room with great care, but she also assisted with cleaning up the balloons after our celebration, which was no trouble at all. I would also like to acknowledge the male staff member who assisted with the balloon clean-up. Both of them made the process seamless and stress-free, and I greatly appreciate their attention to detail. Every day we were greeted with warmth and courtesy, and I am pleased to report that there were absolutely no issues during our entire stay. Once again, thank you for fostering such an incredible team. I sincerely appreciate the care, attention to detail, and professionalism that made this stay one of the best experiences we’ve had. I look forward to many more visits and will continue to recommend your property to others.
This location is absolutely beautiful. From the lobby to the bedrooms, the charm is there. I also like the central location of proximity to local eateries, the Wharf, and other activities. I'll definitely be staying here again.
The room and fixtures are excellent! The customer service is not so great! Unlike any other Marriott I’ve stayed. Beware parking is VERY VERY LIMITED! 1st come first serve but not enough parking for the amount of rooms that they have.
I have been regularly staying at this hotel for over a year. I appreciate that the staff is consistently kind, professional, and helpful. I can't say enough nice things about them and how well they take care of guests. The rooms are wonderful (I recommend the one bedroom suite) and having a gym on-site is definitely a plus. I'm usually here for a week at a time so having a full kitchen in the room a the key selling point for me - I use it daily.
