The DoubleTree by Hilton Washington DC - Crystal City offers a convenient location near the airport and Pentagon City, with generally positive guest feedback. However, recent reviews highlight concerns about outdated room conditions, inconsistent service, and lingering issues like persistent odors and malfunctioning amenities. While staff are often praised for friendliness, several guests have reported cleanliness and maintenance problems.
The main facilities were fine overall and the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in was outdated though, with some wallpaper peeling off. The AC ran constantly and seemed to have a hard time cooling to temperature, but manually adjusting the air direction helped with this some. The bed and pillows left much to be desired in terms of comfort. As someone highly allergic to dust mites, definitely recommend bringing some allergy relief if you're sensitive as well. Parking is $51/night and breakfast is available but not included ($20+ per person).
Great location and good service. The rooms are typical for Double Tree, clean and comfortable, but with a few issues at this location. My room had the usual desk area, but with no accessible power outlets. I did find half an outlet (one socket) behind the desk, but this was unreachable. Likewise, there was an unreachable extension lead fixed to the back of the tv stand. So there was no way to work at the desk while powering any electronics. Some of the room lights had failed bulbs, so the room service staff hadn’t been reporting the failures. But the room was quiet and comfortable.
I recently stayed here from 3-23-26 to 3-28-26 with a tour group. My room was very nice and clean. I had an amazing view of DC from my window. I could see the Pentagon, Washington Monument, the Capitol Building and Jefferson Memorial. This was my first visit to DC and I really enjoyed myself. My room was clean with fresh towels regularly. I enjoyed breakfast every morning downstairs. The food was amazing, a delicious variety and wonderful service. I loved the coffee and felt like a VIP from the staff. I enjoyed a beautiful evening dinner at the Skydome Restaurant where I ordered the best filet mignon. The views, food, service and atmosphere were all great. Thank you for a wonderful stay. The bed was very comfortable as well. Oh and I loved my warm cookie when I checked in.
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is an overall okay stay, with its biggest strength being a convenient location that makes getting around easy and practical. The rooms and general experience were fine—comfortable enough for a short stay, but nothing particularly memorable. One thing I did wish for was longer hours for the restaurant and bar. Having them open until midnight would make a big difference, especially after a long day when you just want something easy without going back out. Solid, convenient option, but with a bit of room for improvement in guest amenities.
I recently stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel in Arlington and really enjoyed my visit. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The hotel is very large and seemed to host many big events during my stay. While some areas felt a bit dated, everything was clean, well-kept, and taken care of. The complimentary shuttle to and from the nearby airport was extremely convenient, and we also took advantage of the luggage holding area before check-in and after check-out. I’d definitely stay again!
The escalator to the lobby level (one floor above ground) was broken during my entire stay. During peak times, the queue for the elevator was several full cars deep. At one point, the elevator tripped out of service due to being over capacity. When I inquired about the status of the repair for the escalator, staff did not have an ETA. When I inquired about several staircases, the staff said they were all for egress only and could not be reconfigured as an alternative for the escalator. When I asked if the remaining down-direction escalator could be stopped so that it could be used as stairs, staff said it could not - without further explanation. All in all, the staff tried absolutely nothing and they were all out of ideas. If I could have rebooked anywhere else in Crystal City, I would have moved on the first night of my stay. Beyond the escalator situation, the pillows were very uncomfortable. They are feather pillows that go flat very quickly. The furnishings are old and stained. One electrical outlet in my room was not flush with the wall. The rooms with doors to adjoining units leak sound badly. The pool doesn't exist, even though there are still references to it strewn about the hotel's website. There's not really an accessable entrance except by car. The sidewalks were not uniformly shoveled all the way around the building (even though it had stopped snowing days before I arrived). The sole shoveled pathway from Eads St to the lower lobby entrance was too narrow for ADA compliance.
Our flight out of BWI was cancelled, and we were rerouted through DCA. Because we had an early morning flight, we decided to go down to DC the night before. We booked online with Double Tree. Room was ok, service, location were very close to DCA. The Sky lounge was nice- food pretty good. My husband got a ribeye and said it was great. I got the gem salad with Salmon and it was decent, but salmon was a bit fishy. My main complaint is the constant smell of marijuana. I was awaken about 2am with such a strong smell I couldn’t sleep. It seemed to be everywhere in that hotel. That was the biggest drawback for me. I’m sure they can’t do anything about it, but it was bothersome, nonetheless.
This was an awesome visit for us. The price of the room was great to start with. The service I received as soon as we got there was excellent. The concierge was very helpful as soon as we got there. My son was going to the Lakers/Wizard game so I had some time to kill. I went to the Skydome which is their revolving restaurant. It was awesome to say the least. I also went into the gym to do a workout and was quite impressed with how much they had in there. I will definitely be visiting this hotel again.
We stayed here for 4 days for Christmas vacation 2025. The market place staff inside the hotel, (where they also serve breakfast ) were great, very friendly and helping. There is also a gift shop inside the hotel. Especially , the skydome on 15th floor is amazing!!! My son had booked dinner for Christmas eve. This was the best experience I ever had. You the see the entire DC monuments!. The service at this place was beyond explanation. We wanted vegetarian option, they specially made some vegetarian food for us. I can give more than 5 stars for skydome in particular in this hotel. I highly recommend anybody who visits DC to stay at this hotel. Our Manager Mr. Chandler was very friendly and helpful!. Thank you.
Horrible experience. Cookies were hard. HVAC in room ran all night although was set to auto. Room temp was a. Challenge. Place was dated and did not provide continental breakfast. Ice machine was not on floors. Vending machines are obsolete and the store closes at 10pm on site. Great that they had free shuttle to DCA Airport. Nice friendly staff.
