The Capitol Hill Hotel offers a well-located and generally positive experience for guests, particularly those seeking proximity to DC's landmarks and attractions. While praised for its friendly staff, convenient location, and included breakfast, some reviews highlight maintenance issues, humid rooms, and inconsistencies in room upkeep. Recent reviews suggest improvements are needed in certain areas to fully meet guest expectations.
LOVELY hotel in Historic rich Capitol Hill with tree lined sidewalks. One block to Metro and short walk to Capitol & Library of Congress. Neighborhood of quaint eateries and markets. Nice staff. Great breakfast included. Kitchenette with small table in suites. Will definitely stay here again for best location and price!
Priced for area, but price didn't reflect the up keep or maintenance. My room set up was a bit wonky and out dated, bathroom has a pocket with no handle so ya cant open without and act of congress...but atleast its close to capital hill! Staff was amazing and accommodating, breakfast was good as well!
I stayed at this hotel way back in December 2019, just before COVID started, and it left a really strong impression. It’s an amazing property with a professional yet genuinely hospitable team — the kind of service that feels polished but still warm. The room was great: clean, tidy, spacious, and comfortable in all the right ways. Breakfast was another highlight. Plenty of good options, well prepared, and satisfying enough that I didn’t have anything to complain about. Everything during the stay felt smooth and well?managed, from check?in to the overall atmosphere of the hotel. The location is very strategic, which makes the experience even better. You can walk to many must?visit places without needing transport, and that convenience adds a lot of value. For a stay just before the world changed, this hotel delivered a memorable and effortless experience.
We were in DC for a baseball game. When we checked in the staff was friendly and helped us with where to park. Our room was spacious and clean. This area was perfect for walking to the game. Would stay here again!
The location is unbeatable, but I would sacrifice convenience for nicer lodgings next time. The halls and rooms were incredibly humid - the air conditioner was blowing out damp air. I had to comically yank on the room door to close or open it. The sink design was a bit nonfunctional, the toilet didn't flush without holding down the handle, and the TV only had about 10 basic cable channels.
Don't look for luxury here… maybe a bed bug but not fresh clean linens. I could post pics but I won’t. A bug on my pillow. Black exoskeletons or fetcal matter on the sheets. A filthy mattress under the mattress pad which was torn. I was moved to another room which had no evidence of bedbugs but both beds still had torn mattress pads. Great location. Would I stay here again? Maybe, but only after a very though inspection.
This was a great hotel. Exceedingly friendly staff they have free bicycles and umbrellas. There's coffee around the clock. Breakfast was very good. Quite an array of restaurants around the corner. We plan on staying at this location when we go back to Washington DC. It is two blocks from the capital. And one block from a metro station.
I was so impressed with the hospitality, helpfulness, and outgoing personalities of all the staff that we encountered. Norman and Tiana were exceptional at the front desk. The rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable and the location can't be beat if you want to be in the middle of everything. We will definitely be staying here again when we return to D.C. Highly recommend!
This hotel wad phenomenal. The location is perfect, right next door to the capitol offices and the library of congress. There is plenty of restaurants and sites within walking distance so you dont need to deal with taxis. The rooms were really very nice, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was full of variety and quantity.
The service is great and I have stayed here many times and have loved it. However my biggest complaint is the rooms are not kept in the best condition. Primarily the fact that the doors do not close well closet, bathroom, and main door. The door have so many layers a paint on them that they are too big for the door frame
