The Hilton Alexandria Old Town receives generally positive reviews, highlighting its excellent location in Old Town Alexandria, convenient access to transportation, and friendly staff. However, recent reviews have raised concerns regarding cleanliness, outdated rooms, and inconsistent customer service experiences, including billing errors and unresponsive management. Overall the property offers convenience and a pleasant atmosphere despite some shortcomings.
????? Wonderful stay! The hotel was very clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The location was perfect, with plenty of shopping and great restaurants just steps away. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. I would definitely stay here again!
I came to visit the Hilton hotel and decided to stop by the Starbucks that’s located inside of the hotel. Typically I don’t really go to Starbucks often so I’m fairly new to the menu, however Chanell was very helpful with her knowledge on the variety of drinks and treats that Starbucks has. The customer service Chanell provided as well as the drink was excellent and she definitely made this experience one to member.
We stayed there in April for a DC tourist visit. This is a great location, as you are right across the street from the Metro station, and at the end of the Old Town Alexandria free trolley line. The area is extremely walkable and feels quite safe even in the late evening. The service was excellent, including the front desk staff who were very helpful about accepting pickup & drop off of our rental mobility scooters. The building was handsomely furnished and clean, the staff friendly. Our room was also clean, roomy and comfortable. There was room for us to park two mobility scooters inside and still navigate the room easily. The bathroom tub was so well laid out, with the extra self on the side, that I'm posting a picture here. Hot water was plentiful and the water pressure good. The only complaint I would make is the that the two trash bins in the room were itty-bitty-- perhaps 1 gallon size. Note that the rooms come with a fridge but no microwave. There were enough electrical plugs for four people, their devices, and two mobility scooters. For mobility device users, be aware that the only exit to street that isn't steps-only is out onto the passage to parking, but this wasn't a serious issue for us. Parking is an extra charge (rather hefty!) but there is elevator access from parking right into the hotel, as long as you have your key. We were very pleased with the whole experience. This is not a hotel we could afford to use regularly, but it was well worth the cost. (P.s. we did not eat in the hotel, but there's a cute and delicious diner half a block down the street that was reasonably priced.)
Stayed at the Hilton for the week for a conference. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly and accommodating. Fatiha greeted me and Mede my check in and checkout very smooth and quick. She was very friendly, asked if I needed anything, and was very helpful with questions regarding the hotel as well as the area. Highly recommend the hotel
Location was beautiful. However I must share this experience. As a young traveler and my first time in D.C. I had a horrible experience at this Hilton. I am a Diamond member and have stayed at really accommodating Hiltons before. This one was abhorrent. They told me multiple different charges for the one night I paid for (as I used all my points earned to pay for a night and paid card for another night) The room had mold all over the shower curtain, the counter top was cracked and the employees were so unhelpful and rude. They charged my card again for food and beverage that I absolutely did not receive, after my checkout when refunding my deposit and charged me more for my stay than was quoted upon checking in/out along with wasting my benefits and having a Hilton member be my guest for this trip. I will no longer be visiting any Hiltons after being hung up on by Customer Care and every service I have called. Someone really needs to speak to their General Manager and figure out what was going on. Waste of points, money, and sanity. Never have I ever been treated like this by any Hilton. Especially as a member since 2021 and as a Diamond memberb and 3 days shy of Diamond reserve.
Horrible experience! Last month we stayed at the Hilton for an event for three nights and upon arrival the Hilton staff double charged my credit card. They said it was a glitch in their system and that they will correct the mistake BUT instead of doing that. The charge was remained in our card balance. We had been working with our card holder company for over a month to resolve this issue. Hilton has NOT been responsive, we called the front desk and billing team and no one has been helpful or even bothered to returned our calls. Just today we found out from our call holder company that Hilton claimed the double charge is valid and that we booked two rooms...which is completely false. Again this is due to the glitch they experienced but instead of resolving this and communicating with us. They make up a bogus claim... This will be the last time we stay at the Hilton. If they can't fix their mistakes and then try to make the customer pay for...it's not a brand worth dealing with...
As a frequent traveler and Diamond member/HGV Club owner with Hilton, this is my top pick for a fun Alexandria stay. We stay here frequently- we ride the Amtrak up north, walk across the street, enjoy the evening, then metro to the airport. This hotel is cozy, at the top of King street (close to Amtrak, metro, and a big bus hub), which brings you less than a mile to the water front- a walk that is only made even better as you walk through historic Old Town. We were greeted by the restaurant manager who was kind and friendly, communicated any specials and items on the menu that have changed slightly. Rooms were dark and quiet, surprising given the proximity to the metro! Beds were warm and cozy. TV worked just fine (we watched the Lions lose). We will return next time we want to stay in Alexandria. Come out and visit so we can enjoy the restaurant with you! These recent one star reviews feel fake or improperly informed. The beds were comfortable, shower/bath worked just fine, and there isn’t a pool so I don’t know what that one guy was talking about. Sounds like the other person didn’t have travel insurance or book the right room so they could cancel without a charge. Travel better/smarter and don’t blame the hotel for your issues. Another traveler frequently rates hotels and restaurants low for “rude staff”- honestly, I’m wondering if that is a cultural thing and maybe that reviewer is rude to the staff. Be smart about what reviews you read and who you receive info from.
We have stayed here several times. Good location for train station access to Washington. A short walk into town. The rooms and hotel in general are a little tired and in need of a refresh. But then the pricing reflects this. Might stay again or might pay the premium and be closer to main St.
My Girlfriend booked a few nights recently at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town hotel as we have stayed here quite a few times before. Our flight got cancelled unfortunately out of New York hence we tried contacting the Hotel front desk to notify them, we tried calling over approximately 25 times over the span of the next 2 days and no one answered. Than Hilton honors tried and still no answer. We finally got a hold of Sherri Cooper the Manager or General Manager who said that she would definitely refund our monies after she stated it would reflect after a few bussiness days. The money was never refunded, very unprofessional on her part. We contacted our credit card company as well and they stated that this Hotel is declining to refund your money. We will never come back here. Thank You Sherri for keeping your word. As a Gold Member we have never been treated this way at any other Hilton Hotel.
Outdated rooms. One tv didn't work also fridge made a clicking sound the entire time. pool had cloudy water and looked unsanitary as well as the dirty tile floors arpund pool which were super slippery and unsafe. Breakfast was good and lobby area was ok . Other then that I wouldn't recommend. Also parking is $40 a day for the hotel garage you would think it would be free. Will not be visiting again
