The AKA White House offers spacious suites in a central Washington, D.C. location, providing a convenient base for exploring the city’s monuments and museums. Guests consistently praise the property’s size, location, and stylish design, particularly highlighting the well-equipped kitchens and convenient amenities. However, some reviews have raised concerns about potential issues with cleanliness, inconsistent service, and unexpected fees.
This place is such a great deal, it's like a mini apartment! We got a 1 bedroom suite and it had 1.5 bathrooms with a full kitchen. The amount of space is great and everything was clean. We stayed here for 4 nights and I always appreciated coming back to relax here because it was very quiet and had enough space to relax in. They had a multi-cup coffee machine and we didn't realize until checking out that you can get coffee from the front desk! That would have been great to know as we bought coffee and filters to use. The location is also great, you're practically in a central location to see the monuments and museums. If you want to reduce the amount of walking, the main bus stop we used was about 2 blocks away. For future trips, I'll definitely keep an eye out for AKA brand hotels as we had a great stay here.
My stay at the AKA White House in Washington, D.C., was nothing short of exceptional. Perfect for both business and leisure, this luxury property masterfully blends the refined hospitality of a high-end hotel with the comfort and privacy of an upscale apartment. ?The premier location—just blocks from the White House and the National Mall—is unbeatable, yet the property manages to feel like a quiet, sophisticated oasis. I was blown away by the incredible amount of space. The suite was brilliantly designed, featuring contemporary furnishings, a fully equipped kitchen with top-tier appliances, and dedicated workspaces.
Chose this location due to its close proximity to the major landmarks. I had a first-timer to DC with me and wanted to give him the full experience. We weren't able to check in early but the front desk was able to take our bags so that we could go out and explore. The hotel was designed nicely, and seems like it's well-equipped for extended stays with the kitchenette and laundry directly in the room. Our unit had 1.5 bathrooms so that was really handy. Toiletries are available if you need them. The space was very big for the price we paid. Some of the bathroom fixtures were a little outdated but very clean. Our stay included 2 drink cards, but neither of us drink alcohol. The bartender was SO SWEET and made us a Shirley Temple and another mocktail that she randomly concocted after learning about my preferred flavor profile. This is penultimate as a bartender--knowing your crowd. Honestly, she was the highlight of our stay at AKA White House. There was also a live musician when we were at the bar. It really set the mood. Also, looks like they show different movies every night in the theater between the bar and front desk. Super cool!
I was pleasantly surprised by my stay here. I was there for four days and was very excited about its location. Literally just a few blocks away from the White House. Sadly, the White House says become a bunker and there is riot fencing up-even around Lafayette Square. We really appreciated the room afforded us in what is their two bedroom suite. The service was fantastic at the front desk. They offer free drinks at the bar if you’re staying in this room. They also have free coffee in the lobby, unless you wanna go out to the street and literally next-door to Panera Bread. You can also go the opposite direction around the block and down to the end of that street to Peet’s Coffee. I can tell you from DCA to the hotel in an Uber XL, it is about $30. There are two Metro stops very nearby the closest one being Farragut West, which is about a five minute walk from the hotel.
Extremely disappointed with AKA Hotels. I canceled with plenty of time, yet they kept over $1,000 of my money. A reasonable cancellation fee might be $100–$200, but taking this much feels unfair and excessive. The cancellation policy was not handled in a customer-friendly way, and I felt completely taken advantage of. I would strongly caution others before booking here — make sure you understand exactly what you could lose if your plans change. Based on my experience, I do not recommend this hotel. Answer to the “owner “ I acknowledge that I selected a non-refundable rate and understand what that generally means. However, in my past experience with other hotels, even when booking similar non-refundable options, cancellations have typically resulted in a reasonable penalty or partial charge — not the loss of more than $1,000. My concern is not that there was a cancellation policy, but that AKA’s policy is extremely harsh and inflexible, especially given the circumstances. I explained that my cancellation was due to illness, yet there was no willingness to consider any accommodation, exception, or goodwill gesture. This response from the “owner “ reinforces my view that AKA’s policies are not customer-friendly and appear designed to maximize revenue regardless of circumstance, even when a guest cancels with substantial notice and for a legitimate reason. I believe a more reasonable and compassionate approach would have been appropriate.
They had bedbugs in a $ 600-per-night room. I talked to the staff, who said they would check, but the next night the bedbugs were still there. I got rashes on my back, and the whole experience was harrowing. The utensils in my suite had mold on them, as if they hadn't been washed or dried properly. They handed me an OYO lotion, which is one of the cheapest motel brands from India - why would your staff do that? And now the classic - They deny I ever stayed with them in the response - Man up guys
AKA White House was a great experience The staff were all very nice and attentive The room was so spacious and livable and comfortable The huge window taking up the full area of the front part of the room was amazing I don’t remember all the names of the people who helped us in many ways but I can mention a few like Sergio , Henry, Steve I don’t remember the maintenance guys name but everyone there was great ? Thank you all We got to stay in two different rooms 7th floor nice room and then 10 th floor loved it The terrace was nice I enjoyed being up there especially for the fireworks on the last day of the Washington memorial 25O celebration
My wife and I traveled here for short vacation and were warmly welcomed by your staff. They were all very accommodating and helpful. It was such a relaxing atmosphere in the lobby/lounge rooms, and our suite very large, comfortable and clean. Also enjoyed the peace and quiet we had in the mornings if we wanted to sleep in. We would definitely recommend AKA White House to our friends
Exceptional stay from start to finish. The service was truly top-tier, professional, attentive, and consistent. The property is immaculate, well-appointed, and perfectly located. Quality and comfort were evident in every detail. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.
Great hotel, ideally located. The staff is kindly, friendly and helpful. The room and the common spaces were perfectly clean. Our stay there was great and I highly recommend this hotel.
