The AC Hotel by Marriott Washington DC Convention Center offers a modern, clean aesthetic and a convenient location near the convention center, with a rooftop bar and good dining options nearby. However, recent reviews highlight recurring issues with room maintenance, including plumbing problems and inconsistent service levels, impacting the overall guest experience.
The square toilet is very uncomfortable to sit on. There was one night where I was about ready to go to bed. I took my room key and went to the water machine. When I came back, my key would not let me in the room. I went down to the desk where the clerk made me a new key. I went back up to my room and still could not get in. When I came back down, there was nobody at the desk. I waited, I knock on the door, I pulled a chair up and waited some more. I got impatient and opened the door and called for somebody and finally somebody appeared and said they would need to send an engineer up. I had to go back up stairs and sit on the floor in the hall waiting for somebody to come and change the batteries on the door. It was very frustrating. A different night, the toilet in my room would not flush. I stopped at the front desk on my way to dinner and let them know and I also said I needed Kleenex, my box was out and housekeeping had not changed it. When I returned, the toilet was fixed but there was still no Kleenex. I had to go down stairs again to get a box. There was a night where I tried to shower but the water would not drain. I called the front desk. They told me the engineer was gone and It would have to wait until 6AM. I went back in the bathroom and figured out how to unstop my own drain and removed a bunch of hair, a band aid, and black sludge from the drain. It was rather disgusting and not what I would expect to have to do as a guest at a Marriott property. Also, we had to repeatedly ask for towels to be brought up and they would never bring the quantity I asked for. Overall, not my best Mariott experience.
Handy location. Rooms are clean and modern, the latter at some cost to functionality. Our cool shower door had nothing to prevent water from leaking on the floor. Friday evening traffic to the rooftop bar equals a constant amusement park style line for the elevator with no FastPass for guests. There's a stairwell but it requires a code to open. I tried 5 consecutive floors for ice and none of the tiny ice machines worked so I went to the lobby bar, got ice, got someone to unlock the stairwell, and climbed nine stories to our room. If my last name was Marriott I'd have trashed these ice machines before the doors opened. I do appreciate the glass glasses in the room and the Little fridge. Overall fine but some work to do.
I had an amazing stay at the AC Hotel Washington DC Convention Center as a solo traveler celebrating my birthday. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel so welcomed and taken care of. Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, accommodating, and genuinely kind throughout my stay. My room was very clean, comfortable, and had an amazing view that made the experience even better. One of my favorite parts of the trip was the rooftop party. The atmosphere was fun, energetic, and perfect for celebrating. The team really helped make my birthday feel personalized and special, which I truly appreciated. Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations and made my birthday trip memorable in the best way possible. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting DC, especially solo travelers looking for a welcoming and enjoyable experience.
From the moment I arrived, the customer service here stood out. The front desk team was warm, efficient, and made check-in feel effortless. What really elevated my experience, though, was the lobby bar. Lauren, the bartender, was exceptional. She was courteous, and very attentice. She anticipated my needs without me having to ask and created such a welcoming atmosphere. I arrived alone and she made great conversation, keeping me comfortable and engaged until my friends joined me. It’s rare to find service that feels this genuine. I’d absolutely return based on this experience alone.
The hotel is very nice and was very clean. Upon check in, there was a large lot ne due to a group of individual rooms being checked in by one person and only on front desk attendant. This line literally went to the entrance door and even though I checked in via mobile app, I had to wait to get a physical key. Once we got our key card, went to the room, and it was someone else's room but luckily they were not there. We then had to go back to the lobby and get the correct key. Rooms are nice but our room was a two king bed room for up to four people, yet they only put 2 towels in the bathroom. The area around the hotel is nice and many good places to eat, but as a lifetime platinum member, I am not sure we would choose this AC location again.
