The InterContinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf consistently receives high praise for its exceptional service, prime waterfront location, and stylish accommodations. Guests rave about the friendly staff, particularly the concierge team, and the hotel’s central position on the Wharf, offering easy access to restaurants and attractions. While some amenities are temporarily closed, the overall experience is considered luxurious and memorable.
I celebrated my birthday with a one-night stay at the InterContinental Washington D.C. (June 6–7, 2026), and I can sincerely say it was one of the most memorable hotel experiences I have had. From the moment we arrived, the level of care and professionalism shown by the staff set the tone for the entire stay. What stood out immediately was that a staff member was consistently positioned outside the entrance to greet us and open the doors. The rooftop pool was an absolute highlight. The setting was beautiful, well-maintained, and offered a wonderful escape right in the heart of the city. It was the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion. Overall, the InterContinental Washington D.C. delivered exceptional hospitality in every sense of the word. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming experience in Washington D.C. We will absolutely be returning.
We stayed here for a family trip and would highly recommend!! Beautiful hotel, great restaurants, spacious rooms, cool rooftop pool and amazing service. Being right on the wharf is so slick - lots of really great restaurants all walkable. And close to get to all the nearby attractions (metro, bus and Uber). But my favorite part about our stay (besides awesome memories with my kids) was our amazing concierge Shujaat Khan. One of the kindest people I have had the opportunity to meet. He went above and beyond to help us pre plan a few special events throughout the week. He helped make all of our arrangements so easy and we’re forever grateful for the hospitality. He is a true gem!
We had a wonderful stay! Our room was exceptionally clean, and the entire hotel was spotless and well-maintained. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade, which made our trip even more special. The highlight was the incredible ocean view from our room. Waking up and looking out at the beach each morning was absolutely beautiful. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and everything exceeded our expectations. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable stay with amazing views!
The InterContinental Washington D.C. – The Wharf delivers a refined, waterfront stay in one of the city’s most vibrant and walkable neighborhoods. Its positioning along the marina makes it ideal for travelers who want modern comfort paired with scenic views and immediate access to The Wharf’s restaurants, promenades, and cultural venues. Rooms are bright, contemporary, and thoughtfully arranged, with large windows and balconies overlooking the river, marina, and surrounding green spaces. The design blends soft neutral tones with metallic accents, creating a calm, upscale atmosphere. Comfortable seating areas, well?placed lighting, and functional workspaces make the rooms suitable for both relaxation and productivity. Bathrooms follow a clean, modern aesthetic, featuring illuminated mirrors, sleek vanities, and glass?enclosed showers with high?quality fixtures. The layout emphasizes simplicity and ease of use, with a cohesive palette of beige and gray tones. Common areas and in?room furnishings maintain a polished, understated luxury. Patterned carpets, marble?topped surfaces, and warm lighting contribute to a cohesive, elegant feel throughout the property. Many rooms offer direct views of the marina, adding a strong sense of place and enhancing the overall experience. The surrounding Wharf district is a major highlight, offering waterfront paths, dining, and entertainment just steps from the hotel. The combination of modern design, comfortable rooms, and a prime location makes the InterContinental a strong choice for travelers seeking a stylish, view?driven stay in Washington D.C.
From the moment we arrived we were greeted by the nicest staff. The lobby was so warm and welcoming. The check in was so easy and our rooms were so clean, comfortable and decorated beautifully. The location is perfect, right on the Wharf but also so close to many delicious restaurants, museums, and Capitol attractions. We enjoyed the Intercontinental so much we extended our stay for an extra night. We also loved how welcoming and helping all the staff were, but Aidan went above and beyond our expectation. Always so friendly and remembering our names and such attention to the details. We also enjoyed the Willowsong and the delicious food and had such a wonderful experience with Oscar, Jeremiah, and Edgar at the bar. They all made the best drinks and gave such great service. We highly recommend this hotel and we are already planning another trip back in the near future.
The Intercontinental is the best hotel in DC by far! The bartenders Oscar, Jeremiah, and Edgar at the lobby restaurant are absolutely amazing and always take good care of of us. Every time I come here I valet my car as well, Aziz makes sure the process is smooth and quick! Could not recommend staying here and eating at the restaurant more!!!
Last Friday my boyfriend were taking a walk down the walrf and stumbled into the intercontinental. We walked in and saw the bar and they were having happy hour. We sat and had a bite to eat and my boyfriend had a few drinks. Edgar saw that I wasn't drinking any alcoholic and made me a few mocktails which were delicious. Oscar whom they said was the barback was very much on point on top of everything very attentive and warm. Thats without saying he was very funny. The next time visit the warft we definitely will be stopping by to say hi to our new friends. Last Friday my boyfriend were taking a walk down the walrf and stumbled into the intercontinental. My husband surprised me with a weekend stay during Valentine’s at the Intercontinental Hotel and it was exceptional from the moment we arrived to the last day. The room was perfect with a gorgeous view. The hospitality was outstanding. Special mention to Aziz who went above and beyond in welcoming us along with Bakari. Sipan at the WillowSong was very friendly and attentive with excellent service. Jackie and Selburn very nice. Carlos Figueroa da Silva played the cello beautifully, loved it. Lastly, I want to thank Melissa at the bar for surprising me with an impromptu custom espresso martini requested by my husband. It was amazing! It was a wonderful experience!
I recently celebrated a bachelorette at the Intercontinental in the Knot Suite and had a wonderful experience. The service was flawless, and our room was beautiful. Special thanks to Lavonne, who went out of her way to make our weekend memorable. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and professionalism truly made a difference. I also want to thank Tyler, who provided excellent customer service and professionalism. Although I haven't stayed at the other Wharf hotels, considering the price, amenities, and service, I believe this one is the best option. I highly recommend it and will definitely return for future visits to the Wharf.
The location is perfect, by the side of the wharf, has the best view and convenience to the capitol an so on. Room is spacious and well decorated. All services that we encountered is great! (Tbh, the best we had throughout our trip here in the US) Very good hotel, highly recommend!!
