Coming in from Boston after the big blizzard of 2026, I walked in to the hotel with my shoes all beat up. Can't go to the hill with shabby shoes! But Dino saved me. In the lobby by the gift shop, he took his 47 years of experience and brought my shoes back from the brink. Not only that, but he let me know all the places to go, is friendly and just a good man. I'll stay there again just to see him again! The rooms are great and the staff are friendly and competent. Nice location to the hill, and a safe place to walk around. Go stay there, and tell Dino Dave from Job Corps sent you. Tip well.

Modern makeover since the last time I came! Rooms were upgraded and comfortable with very comfortable glass shower and premium shower heads. Great location for an easy walk to senate buildings and supreme court. Congressional buildings just on the other side of the Capital building. Convenient spot for anyone visiting the capital.

The good: Bed is very comfortable. Hotel is newly renovated. Location is convenient. Espresso martinis at the bar were delicious. In room Nespresso coffee is top notch. The terrible: We are Globalists and travel often. This is the first Hyatt in any category where almost every service employee we encountered appeared to be overworked and absolutely miserable to be working there. Breakfast was busy. The host was telling people who wanted to order from the menu that it would take a long time to get their food, so many had to opt for the buffet instead. F&B here needs a complete overhaul because there were numerous guest complaints during breakfast. On offer was a bare minimum breakfast buffet. Disappointing for a Regency. The limited selection, even the way the fruit was cut, GREEN bananas - falls so short of a 4 star hotel. I've had a better breakfast experience at a Hyatt Park Place. Food was room temperature, lacked any imagination, with no effort put forth to ensure that the most basic buffet food even be done correctly, or at the very least, be fresh and warm. Scrambled eggs were extremely dry and rubbery. The gravy for biscuits and gravy was cold. The muffins and pastries were old and stale. Additionally, there is no need to put big cast iron lids on top of big cast iron pots if you can't be bothered to heat the food going into the pots. The lids are very heavy and cumbersome when you've already got a plate in one hand. This fails ergonomically and functionally. If the restaurant being very busy for breakfast is the reason for all these failures, it reflects bad planning/scheduling. This isn't on servers or kitchen staff. This is on the manager working a skeletal crew. Due to bad weather, we stayed in for lunch. Before being seated, the same host from breakfast tried to discourage us from eating there, saying it was "packed" and service would be slow. He said the same to several guests that arrived after us. I was confused by the word "packed" and thought they were expecting a big party to arrive soon. None ever did. As you can see, it was in fact, NOT packed. The "slow service" he preempted was due to extreme understaffing. There were 2 waiters and 2 bussers for the entire restaurant. Food was average, but pricing was reasonable for a Hyatt Regency. Nothing I had today I would order again, though. Staff were visibly strained and struggling to keep up. Host was right. Service was terribly slow. After lunch, we left the restaurant and stopped at the mini store to pick up a few snacks. Both women behind the counter could not have been more unfriendly and unwelcoming, even when greeted with smiles. We were clearly an inconvenience to them. Usually, when misery is this widespread, it's likely not staff, but rather a lack of support from management, bad working conditions, or inadequate training/oversight. I honestly believe restaurant waitstaff did the best they could given their circumstances. Not sure about the ladies at the shop, though. They appear to lack the disposition needed for customer service. Rooms here may be shiny and new, but a large portion of the employees that interact with guests are unhappy, exhausted, understaffed, inadequately trained, and it reflects in the guest's experience. Exceptions: Front desk. A shout-out to Megan Cantor whose exuberance and great customer service was wonderful, as well as Grace who was super helpful and nice. We have to come to DC often so I checked options. There is a Grand Hyatt one mile from this Regency. I just now learned that Hyatt Regency caters to conventions and masses of people, which explains so much of my experience here. Grand Hyatt offers a more luxurious, catered experience. Grand Hyatt is where we will be staying on our future trips to DC.

Best Hyatt Experience Ever My girl and I decided to check out the place after its renovation. Safe to say they did a spectacular job on everything. Mohammed is a front desk manager and he is the definition of hospitality. Warm greeting and very knowledgeable. Feidi is a front desk agent and she was very sweet and respectful. Our server Maya was awesome at dinner time Sunday 02/15 evening. She was busy but was able to manage all her tables including us with outstanding service. Monday night 02/16 we went to the regency club. Christian was very attentive in the club even tho we did not dine in. I think that’s important and he did an amazing job.

The gym was my favorite part! There are of treadmills, bikes, free weights, and weigh systems. And it’s right by the pool. Water machines. Nice view of outside. The indoor pool was so-so. Kind of small and murky, 3.5’ at shallow end, 4.5’ at deep end. The staff at check in, check out, bag holding, the bar, and Starbucks were all super friendly. The beds and pillows are super cozy! The hotel room walls seem to be paper thin. The next room’s morning alarm woke me up, and I could hear her entire morning routine. The air conditioner is super loud and kicks on/off all night without the option for Fan On mode. Excellent location, especially if walking or training around.

We stayed in the remodeled Capitol Suite and it was a showstopper with a dual entry bathroom and sanctuary bedroom with no windows which made for amazing sleep. The bathroom was beautiful and a great layout with a soaker tub. Space was huge and felt really nice with the corner window. This is the only room in the hotel with an actual view of the Capitol, but it's partially obscured by the building next door. Pool is a nice touch and great to have heated and indoors with an amazing gym space. The front desk staff were kind and quick to address a small issue we had. Did not dine or drink here. I asked that a manager reach out to me because the suite we booked was over $1,000 and even though we were celebrating a birthday, which was noted on the reservation and to the front desk, but no amenities, not even a card or note was provided to make the stay feel special. With it being a Regency property, just remodeled, and booking an expensive suite I would have thought this would be a priority for the hotel. A manger unfortunately has yet to contact me or reach out like requested for me to discuss the miss as well as an unfortunate incident with a valet attendant who was exceptionally rude. We've stayed and celebrated at Regency properties all over the country and normally they go above and beyond with an extra amenity or two in the room. This didn't stop a positive review however because the hotel is truly lovely. Pro Tip- save from paying for valet by using spothero and parking at the Hall of States garage across the street.

Everything was wonderful! Located two blocks away from the national mall, we walked to the Capitol Hill, the botanical garden, various museums as far as the natural history museum. The facility is newly renovated and so stunning. All the staff we encountered were delightful. Our room had a minor issue and Samantha from the front desk helped us resolve it quickly. Kids enjoyed hours of play in the beautiful pool area, including a great shower facility. The gym is arguably the best hotel gym I’ve been to with tons of cardio machines, weight machines, free weights etc. the breakfast was great - it’s buffet style with rotating selection of savory and sweet, hot and cold - very wide spread that satisfies the diverse food preference of our group. Our waitress who was an Asian woman was attentive and kept the coffee flowing for the two days we ate there (didn’t get her name). Dinner at the onsite restaurant was a pleasant experience with helpful staff like Wilson. Hamid from the bell staff was very helpful as well. Highly recommend!!

We stayed just one night at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill with our family, but the experience left a lasting impression. During check-in, I realized I had misplaced my wallet, which meant I didn’t have my ID or credit cards. The front desk associate, Amz, never overreacted or made the situation stressful. Instead, he calmly told me to remain at ease and assured me he would still get us checked in—and he did. Thankfully, I later found my wallet, but his kindness and patience in that moment meant everything. Because it was a late check-in, dining options were limited, but Amz thoughtfully walked us through what was still available and even went above and beyond by offering us a complimentary drink at the bar. His professionalism, compassion, and genuine hospitality made us feel truly welcome after a long day. That one interaction defined our entire stay. Because of this experience, this hotel will be my first choice every time I come to DC. Exceptional service like this is rare, and it deserves to be recognized.

I stayed in the executive suite for 4 nights using an Suite Upgrade Award in late October. The room was newly renovated and great. The Regency Club was under renovation, but they provide a voucher for a very nice breakfast buffet at the restaurant (if you have club access). Unfortunately I ran in to a few issues with housekeeping, which really ruined the stay. I normally stay at Hyatt Place, so I was expecting the Regency to better given the brand and price, but I definitely didn't feel that way with the issues I had. For Hyatt Globalist: They offered early check-in, late checkout, daily bottles of water and breakfast vouchers and $20 room service credit, since the regency club is under renovation. When I got into bed Sunday night, it felt like I was sleeping in a bed with sand in it. Unclear what the grainy substance was, but I spent 10 minutes sweeping the bed clean around midnight. On Monday, I asked to have the bed remade. That evening I was unable to find my retainers that I had left by the bathroom sink. Tuesday I did not request housekeeping, but that evening, whrn I returned to the room after a late dinner and found that housekeeping had taken all the bathroom towels even the clean unused one. I called the front desk, and they said they would send someone up, but after waiting 30 minutes no one came and I just went to bed. Wednesday morning I was in the room when housekeeping came by. I had forgotten about the towels and said I didn't need anything, however the housekeeper followed up by asking "Do you need 2 towels?". I'm grateful they remembered that I needed towels, but that also means they knew they didn't deliver them last night. While the front desk was friendly, they never found my retainers and I had to spend $350 to get them replaced.

I recently stayed at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill and had an amazing experience. As a Globalist and loyal Hyatt guest, it’s always refreshing to meet team members who truly care about what they do. A huge thank-you to Do Banh from the breakfast restaurant — her warmth, gentle care, and personal touch made our mornings special every day. Also, a special recognition to Mohammad Alhaire, Assistant Front Office Manager, for his professionalism and kindness. He helped us with road closure updates during the government shutdown and went above and beyond with his friendly suggestions. Under his leadership, the entire front desk team was consistently welcoming and kind. The rooms are super comfortable after the recent renovation, everything feels fresh and thoughtfully designed. The rates are very reasonable, and the hotel is centrally located and convenient for walking around, making it easy to explore the city. Thank you for such a memorable stay — we look forward to returning soon!
