The Westin Georgetown receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its convenient location and friendly staff, while others report significant issues with room temperatures, AC malfunctions, and unexpected fees. Despite positive feedback regarding the staff and amenities, numerous complaints highlight recurring problems with room maintenance, particularly regarding the air conditioning and overall cleanliness.
Love staying here and would’ve given 5 stars, HOWEVER, flabbergasted that what is usually the complimentary coffee bar at all tiers of other hotels actually had a sign that it’s $4 per coffee unless I go get a voucher in my room (I’d come from the gym). To my room I went. Said vouchers are equally valid for alcoholic bevs - wild its equivalent. This charge for the coffee station is shocking when friends couldn’t stay here with me because nightly rates had jumped to $1,000 two weeks ago. I propose that coffee in a paper cup at a station guests use self service should be complimentary for hotel guests.
Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived at 5pm. We were provided another room with a faulty AC while our room was getting ready. We were offered free drinks, but later we found out that the drinks could only be before 10:30 or after 4pm. Our flight got cancelled and front desk was not able to help extend our reservation. Their solution was for me to call a 1800 number and try to make a reservation. It’s a nice hotel, a bit old, staff is nice but not very helpful. I don’t understand why this hotel charges a $30 extra per night as a destination fee. It sounds like a scam to me
WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN This is my second time staying at this Westin. I don't remember this location being this terrible so it was a HUGE let down. It's honestly surprising based on the better than average Google reviews. First the positives, of which there are few. The staff are all extremely friendly and go above and beyond to accommodate. It's a convenient location in Georgetown, and yeah that's it. Checked in late first night, the room felt around 80° F and was super uncomfortable. I put the thermostat to lowest setting and touged it out because I was tired from traveling. Next day after work I mentioned the room AC wasn't working and they graciously changed my room however that room AC didn't work either. I was moved again that evening to another room which didn't work either. I'm now in the 4th room and it still doesn't cool down. The hotel AC seems permanently down and it's a summer of record heat. The manager called me but I was at work and stopped by the desk and was told she was on break and would call me after. Never received a call from anyone and tried calling her back and also called the front desk via Bonvoy App number, and neither is answering my calls. I travel for work and am a Titanium Elite member and have received far better assistance and service at a basic Courtyard than this location. PLEASE BEWARE AND DONT BOOK HERE.
We stayed there for an overnight with our dog and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was helpful and really nice, the amenities were really great, and the rooms were comfortable. It’s walking distance to downtown Georgetown and there’s plenty of restaurants nearby. They were also very dog friendly with a below average dog fee. I Highly recommend it.
I have been coming to GT Westin since my daughter's senior year in HS and here this weekend for his graduation from GT. We used to love this hotel. Decent location, the courtyard was great and fitness center/pool were decent. 2 plus years ago they closed the courtyard and added a below average restaurant and then added at $30 resort fee to the bill. The restaurant/ambience was very average but you could grab something quick or grab a drink and watch a game. Checked in this week and now that restaurant is closed so at night they put up a small bar in the crowded lobby where you can use your tickets to get a drink or order overpriced food served in Styrofoam box and then eat on the lobby chairs. Also, it is mid May and 90 degrees in DC and they are working on the pool (like they couldnt have done this all march/April) so its closed and the one good weight machine (pullups, cables etc) is now gone in the free weight room so they have a leg press and alot dumbells up to 50 lbs. So basically nothing. Losing the courtyard ruined the character of this hotel....the rooms are small with no desk space but not having a refrigerator is terrible. Not sure how they think you are chilling your room temperature water bottles Anyway, dont write many reviews but my daughter is staying DC and I am her apt is near the WEstin. I am also here often for business but this will be the last time I stay here. I really dont mind paying alot but the price you pay should be reflective of the value you get. A hampton Inn or Embassy suite are cheaper and actually have food and/or a real bar. Fairmont is a tad more expensive but bar/restaurant and outside area are incredible. Spend a little more and your experience will be 10x better. Someone who has made all these bad decisions really needs to be fired.
The Westin was in a great location within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Valet was great! The hot apple cider in the lobby was delicious. Wish they had kept the fruit infused water out all day. Hotel restaurant was delicious and never crowded. Burger and truffle fries were tasty. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was amazing. We enjoyed our stay!
Great hotel awesome beds and bathrooms. The restaurant down stairs cooked a great new York strip. The Uptowner Cafe across the street has a great selection of room friendly snacks, Ramen and drinks for your stay
I had a wonderful stay at the Westin Georgetown! The staff were incredibly professional, welcoming, and attentive from check-in to check-out. The room was spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained, making it easy to relax after a long day. The location is perfect—quiet yet close to great dining and attractions. Overall, an excellent experience and I would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommended!
We had a great visit. It started with a bit of a challenge as a water pipe was in the process of repairs. The staff were very helpful and offered to put us up elsewhere, but the problem was fix right when expected so we were able to stay. We got a small credit for the difficulty so we had a cocktail on the house.
The Westin Georgetown is well situated, providing easy walking access to the shops and restaurants of Georgetown. Service ? The front desk team was a highlight. Check-in was efficient and the staff was genuinely helpful - they shared 4-5 excellent restaurant recommendations within walking distance, which saved us time searching for dinner. The Room and Amenities ?? The room was clean, modern, and spacious. ?? The fitness center is excellent and much larger than a standard hotel gym. Featuring Peloton bikes, rowing machines, and even standalone lat pulldown and leg weight machines, it is great for a workout. ?? The on-site public dining area was styled with wood paneling and tables, and it was convenient for grabbing a coffee and toast in the morning. Parking: The on-site garage is spacious and convenient (compared to other Georgetown parking options). Overall A reliable, comfortable choice for business or leisure travel in D.C. with excellent access to the city.
