The Washington Marriott Georgetown offers a centrally located stay with decent service and a convenient location for exploring Georgetown. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistencies in room quality, noise issues, and issues with elite member treatment, alongside a few outdated amenities and occasional staff inconsistencies.
Does not honor individual Bonvoy status if your company books the room for you. Stay elsewhere that actually cares about your business if possible. Also the have a bunch of kids standing around in the Lobby wearing "Marriott Hotel Special Police" jackets in order to make you feel safe. Lol!
Stayed at the hotel after the big snow of 2026. Check-in was smooth Ginger Angel was fantastic. Her smile and calm demeanor easily put a tired traveler at ease. The room was clean and comfortable. The lounge was well stocked.
Stayed here for 1 night for business - solid Marriott but certainly not the nicest Marriott I've stayed in. Didn't really have a Marriott feel, maybe a bit closer to a courtyard feel. Overall rooms/hallways/building felt it was getting just a bit dated, but rooms were clean and nice enough. Shower had lower water pressure, towels were just okay (a bit scratchy but not terrible), and bed/pillows were fine. I have Gold status and was put in a room on the 5th floor with absolutely no view - I should have asked for a higher floor with a view but it's in my profile. If you have a preference I would be sure to ask when you check in as some rooms are just looking at a roof out the window. Breakfast quality was average for these types of properties, but service was excellent I had a veggie omelet within 10 minutes of entering the restaurant. Coffee was also particularly good, unexpectedly so for coffee served with breakfast which isn't usually very good. Also not sure about the area but there was a fair bit of yelling on the street at like 11pm-12am. Could have been a one off. Overall this is an okay hotel. Just fine.
Not sure what their eggs are made of, but they don’t taste like normal eggs—even the woman who prepared them admitted they’re strange, they pour them from a bag. To be fair, they look and taste the same as “eggs” at residence Inn in Fairfield Inn. We have been loyal Marriott customers for years, and I don’t understand why so many of their hotels have frosted glass in their bathroom doors. It’s not like it really does anything for style because, at least in most of the rooms, the doorway opens into a hallway. All I know is when you’re sharing the room with somebody and they need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, it lights up the entire room when they close the door and turn the bathroom lights on. Pretty bad design unless you’re staying by yourself. Also Marriott feels like they’re being penny-wise and pound-foolish by charging the elite members in their M club lounge happy hour for a glass of wine or domestic unimaginative beer. I know when we’ve stayed at Hyatt properties. Hyatt, at least at the properties where we’ve stayed, treated their elites with a little more deference. The staff were nice, the facilities were fairly clean and well kempt, and it’s a perfectly fine place to stay. Just don’t expect to be blown away. Also be sure your staff are properly trained, or adequately supervised, when they are checking in people to the hotel. Our guy was clearly new and extremely nice, but he didn’t know a lot about the elite benefits, and of course we didn’t know what the hotel offered either.
3 stars is a passing grade. The hotel is the stereotype of a basic "nice" hotel. It's like a PB&J sandwich with sugar free peanut butter and jelly. Not terrible, not great. BUT, to be clear, I did not enjoy my stay. There was a lingering noise that came from the AC unit. I was initially moved to another room, a downgrade, but the noise was only quiter. Not eliminated. Something wrong with the system. That's specific to my experience. Overall, the hotel was, fine. Nothing special but nothing too horrendous. The experience is what I'd expect from a basic Marriott--good enough not to complain but not good enough to cheer. Location was good.
This is exactly what you’d expect from an upper-mid tier Marriott—nothing more, nothing less. The lobby is modern and spacious but forgettable. Staff are friendly and helpful. The location is great—very walkable, with easy access to restaurants, shops, and everything a traveler needs. The rooms are standard issue. You can tell it’s been remodeled, but also that it was done on a budget: seams showing, missing caulk, little details overlooked. A few misses: The TVs are ancient in function, if not in size. The remote lags, streaming services freeze, and the whole setup feels Y2K. The in-room coffee is weak and disappointing—at this price point, better coffee should be a given. Still handing out tiny plastic water bottles instead of offering hydration stations, which even budget hotels are now doing. Overall? Not bad, not great. Perfectly “meh.” You’ll be fine staying here, but you won’t remember it.
This review is for a two-night stay in June 2025. This hotel deserves its reputation for great service at the front desk and restaurant. The agent who checked me in was engaging and extremely helpful. The rooms are typical of the flagship Marriott label — well appointed, comfortable and modern. Excellent location within walking distance of Georgetown proper and close to great attractions and restaurants. Will definitely return when I'm back in town.
I had a wonderful stay at the Washington Marriott Georgetown! The service was exceptional. The front desk ladies, Aretha and Nathaly, were incredibly welcoming, professional, and attentive always ready with a smile! The manager Danielle went above and beyond to make sure my experience was perfect, ensuring every detail was taken care of. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained. This hotel is very well run thanks to its amazing staff, and thank you to the entire team for making my stay so enjoyable I will definitely be returning!
.My stay at this hotel was disappointing for several reasons. During check-in, the receptionist was assisting another guest and mentioned they were receiving a special deal but asked them to keep it quiet. When I inquired about the deal, she smirked at me, turned to the guest, and said, "See that?" before going silent. When I later asked my receptionist about it, she said she would check and get back to me. Eventually, I was told it was the destination fee. If the hotel is offering special deals, they should be more discreet and considerate of guests paying full price. As for the room, I stayed in the Peanut Suite on the 8th floor, which was spacious but incredibly noisy. The street noise was unbearable—any loud vehicle sounded like it was right in the bedroom. Additionally, the air conditioning was subpar, making the stay even more uncomfortable. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had.
I often stay here for business trips. Rooms are hit and miss but anything high overlooking M street is a decent room. Bar staff have been there for years and provide good, friendly service. Best feature by far is its location, especially if you enjoy morning walks...close to DuPont Circle, Wisconsin Georgetown and even the Lincoln Memorial. Plenty to see and enjoy along your stroll. Or perhaps a brisk evening walk for dinner at #ChefGeoff, #Ris or #Clyde's in proper Georgetown. Bon Appetit!!
