Guests generally praise the AC Hotel's sleek design, modern rooms, and rooftop views, noting that it offers a conv- enient yet sophisticated base for exploring Capitol Hill. However, there is significant negative feedback regarding inadequate amenities (like inconsistent water temperature and no in-room microwaves), unannounced fees, and noise issues from neighboring restaurants.
Picture this: you step into **AC Hotel Washington DC Capitol Hill Navy Yard** and it instantly feels like D.C. decided to dress sharp and loosen its tie. The vibe is sleek, European-inspired, and confidently minimal—everything feels intentional, from the clean lines to the quiet hum of modern luxury. It’s the kind of place where mornings start with strong espresso and sunlight pouring through floor-to-ceiling windows, and nights end on the rooftop with a cocktail in hand, watching the Capitol glow in the distance. Outside, the **Navy Yard** buzzes with life—waterfront walks, ballpark energy, and restaurants that turn a casual evening into a story worth telling. Inside, the hotel feels like a calm counterbalance to the city’s intensity: crisp rooms, plush beds, and that satisfying sense that nothing is cluttered, not even your thoughts. It’s not just a place to sleep—it’s a place to **feel plugged into the city without being overwhelmed by it**. Perfect for travelers who like their history close, their design sharp, and their experiences just a little bit elevated.
Great location however our room on the 3rd floor smelled of fried food it was like coming out the vents in the hall. We had no water pressure and no hot water. Taking a shower was just awful. Our room must have been under a restaurant as you could hear furniture or something being moved around above. Would have expected better from a Marriott.
This AC was decent compared to others I’ve stayed at. The location was good, with a partial Capitol view that was a nice touch. My main issue was that the bar wasn’t open during my stay, and the restaurant hours were inconsistent. I was told it would open at 5, then later, and after returning multiple times, I was ultimately told it wouldn’t open at all. There was a bar next door, which helped. Overall, the experience was just okay. I’d return, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.
Pros: Service at check in and check out was great. Lobby and rooms were both tidy/clean. Nice location. The Whole Foods across the street was very convenient! Overall, definitely a nice place to stay in the area, would stay again. The staff made the experience very seamless and pleasant. Cons: Water pressure was weak. Beds were a bit below standard: hard and lumpy pillows.
I’d love to give this hotel a better review but unfortunately they like to nickel and dime their customers. For starters they charge $60 plus $10.80 per day to park your vehicle. So for a two night stay you’ve spent a nights rate just to park. Avoid any of the add ons they email you about. They do not honor them. I chose the $100 credit for $85 at Smoke and Mirrors (the hotel restaurant) and even showed it to my waitress when I charged my meal to my room. When I checked out the credit was no where on my bill. When I inquired with the front desk they credited only $85 towards the bill instead of the $100 the deal offered. When I went back and asked why it was only $85 and not $100 I was told that’s what “the website” told her to credit and that she couldn’t do anything else without a manager. When I asked about getting a manager involved she said they weren’t available. Trying to steal $85 from your customers is bad enough but squeezing me for $15 once I caught you is unconscionable. Do better!
I will not be back to this hotel. I thought having the Marriott name it would be ok. My first day, the whole floor smelled like someone was frying chicken. I had to go buy a candle for my room so I didn't smell it. If you think you can relax after a long day with a nice hot shower ?, guess again. I stayed 3 nights and the water out of the shower was luke warm at best the whole time. The water in the bathroom sink never even got warm. I had to have the room refrigerator replaced because the temp. kept going up (warmer) instead of down (colder) to prevent my leftovers from spoiling. No microwave in the room. It is located way over by the elevators in a little cubby. The walls are paper thin in this building. I could hear the whole conversation of my neighbors one afternoon. There are no rugs or carpet. It's all laminate floors in the room. This is not a place to stay and get comfortable. I had to use the second bed as a place to lay out and keep my clothing because there are no drawers to put things in. ? Wrapping up, I will say the beds are comfortable and Whole Foods is right across the street. Dissappinting accommodations in Washington, DC.
I had a very comfortable stay in this updated hotel with comfortable beds and friendly staff. Victor at the front desk was extremely personable and friendly and helped get us into our room early. The rooftop and views are fantastic so don't miss that AND the buffet breakfast is excellent. Easy in and out for my uber drivers too. I would stay here again for sure!
Get ready to pay more than they quote you... While the room was fine and the staff were friendly enough, we left feeling nickel and dimed by undisclosed fees. The most egregious, to me, of the undisclosed fees was the parking. After paying $270 for a room for one night, we also had to pay $60 for parking. Ok. That's fine. They were clear about that price. Upon checkout, the receptionist confirmed that the cost for parking was $60 (which would be taken out of the $100 incidental hold that was put on my card at check-in) and that she would email the receipt. After departing, I checked my email and noticed an 18% parking tax that I had never seen before while staying in DC and that wasn't noted anywhere. I reached out to the hotel to express concern about the lack of disclosure (which, again, I had never encountered elsewhere). Their response was that that they would "review procedures" for the future. I expect more from a 4 star hotel. I expect better communication and disclosure and a sincere attempt at remedying a situation when they failed to provide that communication and disclosure. We stayed at this hotel because it was the hotel of choice for a friend's wedding. In the future, we will stay at another hotel a few blocks away which, in our experience, has never charged an additional fee/tax for parking in their garage, included more amenities, and was much more transparent about any potential additional fees.
one of the most barren and sterile hotel rooms I have ever entered. A threadbare bed cover with multiple snags in the cheap fabric. Bare and depressing decor. No value for the cost of the room and ridiculous for them to charge my credit card $100 since I have already paid in full for the room.
Absolutely loved my stay at this hotel with my boyfriend. The room was so chic and modern looking as well as the bathroom. Everything is so up to date. The associates were so kind and helpful, definitely a great experience even with just asking a simple question. The Navy Yard metro station is just a 6 minute walk away from the hotel which is so convenient! The parking was a little confusing due to me and my boyfriend using vallet for the first time so that part was a little confusing but it was great so we didn't have to worry about finding nearby parking. I would definitely come back for another stay.
