The AC Hotel Washington DC Capitol Hill Navy Yard receives generally positive reviews, praised for its sleek, modern design, convenient location near the Navy Yard and the Smithsonian, and excellent rooftop restaurant. However, some guests have reported issues with inconsistent service, limited amenities, and unexpected fees, particularly regarding parking.
I had a really great stay at AC Hotel. The space was clean and felt just right—not overly large, but more than enough room to be comfortable. Everything felt fresh and well-maintained. The bathroom, which is a big deal for me, was spotless and fully stocked, which I definitely appreciated. But what truly stood out—the icing on the cake—was the restaurant. The food completely blew me away. I’ve never felt the urge to personally thank a chef before, but this time I had to. Every bite was incredible—perfectly prepared, flavorful, and memorable. That chicken, in particular, was melt-in-your-mouth good. The food made me feel like how I imagined being breastfed as a baby felt it. Honestly, the meal was so satisfying it caught me off guard—I wasn’t even hungry when I started, but I couldn’t stop eating. It was exactly what I didn’t know I was craving. I’ll definitely be coming back. Big up chef lady boss (I believe her name is Nani) please correct me if I am wrong so I can update the post with the correct name. Thanks.
Great stay for a book event! The staff was friendly, polite, and very helpful. Location is close to museums and monuments, which was a plus. Parking is limited and valet is $75/day—not really worth it. Not much within walking distance besides a grocery store. Rooftop restaurant had a nice vibe, but my food was a bit overcooked. I’d recommend for solo travelers, but not ideal for families.?
The hotel was nice and located near restaurants and a Whole Foods, the gym was fantastic, the view from the rooftop restaurant and food were excellent, the rooms were small and without a closet, but the service was terrible. It took over 40 minutes for the waitress to return to even check on us after taking our order on a moderately busy night. In the morning they charged me for a breakfast that was included in the rate. Won’t stay here again.
I reserved a block of rooms for my wedding in Navy Yard. Our room was incredible, and the rest of the hotel was really nice too. We were so busy we didn't make it to the rooftop, but I know we'll be back. Everyone we interacted with was helpful and kind. Our POC in the sales department, Elaine was extremely helpful, responsive, and accommodating when I had questions. We are very happy we stayed here!
? Overall Impression Overall, this was a great stay, and I would certainly return. The hotel is clean, modern, and clearly in high demand. During my visit, there were several large groups present — including my own group of nearly 100 people — which created a lively and busy atmosphere throughout the property. ? Location & Surroundings The location is excellent. The hotel is situated in a vibrant and convenient area with easy access to restaurants, coffee shops, and daily necessities. Having a Whole Foods Market just across the street was especially helpful. One of the true highlights is the rooftop patio and restaurant on the 11th floor, offering a breathtaking view toward Capitol Hill — simply beautiful, especially at sunset. ?? Rooms & Cleanliness My experience with the rooms was mixed but ultimately positive. • The first room felt a bit more worn, and I was disappointed to notice stains on the pillow (photos provided). • After changing rooms, the second room was much better — clean, well-prepared, with enough towels and an overall impeccable presentation. This shows the hotel is capable of excellent standards when consistency is maintained. ? Gym & Facilities The fitness center is outstanding — spacious, well equipped, and far above what many hotels offer. This was a major plus for my stay. ? Breakfast Experience Breakfast was excellent, with high-quality protein options and a good variety overall. Presentation was very good, and the kitchen team clearly takes pride in their work. One observation: service in the breakfast area felt a little rushed and somewhat rough in tone, even though it came from a place of diligence and good intention. Plates were cleared very quickly — sometimes without asking — and hosting interactions could benefit from a more gentle and polished approach. ? Rooftop Bar Service The rooftop bar has an amazing atmosphere and view, but in the evening service was slow. I waited several minutes just to place an order and eventually gave up. With such a beautiful setting, improving bar responsiveness would significantly enhance the guest experience. ??? Front Desk & Overall Service Front desk staff were consistently present and helpful, which I appreciated. At the same time, throughout the hotel there is an opportunity for professional polishing — more warmth, attentiveness, and refined hospitality. My impression is that due to very high demand and large group bookings, the team is working hard but sometimes under pressure. ? ? A Word of Encouragement Thank you to the entire team — especially those in the kitchen — for your hard work and commitment. Your effort shows, and the foundation for an outstanding guest experience is clearly there. With a bit more consistency and gentle refinement in service style, this hotel can truly move from very good to exceptional. I will most definitely stay here again.
Picture this: you step into **AC Hotel Washington DC Capitol Hill Navy Yard** and it instantly feels like D.C. decided to dress sharp and loosen its tie. The vibe is sleek, European-inspired, and confidently minimal—everything feels intentional, from the clean lines to the quiet hum of modern luxury. It’s the kind of place where mornings start with strong espresso and sunlight pouring through floor-to-ceiling windows, and nights end on the rooftop with a cocktail in hand, watching the Capitol glow in the distance. Outside, the **Navy Yard** buzzes with life—waterfront walks, ballpark energy, and restaurants that turn a casual evening into a story worth telling. Inside, the hotel feels like a calm counterbalance to the city’s intensity: crisp rooms, plush beds, and that satisfying sense that nothing is cluttered, not even your thoughts. It’s not just a place to sleep—it’s a place to **feel plugged into the city without being overwhelmed by it**. Perfect for travelers who like their history close, their design sharp, and their experiences just a little bit elevated.
Great location however our room on the 3rd floor smelled of fried food it was like coming out the vents in the hall. We had no water pressure and no hot water. Taking a shower was just awful. Our room must have been under a restaurant as you could hear furniture or something being moved around above. Would have expected better from a Marriott.
This AC was decent compared to others I’ve stayed at. The location was good, with a partial Capitol view that was a nice touch. My main issue was that the bar wasn’t open during my stay, and the restaurant hours were inconsistent. I was told it would open at 5, then later, and after returning multiple times, I was ultimately told it wouldn’t open at all. There was a bar next door, which helped. Overall, the experience was just okay. I’d return, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.
Pros: Service at check in and check out was great. Lobby and rooms were both tidy/clean. Nice location. The Whole Foods across the street was very convenient! Overall, definitely a nice place to stay in the area, would stay again. The staff made the experience very seamless and pleasant. Cons: Water pressure was weak. Beds were a bit below standard: hard and lumpy pillows.
I’d love to give this hotel a better review but unfortunately they like to nickel and dime their customers. For starters they charge $60 plus $10.80 per day to park your vehicle. So for a two night stay you’ve spent a nights rate just to park. Avoid any of the add ons they email you about. They do not honor them. I chose the $100 credit for $85 at Smoke and Mirrors (the hotel restaurant) and even showed it to my waitress when I charged my meal to my room. When I checked out the credit was no where on my bill. When I inquired with the front desk they credited only $85 towards the bill instead of the $100 the deal offered. When I went back and asked why it was only $85 and not $100 I was told that’s what “the website” told her to credit and that she couldn’t do anything else without a manager. When I asked about getting a manager involved she said they weren’t available. Trying to steal $85 from your customers is bad enough but squeezing me for $15 once I caught you is unconscionable. Do better!
