Guests generally praise the spacious suites, 24-hour complimentary breakfast, and convenient location near the DC Convention Center and grocery stores, but reports of inconsistent room cleanliness, HVAC malfunctions, and parking fees are common.
My husband and I had a comfortable week long stay at this hotel. All of the staff are wonderful. From housekeeping and front desk to the breakfast cooks and staff, exceptional service. Breakfast and free coffee all day was great. Being a 3 star hotel, some things were expected like the cheaper fabric for the bedding, wear and tear on the headboard and floor. But overall we had a good stay. The location is great and there is a Safeway across the street which is great for buying snacks etc.
Excellent hotel with outstanding customer service. The rooms are spacious and fantastic for long stays, featuring a fully equipped kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, and dishwasher. The location is great. Breakfast needs more variety, but the hot options provided are still good
$300 deposit at check in $55-65 a day for parking plus $10 service fee daily for parking. The included free buffet breakfast weekdays till 9 am and weekends till 10 pm was very convenient for us. We had an issue with our shower and had to have someone come up and fix it. No cots or rollaways available here. My son made a small bed out of sofa cushions and slept on the floor. We had a suit that was two double beds and a pull out sofa bed. So that’s perfect for a family of 5 with small children. We have three big teenagers so it was a tight fit but it worked for our dc vacation. We drove into downtown Dec and paid $30 for garage parking each day. There are lots of electric scooters and bikes to rent using different apps that you could use to get downtown to government buildings, monuments, and museums. If I did it again I would probably use those more and spend less on vehicle parking in dc. There was a gym on site though we didn’t use it since we did so much walking each day. There is a Safeway grocery store right across the street so very convenient to grab some items and stock the small kitchenette in the room. There was a fridge, freezer, microwave, and small stove in the room for us to use.
This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my whole life. Everything from trying to find the parking garage to my actual room was awful. I accidentally drove into the parking garage not knowing valet was suppose to park, once I was inside I had to call the office twice to get out because someone locked us inside, for over ten minutes my family and I were locked inside the garage waiting for someone to open the garage door. Once the man in charge of valet opened the garage door, he didn’t instruct us on where to go, he just yelled at us telling us we need to leave. That’s it, no help what’s so ever. Extremely unprofessional and rude. Downtown Washington DC is a bit confusing to people who have never been we made a simple mistake. However, if you’re running a valet service it’s your responsibility to be on the premises at all times. So we circled back two time to figure out where to pull in. Finally after looking for what seemed forever, I went into the office and the desk manager guided us out. I was already reluctant because the man running valet was rude not to mention he was smoking a blunt in front of my family. I refused service from him after witnessing that, I ended up finding a separate parking lot. Once we finally got up to our room instantly had issues. The A/C filter had a code showing on the thermostat saying it needed to be replaced. The carpets were highly stained, the walls were filthy, the wallpaper in the room was quite literally peeling off in different spots. The headboard was peeling everywhere, the duvet was not assembled properly it was just thrown on top of the blanket. The duvet had multiple large holes in it as well. The only thing I was looking forward to was a hot shower. That did not happen. The water was warm for maybe 6 minuets before it got cold again. This was the worst experience I have ever had in my whole life. Truly disgusting behavior of the staff here and extremely unprofessional. The room should be investigated and repaired before allowing another family to stay there!
Overall we had a good experience. The room was nice and spacious. The hotel offered free breakfast and there is grocery store right across the street. There is parking available on site but for a fee. We stayed two nights and were charged for 3 nights of parking; it was a hassle to get a refund for the additional night they charged. Although the hotel is non smoking, guests were obviously smoking in their rooms and the smell permeated the entire floor. When we checked in, the room was clean. The lobby is very nice and comfortable.
Came for a conference and hotel location was within 7-8 min walk which was nice. Felt safe and there was security on site. Staff were responsive and friendly. Hotel room was clean but does need to be updated. Digital key option did not work for left elevator. Hot breakfast options could be better. Sausages were over-cooked and rubbery. Biscuits were dry.
had an exceptional experience at the Homewood Suites! From the moment I checked in, the staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and welcoming. The front desk team went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect throughout my stay. The room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully designed — having a fully equipped kitchen was such a bonus and made it feel like a true home away from home. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the housekeeping staff kept everything immaculate every day. The complimentary breakfast was fresh, varied, and delicious, with plenty of healthy options to start the day right. I also appreciated the evening social hour — a thoughtful touch that added to the hotel’s warm, community-like atmosphere. The location was ideal — close to restaurants, attractions, and public transport, yet quiet and relaxing inside. The hotel felt safe and well-maintained, and the amenities (fitness center, business area, and laundry) were all top-notch. Overall, Homewood Suites exceeded my expectations in every way. Whether you’re traveling for business, a family trip, or an extended stay, I highly recommend this hotel for its comfort, cleanliness, and genuine hospitality. I’ll definitely be returning!
Terrible customer service who are not willing to accommodate when you get INFLUENZA. Let me preface this by saying, yes we booked through a third party at a non-refundable rate which is a mistake on our part. But initially when we called the hotel first to explain the situation, that we just found out we were positive for Influenza prior to check-in , and asked for either a cancellation or a change of date, they did say they could help us out but that we would have to go through Expedia first since we booked it from there. Expedia was super accommodating and willing to work with us, and called the hotel to try to work something out and the hotel refused, we called again and they still refused and said that they can’t do anything about it and to talk to Expedia!! When we have already done that!! Sorry for getting influenza and can barley get out of bed.
I traveled to Washington DC with my mom so I could participate in the St. Jude Rock N Roll half marathon. Everything was wonderful. Staff was incredibly kind and accommodating, there is a grocery store across the street for necessary items, the complimentary breakfast was 5 star and it is a short and easy walk to the nearest metro station. If you have an early flight out before the metro opens, front desk can call a cab for you. Front desk was also wonderful with recommendations and directions. The rooms and all common areas were clean and well kept up. I utilized the gym as well, the equipment was clean and in well working order. My one and only complaint that doesn't even warrant taking a star away is the pillows! The pillows were horrendous! At best, they were lumpy and at worst, flat. If you have the option to bring your own pillow, do it.
Upon our arrival at the Homewood by Hilton the check in went great! We did have to change rooms during our 4 night stay because the first room the heater was not functioning correctly, it was loud and it turned on and off every 5 minutes throughout the first two nights. Once moved to another room, we did notice a few burns in the carpet, the entry door had two chunks of wood missing out of it on the interior part of door and when we ran the shower the hot water pipes were very loud with a knocking sound that was very disturbing. As far as the staff, the hotel front desk were very kind and helpful and tried their best to accommodate our stay. The hotel was fully booked, so we were very patient with the staff. The staff that worked in the dining area were very kind and we were pleased with the complementary breakfast . The dining area was also very clean. The parking attendants were very kind and helpful. The maintenance technicians did their best as well and were also very kind. Again, the staff were all amazing people and made use feel very welcomed. Some updates to the rooms are a necessity. We would like to acknowledge Diamond, the front desk service representative, she went above and beyond to make sure we would remain loyal to the Hilton hotel family, if it were not for her kindness, respect, compassion and understanding, we would have moved on! Diamond thank you for being a wonderful human being and an upstanding employee with Hilton!
