The Homewood Suites by Hilton Washington DC Convention Center receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its convenient location and included amenities, while others cite cleanliness issues, staffing problems, and outdated facilities. Recent feedback indicates an inconsistency in service quality and maintenance.
This was a horrible experience. I am traveling for work, for a conference. The hotel that is hosting the conference was fully booked, so I was forced to find a nearby hotel. This hotel was conviently located in Downtown DC, about a 10 minute walk from the conference. Upon arriving we could not locate the parking garage. When we finally found it, we waited outside for over 20 minutes for a parking attendant to arrive. He was only called after we had to go inside to the front desk and ask for an attendant. He then forced us out of the vehicle, rushing us, then proceeded to leave my car running with my door wide open, while proceeding to enter my vehicle into the system. Finally we were checked into our hotel room. Our room was very dirty, there were suspicious stains all over the room, on furniture, beds, carpets, there were peices of furniture that were broken. I tried to deal with it and get into bed, I took the sheets down and immediately found two carpet beetles. I immediately thought they were bed bugs and took photos of them and put them into google. Come to find out although they look like bed bugs they are Carpet Beetles, not as bad. BUT, Carpet Beetles are known to get into your clothing and destroy it while also causing rashes to human skin. At this point, I was disgusted and requested a refund, I was staying at a new hotel. I was forced to double my lodging budget due to the late notice and the hotel is refusing to give me added compensation for this inconvience. I will not be staying here ever again and I suggest you don't either unless you want to deal with unprofessional staff, that don't care, and critters in your bed.
Stayed during Memorial Day weekend. Plus: Location is excellent! The included bfast has a lot of different choices. Shower is awesome. Kitchen in room are nice. Minus: The rooms are fine, but the non-English room attendants only give you new towels upon request and did t remove the growing pile of used, wet towels. No daily trash removal, clean sheets or bed made. When did that become normal? The furniture (rooms and lobby) have seen better day and were either very dirty/worn or broken. There are probably better choices out there.
This hotel needs to be updated. Desk chair and headboard are heavily worn. Carpet is poorly installed (Room 901) and room was heavily perfumed (covering something up?). Convenient to have the kitchenette and Safeway across the street. Close to convention center. I would recommend if travelling with kids and want a decent place to eat in. As a business traveler, you can do better in same price range. Staff seem lovely but did not bother to respond to my text when I mentioned the heavy perfume smell in the room after night 1 of 3.
Overall, had a good stay at this hotel. We arrived early expecting to just drop our bags, but our room was ready. The room was clean and the hotel was centrally located near a grocery store and some restaurants, the metro was less than 10 minute walk away. Excellent fitness center and a well-stocked breakfast. A staff member checked in multiple times to see if there was anything they could do to improve our stay. Room was pretty standard in terms of bedding quality and cleanliness that you'd expect from this level of hotel. If I could offer one suggestion it would be to stock the kitchen with at least one spatula as not having one made cooking a challenge.
My husband and I had a comfortable week long stay at this hotel. All of the staff are wonderful. From housekeeping and front desk to the breakfast cooks and staff, exceptional service. Breakfast and free coffee all day was great. Being a 3 star hotel, some things were expected like the cheaper fabric for the bedding, wear and tear on the headboard and floor. But overall we had a good stay. The location is great and there is a Safeway across the street which is great for buying snacks etc.
Excellent hotel with outstanding customer service. The rooms are spacious and fantastic for long stays, featuring a fully equipped kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, and dishwasher. The location is great. Breakfast needs more variety, but the hot options provided are still good
$300 deposit at check in $55-65 a day for parking plus $10 service fee daily for parking. The included free buffet breakfast weekdays till 9 am and weekends till 10 pm was very convenient for us. We had an issue with our shower and had to have someone come up and fix it. No cots or rollaways available here. My son made a small bed out of sofa cushions and slept on the floor. We had a suit that was two double beds and a pull out sofa bed. So that’s perfect for a family of 5 with small children. We have three big teenagers so it was a tight fit but it worked for our dc vacation. We drove into downtown Dec and paid $30 for garage parking each day. There are lots of electric scooters and bikes to rent using different apps that you could use to get downtown to government buildings, monuments, and museums. If I did it again I would probably use those more and spend less on vehicle parking in dc. There was a gym on site though we didn’t use it since we did so much walking each day. There is a Safeway grocery store right across the street so very convenient to grab some items and stock the small kitchenette in the room. There was a fridge, freezer, microwave, and small stove in the room for us to use.
This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had in my whole life. Everything from trying to find the parking garage to my actual room was awful. I accidentally drove into the parking garage not knowing valet was suppose to park, once I was inside I had to call the office twice to get out because someone locked us inside, for over ten minutes my family and I were locked inside the garage waiting for someone to open the garage door. Once the man in charge of valet opened the garage door, he didn’t instruct us on where to go, he just yelled at us telling us we need to leave. That’s it, no help what’s so ever. Extremely unprofessional and rude. Downtown Washington DC is a bit confusing to people who have never been we made a simple mistake. However, if you’re running a valet service it’s your responsibility to be on the premises at all times. So we circled back two time to figure out where to pull in. Finally after looking for what seemed forever, I went into the office and the desk manager guided us out. I was already reluctant because the man running valet was rude not to mention he was smoking a blunt in front of my family. I refused service from him after witnessing that, I ended up finding a separate parking lot. Once we finally got up to our room instantly had issues. The A/C filter had a code showing on the thermostat saying it needed to be replaced. The carpets were highly stained, the walls were filthy, the wallpaper in the room was quite literally peeling off in different spots. The headboard was peeling everywhere, the duvet was not assembled properly it was just thrown on top of the blanket. The duvet had multiple large holes in it as well. The only thing I was looking forward to was a hot shower. That did not happen. The water was warm for maybe 6 minuets before it got cold again. This was the worst experience I have ever had in my whole life. Truly disgusting behavior of the staff here and extremely unprofessional. The room should be investigated and repaired before allowing another family to stay there!
Overall we had a good experience. The room was nice and spacious. The hotel offered free breakfast and there is grocery store right across the street. There is parking available on site but for a fee. We stayed two nights and were charged for 3 nights of parking; it was a hassle to get a refund for the additional night they charged. Although the hotel is non smoking, guests were obviously smoking in their rooms and the smell permeated the entire floor. When we checked in, the room was clean. The lobby is very nice and comfortable.
Came for a conference and hotel location was within 7-8 min walk which was nice. Felt safe and there was security on site. Staff were responsive and friendly. Hotel room was clean but does need to be updated. Digital key option did not work for left elevator. Hot breakfast options could be better. Sausages were over-cooked and rubbery. Biscuits were dry.
