The St. Regis Washington, D.C. consistently receives high praise for its luxurious atmosphere, exceptional service, and prime location near iconic landmarks. Guests frequently highlight the elegant décor, comfortable accommodations, and attentive staff, particularly mentioning the helpfulness of the valet and concierge teams. However, some recent reviews indicate issues with room renovations and inconsistent service levels.
Bonvoy Platinum. I used a 50k certificate + points for a one night stay in a two double room. Valet was convenient. They offered to keep our car nearby in case we wanted to take it out later, which we appreciated. They also pointed out a nearby CVS and Starbucks. The lobby is a throwback to the golden age of hotel travel. You feel like you've stepped back in time, surrounded by luxurious designs and impressive details. Check in was fast and easy. I expected to be upgraded based on Bonvoy's benefits for platinum members, which gurantee an upgrade based on availability. The hotel had plenty of higher tier rooms available, and based on the small amount of people in the lobby and at breakfast the next morning, it was pretty empty. I'm not sure why we weren't offered an upgrade. I should have asked because our room was very small, but I figured for one night, it didn't matter too much. This would have been a 5 star review had we been upgraded. Breakfast at Alhambra was delicious. Overall, a nice stay at a beautiful, historic hotel walking distance from the White House.
Went for afternoon tea on a Friday and it was a lovely experience, large selection of teas, drinks, and a great variety of bites that are predetermined by the chef! The architecture and decor is impeccable and makes you feel like you’re stepping back into the gilded age! The entire setting shows incredible craftsmanship and a great eye for elevated taste. The tea experience is worth going for again!
We booked last minute because our original hotel had the entire air conditioning system go out of service. We stayed in Washington for the 250th celebration and heat was over 100f for 3 days. When we arrived at St. Regis, he front desk and everyone was so helpful and accommodating. After we checked in the manager called to ensure we were settled and discounted our room because there was a shortfall with our room, they were apologetic but wanted to make it right. The room was very comfortable, the staff over the top helpful. The food at Alhambra was amazing as well. When you imagine staying in luxury this hotel was a perfect example. It was definitely a refuge from the heat and long walks.
Victor was amazing! He is the epitome of the St Regis brand! He recognized that we needed help before we ever made it through the door! In celebration of a birthday he brought water and tissue to make sure that the lobby stayed Preston’s. The fact that he anticipated the need makes me want to book my next stay here! If everyone on your staff is this way, the St Regis brand is in good hands!
We had an outstanding stay at The St. Regis Washington, D.C. From the moment we arrived, the level of service was exceptional. The staff was polite, professional, and attentive, making us feel welcomed throughout our stay. The bellmen and valet attendants were especially courteous and professional, providing first-class service from check-in to departure. The hotel itself was beautifully decorated with an elegant and sophisticated style that perfectly complements the historic character of the property. Our room was immaculate, spacious, and thoughtfully appointed. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, providing a great night's sleep after a day of exploring Washington, D.C. The bathroom was equally impressive, featuring high-end finishes, plenty of space, and luxury touches throughout. One of our favorite features was the bidet toilet with a heated seat, which added an extra level of comfort and luxury to the experience. Every detail of our stay reflected the high standards of The St. Regis. If you're looking for a luxury hotel in Washington, D.C. with outstanding service, elegant accommodations, and exceptional comfort, we highly recommend The St. Regis. We would gladly stay here again.
Great pre-arrival coordination and the GM went above and beyond to accommodate specific requests. However, it does seem that the room renovation was partial and shower/water pressure was particularly lacking, not on-par with other St. Regis properties. Staff on-site fulfilled the typical St. Regis "checklist" of hospitality actions, but without any real guest engagement or authenticity - a noticeable difference from the night prior at the Waldorf Astoria DC.
The St. Regis is a cut above. Rooms are well appointed, beds are comfortable and yes, the toilet seat is heated. Good food options and a welcoming bar. Don't miss the bottle opening at 6:00. Convenient to most tourist spots. My second stay here and both were of an equal level of high quality.
Catherine the concierge is excellent. Butler service lost my wife's very expensive custom made formal wear pair of gloves from London. It was Catherine the concierge who helped us find the gloves. Catherine was the helpful hero in this story. The manager on duty Murielle however was clueless and had a perceptible attitude. Systemically, the St. Regis showed how they are in disarray on a communications and professionalism level. A hotel that purports to be at such a "high level" and bills room rates as such needs to learn what excellent customer service is. Aside from Catherine the concierge, the St. Regis staff needs A LOT of training of what the hotelier and hospitality industry ought to be.
I am writing to escalate a valet parking issue that occurred at a St. Regis Washington DC property and resulted in a parking citation and financial loss due solely to the actions of the hotel’s valet service. On 12/21/2025, my wife and I attended a wedding at the hotel ballroom and utilized the hotel’s valet parking service (I was not a registered hotel guest). At the conclusion of the event, I presented the valet ticket, paid the $50 valet fee, received my wife’s vehicle, tipped the attendant, and departed without being informed of any issue. On 2/4/2026, approximately six weeks after the event, I received a parking citation totaling $100 ($50 violation for parking in a no-standing zone plus a $50 late penalty). As my wife’s vehicle was under the exclusive custody and control of the hotel’s valet service at the time, the violation could only have occurred due to improper parking by valet staff. No citation was disclosed to us when the vehicle was returned, nor was any notice left on the car. To avoid further penalties, I have already paid the citation in full. This situation reflects a serious failure in valet operations and guest transparency. Paying a premium valet fee should not expose patrons to concealed violations, late penalties, or the administrative burden of resolving issues caused by hotel staff. I have contacted St. Regis/Marriott escalating this matter to corporate management because it represents a service breakdown inconsistent with the St. Regis and Marriott standards. I have requested: -Reimbursement of the full $100 citation paid, and -Confirmation that this matter has been reviewed with the property to prevent recurrence. I will keep posting updates to this review as they happen.
We recently celebrated our company's 25-year anniversary at the St. Regis in Washington, D.C., and the experience was nothing short of spectacular. From start to finish, the St. Regis team went above and beyond to make our weekend absolutely perfect. The venue was elegant, the service impeccable, and our staff is still raving about how memorable the celebration was. Highly recommend them for any special occasion.
