The Washington Marriott at Metro Center offers a prime location near the Metro and key attractions, with generally positive reviews highlighting cleanliness and a friendly staff. However, recent experiences have raised concerns regarding construction noise, inadequate room storage, and inconsistent valet service. Overall, it’s a decent option for DC travelers but requires attention to operational issues.
I’ve stayed at this hotel several times. I can’t speak highly enough about how clean and organized this place is. The rooms are thoroughly cleaned daily to ensure a great stay. The m club is fantastic and well stocked 24 hours a day. Birihan and her team do a great job to ensure that Marriott’s most frequent travelers have a great experience. Marriott Metro is a must stay if in Washington DC.
The hotel was recently redone. The entrance is grand and beautiful. The rooms are clean and basic. There were NO drawers any where in the room. I found this bizarre and difficult , as I was travelling for business. The gym was functional but ugly and with terrible industrial lighting, It was an afterthought. For such a grand impressive entrance , they should have spared some funds to make the rooms more functional and the gym nicer. One important note. The staff is exceedingly nice and helpful. If you’re doing business in the area, it’s a reasonable place to stay, but they need a place to put folded clothing.
I would have never booked this hotel had I known I would be awoken each morning to the sound of construction. The noise is so loud that it echos off the buildings and amplifies the noise further. The 1 set of ear plugs they provided did almost nothing to dull the noise and the instructions they left for playing white noise on your phone were not accurate. I tried a white noise app, but it was no match for the jackhammering that started at 7am. I live on the west coast so for my family and I, that was a 4am wake up call. I was with my husband and 2 young children on this trip and my kids had their sleep cut very short making the long days of sight seeing very challenging. At the very least the hotel should be providing a disclaimer regarding the ongoing construction. There was no forewarning at all and we had paid for an upgrade corner room, which of course put us right next to the construction site. Had we been provided a room on the other side of the hotel, perhaps the noise issue would not have been so severe, but we were unaware of this issue at check in. Additionally, the M Club was one of the reasons that we booked at this hotel rather than our other top choices. After checking in, we discovered that M Club was shut down during our trip and all amenities were transferred to their larger conference room space. No warning here either that the stylish lounge would be replaced with a cold, bland conference room. Further the room had no dresser, no luggage racks and the closet was too small to store luggage, so we had 4 luggage’s randomly open around the room. We called down for luggage racks 3 times before receiving one, but still didn’t get the needed quantity. The room itself was tidy, clean and updated with a large counter in the bathroom which I appreciate. However the water pressure in the shower is poor. Overall, I would not stay here again without the M Club being open and construction being done.
We had a corner room with an extra window. Everyone at front desk were most helpful. We thought the location was great. Could walk to restaurants, a few museums and a great breakfast place across the street from the Ford Theater. Would love to know what brand the room hair dryer was. I loved it. Called the front desk and they didn’t know.
Great location. Friendly welcoming staff. Clean spacious room with enough hangers and storage space. Indoor pool and fitness center 24/7. Bath and shower in the bathroom. Coffee machine. Mini fridge. No microwave. Im afraid of the air quality. The air vent are full of dust and the ceiling of the pool is rusted & molded. The room windows cant be opened. Very poor sound insulation. The person in the room next to me kept snoozing the clock that kept ringing for more than 1h and prevented me from sleeping. The heat also makes noise.
Woken at 7:30 AM by heavy construction drilling that made the building shake. The noise was disruptive enough that we couldn’t remain in the room. Staff confirmed this has been ongoing for about a month. Check on current construction before booking if you value a quiet stay.
Clean, bright, spacious rooms. Friendly staff, unbeatable location steps from the metro and a 5 min walk from Walgreens, WaWa, or target. Pricey drinks and menu though so take advantage of the location and get out!
Great hotel with an excellent M Lounge and restaurant. Valet service is 50/50, the valet notification system is not consistent and may cause delays in having your vehicle ready. For $65 dollars a night, I would expect little to no delays and a valet request system that works.
My wife and I stayed here for the Christmas holiday in 2025. A female staff at the club lounge (M Lounge), named Kimberli, was very kind to us. She recommended drinks and food for us when we were a bit confused, and we had a great time talking about our families. Ms. Kimberli is so kind, gentle, beautiful, and polite, and we were so grateful for her help. Thanks to her, we were able to make wonderful memories after traveling all the way from Japan. You are the best!
I've stayed at this hotel multiple times over the last ten years. There service is phenomenal! From the doorman, front desk, and room service cleaners, this hotel staff always works hard to make this a great stay. With the Metro Center stop on the same block, this is a great location for a family or someone on business that needs to walk/metro to and from major sights and frequently visited POI.
