Coda on Half offers a convenient location in Washington, D.C., close to transportation and attractions, with amenities like in-unit laundry and a rooftop space. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistent service levels and maintenance issues within the units, creating a mixed guest experience.
I consider myself a loyal guest who values exceptional hospitality. When I first booked my stay while Mikey was still working here, I received outstanding service, which is why I decided to book with Placemakr again. This was my second stay, although the studio apartment wasn’t my preferred choice, as I’m accustomed to booking a one-bedroom with a den or a two-bedroom apartment. I would like to commend Yanik, who was an exceptional host humble, welcoming, and genuinely helpful throughout my stay. I also want to recognize the female security guard who wears glasses. She provided excellent customer service and made me feel welcome. Their professionalism was one of the highlights of my stay. Unfortunately, the room itself was only a 6/10. The sofa appeared old and worn, the towels had makeup stains on them, the sink had very low water pressure, and there were several other maintenance issues that affected my overall experience. My biggest disappointment came during checkout. The receptionist with maroon hair and long nails was extremely unprofessional and lacked basic customer service skills. My interaction with her left a very negative impression. In addition, one of the housekeeping staff members, an African American gentleman, was equally unprofessional. Both employees behaved as though they were at home rather than representing a hospitality business. Their attitude, communication, and overall conduct fell far below the standard I would expect from a company that values its guests. These employees need proper customer service training because they are damaging the reputation of the business. Professionalism, respect, and courtesy should be the foundation of every guest interaction, and unfortunately, that was not my experience during checkout. Overall, my experience at Coda was disappointing. It’s unfortunate because there are genuinely outstanding employees like Yanik and the security guard who go above and beyond. However, the poor service from other staff members overshadowed the positive aspects of my stay. I hope management addresses these issues, as the actions of a few employees can significantly impact the reputation of an otherwise promising property.
I m beginning to take to the apt hotel concept. It’s a lot more room than a hotel with the conveniences of home. In particular the laundry conveniences fridge n ability to cook n eat simple meals vs store bought premade food. The location is close to lots of happenings n metro. Only two blemish is the bed can be bigger for comfort for 2. Also the shower curtain is short by an inch n every time we take a shower the bathroom almost gets flooded. I brought it up with the check out person
I had a lovely stay at Coda on Half and was thrilled by how conveniently located it was near the Metro, restaurants, and charming coffee shops. The staff was incredibly pleasant and helpful, always greeting us with a smile whenever we came and went throughout the day. The studio apartment was well-equipped with thoughtful amenities in both the kitchen and bathroom, making the stay very comfortable. I also loved the view from the balcony, especially at night, with the beautiful lights overlooking DC’s Navy Yard creating such a memorable atmosphere. I’ll definitely be recommending Coda on Half to friends and relatives planning a trip to DC. The area is perfect for families looking to stay in a convenient, safe, and traveler-friendly location, with easy access to transportation, dining, and local attractions.
THE best hotel I ever stayed at. Separate bedroom, washer/dryer in unit, comfortable bathtub, lots of light in living area - priceless. I stayed for almost two months, and it was truly like living in an apartment, not just making do with a hotel. Great selection of restaurants around the corner (Italian, Korean, Sports bars) and supermarkets in walking distance. Cleaning staff is so friendly and thorough. The front desk staff and managers (Mikey, Floyd, Yannick and all of the others) are exceptional. The residents made me feel right at home. I loved every moment. It felt like leaving best friends and family when I left. Definitely will be back! Love from NC!
Coda on half was the perfect place for us to stay for our month long visit to DC. The location was so convenient to the Nationals park, walks by the water, and so many restaurants. The room was beautiful with a great view of the city. We loved the rooftop space and spent many hours up there working or just enjoying the view. The best part of Coda was the front desk host, Mickey! He was so kind from the day we checked in and continued to make our stay such a positive experience. He was so warm and welcoming, always greeting us with a smile and a cheer! He was always helpful and accommodating and went above and beyond to make us feel right at home. 10/10 experience and can't wait to return again one day!
