The Residence Inn Washington, DC/Foggy Bottom offers a convenient location near the Foggy Bottom Metro and local amenities, with suites featuring kitchen facilities. However, recent reviews highlight significant customer service issues, inconsistent cleanliness, and outdated facilities, leading to a mixed guest experience.
Just a stone's throw from the Foggy Bottom subway station, the Residence Inn Foggy Bottom's location is exceptional. While it is a bit far from places like the White House and the Capitol Building, the nearby subway station and numerous parking options nearby ensure that you never need to walk far. I recommend parking at the Lot 769 - Square 54 as it has reasonable rates. (Don't park at the Residence Inn itself, it's way too expensive at $70 a night) There were multiple options for rooms, but I took a suite with a kitchen, and that comes with a refrigerator, electric stove, and utensils. The room and bathroom in the suite were clean, and the place was well kept. Complimentary breakfast had changing options each day, but bread, bagels, muffins, milk, coffee, and waffles stayed every day. The front desk was really helpful. The Whole Foods and 7-Eleven nearby is also very convenient. Overall, a very good place to stay if you are bringing your family along.
Stayed for one night. Was impressed that the front doors to the hotel would remain locked throughout the night unless you had a keycard. Breakfast surpassed our expectations. Bathroom was not run down which was nice. Sofabed in the 2 queen room had a well cushioned mattress for sleeping. Parking on site was a bit of a disappointment and expensive, but we needed it and it worked out.
Edit 06/22/2026: Still never a callback. Rosslyn stay was wonderful and only one more Metro stop. So, never stay at this location as they obviously do not care about us the customers. Spend your hard earned money where they do. So, booked a room for my 18yo son not knowing everyplace in DC is 21+ to check in. That's a fair point about my not knowing. I called three times asking for the GM (who was never available during the business day... Meaning not even at the property according to the front desk) to give me a call back to discuss an exception. Even if there's a one percent chance, why not have the conversation? Think I received a call? Nope. Horrible customer service generally plus as like a 30 year gold status even more disrespectful. Cancelled my rez and went with Rosslyn where they were pleasant, courteous, and accommodating. Avoid this property until they get a new GM.
Yessss everyone should stay here. Huge rooms, super useful kitchen with all the right basic kitchen tools needed for simple meals. Breakfast was adequate and plentiful. Always had eggs and protein on top of the classic carb options. The best part is the location !! Walking distance to tons of sights and restaurants. And super close to the metro station for anything else! We had the best time and would def choose this hotel again. They also let us store our luggage after checkout til our flight which was so helpful.
Very comfortable beds in separate rooms with blackout curtains. Quiet, spacious suites, and the continential breakfast is a bit different every day, including a hot vegetarian option. The fitness room is quite small, but includes a couple of aerobic machines and some dumbbells.
More 'Motel 6' than Marriott. Service: meh... and for front deck supervisor Mr Crocker, no need to be so condescending. Breakfast: powdered eggs and boiled sausage. Coffee: good!
TERRIBLE Management. DO NOT STAY HERE. Location is good for proximity to GW hospital but that is all that's even passable. They nickle and dime you as others have noted, don't honor rates given by Marriott and charge you more, are impossible to work with, manager refuses to speak to clients. Rudest people ever and dishonest. Before booking read all the reviews and this is a theme. This is not emblematic of a Marriott property and I found out it is managed by another company. A 1 star property at best. If you can stay anywhere else you should. Literally anywhere
Very comfortable hotel with spacious rooms and kitchens - really convenient in the heart of Foggy Bottom (around the corner from GWU and Whole Foods). The rooms need updating, but are generally roomy and comfortable. Service is mostly outstanding (check-in was great, food service is great, check-out not so great). The elevators are really slow and they have a really annoying keycard requirement that is impossibly slow and difficult to use. Seems unnecessary since there is always someone at the front desk for security. I mentioned this to the gentleman at check out and he just stared at me with a look that I was some kind of moron. Aside from that, great stay and I will stay again.
We stayed in room 902 for MLK weekend. The hotel location is in a nice area close to GWU and around the corner from the Metro. The breakfast spread was nice, but I wished they offered biscuits too.
Location is good for proximity to GW hospital. Given this and people who come to stay due to the hospital, you would think they'd have people work there who are nice but they don't . They nickle and dime you as others have noted, don't honor rates given by Marriott and charge you more, are impossible to work with, manager refuses to speak to clients. This is not emblematic of a Marriott property or the service they provide and I found out it is managed by another company. A 2 star property at best. If you can stay anywhere else you should.
