The Residence Inn Washington, DC/Foggy Bottom offers spacious suites with kitchenettes and is conveniently located near George Washington University and the Foggy Bottom Metro station. However, recent reviews reveal significant inconsistencies in service, cleanliness, and pricing practices, prompting concerns among some guests.
Very comfortable beds in separate rooms with blackout curtains. Quiet, spacious suites, and the continential breakfast is a bit different every day, including a hot vegetarian option. The fitness room is quite small, but includes a couple of aerobic machines and some dumbbells.
More 'Motel 6' than Marriott. Service: meh... and for front deck supervisor Mr Crocker, no need to be so condescending. Breakfast: powdered eggs and boiled sausage. Coffee: good!
TERRIBLE Management. DO NOT STAY HERE. Location is good for proximity to GW hospital but that is all that's even passable. They nickle and dime you as others have noted, don't honor rates given by Marriott and charge you more, are impossible to work with, manager refuses to speak to clients. Rudest people ever and dishonest. Before booking read all the reviews and this is a theme. This is not emblematic of a Marriott property and I found out it is managed by another company. A 1 star property at best. If you can stay anywhere else you should. Literally anywhere
Very comfortable hotel with spacious rooms and kitchens - really convenient in the heart of Foggy Bottom (around the corner from GWU and Whole Foods). The rooms need updating, but are generally roomy and comfortable. Service is mostly outstanding (check-in was great, food service is great, check-out not so great). The elevators are really slow and they have a really annoying keycard requirement that is impossibly slow and difficult to use. Seems unnecessary since there is always someone at the front desk for security. I mentioned this to the gentleman at check out and he just stared at me with a look that I was some kind of moron. Aside from that, great stay and I will stay again.
We stayed in room 902 for MLK weekend. The hotel location is in a nice area close to GWU and around the corner from the Metro. The breakfast spread was nice, but I wished they offered biscuits too.
Location is good for proximity to GW hospital. Given this and people who come to stay due to the hospital, you would think they'd have people work there who are nice but they don't . They nickle and dime you as others have noted, don't honor rates given by Marriott and charge you more, are impossible to work with, manager refuses to speak to clients. This is not emblematic of a Marriott property or the service they provide and I found out it is managed by another company. A 2 star property at best. If you can stay anywhere else you should. I stayed for three nights. They told me they wouldn’t come in to clean or make the beds, but I expected at least fresh towels and for the trash bins to be emptied. The cleanliness was nonexistent.
Really disappointing experience. Check in felt like a terrible trip to the DMV instead of a hotel. It took a while before the agent let me in after the doors locked at 10:00. When I got in she confirmed I booked a king suite and she immediately tells me she's downgraded me to a room with two queens. I put my foot down and said no. She kept arguing that inventory was limited and I was going to have to take it. As a Titanium member who pre-checked in via phone and already noted a late check-in, my room type should not have been given away. After 10+ minutes of a miserable check in experience (I had to give my phone, email, AAA number at least three times, and then got a horrible attitude when I wouldn't share my business name) I was told I could have an ADA room by the elevator. As someone who averages 100+ nights a year in Marriotts, this was by far the worst check in I've ever had. When I went to check out and talk to someone about my experience in the AM, no one was at the desk either time I went down. A really poor experience overall.
Excellent Hotel! I had the privilege of staying here for over a month. Their staff is friendly and helpful. It felt like home. Khalid is an excellent lead who makes it his priority to ensure you are cared for. Akilah welcomes you so warmly when you arrive and every moment after. She always has a smile on her face and works to put one on yours. Antionette keeps the whole building in beautiful condition. Our room always smelled wonderful and was cleaned with care. Also the food is excellent! When compared with other Residence Inn's in DC, it is top notch. They have a rotating menu and care for vegetarians specifically. This is a great location with close access to the metro and the Mall, but above that the people who work here are amazing. I am very grateful for my time here under this staff's care.
The staff was great. The breakfast was great. The room was nice but it was way too hot in the room with no way to cool it. With the windows open, it would cool a bit, but then there is the garbage truck at 4am with the backup beeper for 5 minutes straight. The location is great if you're doing things around GW University, but it isn't super convenient to the mall, museums, and especially dining. It's like a food desert!
